Retrieval Of Web Based Data?

1. I need to pull some data from a text file separated by a space and put it in a drop down, the first value is supposed to be the text and the second value (separated by a space) is the value of the selection. I think I need to use an array and a System.Net.WebClient. How do I approach this?
2. I want to display some data from a text file into a gridview, so using datagridview, but I want them to be able to enable and disable a checkbox in these rows (using a listview?)

I have created a working report, included a sub-report that is linked to another RDLC file in the same project.The sub report fails to load with : Data retrieval failed for the subreport, 'Subreport1', located at: WML_WS.MediaCur.rdlc. I am using vb.net and sql server 2005 as backend. I have a search form in which a field called billno is searched and all details are displayed in datagridview but the problem is I have to restart the project every now and then. Whenever any entry is done in database the immediate form opens is the search form so it must display the data which was inserted immediately without restarting the project.
For inserting data I am using the following code:

I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column.Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column.Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.

I am trying to retrieve mails from my mail account which is working, but I'm facing two problems
1. Text mail (No-attachments) appear correctly but they include some characters like "=20" , I don't Know if there problem is in the Encoding.

I have been doing some research to determine an efficient and secure way to pass a document located on another server in the network to our web server and then on to the intranet user that requested it. While I have found plenty of ways to do this, I am not that experienced with this scenario as I have always just served documents stored locally on the web server and located nowhere else.
Our document server is shared in the domain and everyone has access to it and depending on their permissions, can access many files. I was thinking that I could possibly grab a file if I could pass the intranet users credentials but I don't know where to look to do that.
I was also thinking that maybe a webservice could do what I need but that just doesn't seem right to me because I am kinda guessing that there is already a .net library available that already handles something like this but am unsure as to what it is.

OK, so I've been trying to look into a webservice.I'm not really sure what is going on with them.I haven't been able to find anything that really explains what the purpose and reason for them are. I suppose maybe that is because they can serve many purposes?

First off I am fairly new to VB .net however I have had some success in my project so far. I am creating a simple envelope accounting program for personal use. So far I have some basic forms created and have my class defined and a few methods for calculating my balances as well as changing the property data I want to work with. I now want to take this property data and save it to an xml file that I can easily retrieve the data into another form and save for later.

This thread is meant to be a repository for our continued collaboration on trying to find a way to update the attachment field using the OLEDB class. Samir believes that he is close to cracking the secret code.:)
Attachment retrieval and updating is a fairly trivial task using the Microsoft Access Database Engine. It is also fairly trival to retrieve the attached files using OLEDb as well. The difficulty comes when trying to add or delete an attachment with OLEDB.
The attachment field is actually a record set where each record consists of six fields. One of these fields is the data field that contains the binary file data. According to the documentation, Access will compress certain file. It appears that compression/decompression is handled behind the scenes so to say and what you are present with is sequence of bytes. The data field consists of sequence of header bytes followed by the actual data. The first four bytes define an offset to the start of the data. One thing that we are trying to determine is the meaning of other bytes in the header.

This project is by no means a finished product. It is hard code to retrieve the first record from the included Access database.

I'm not quite sure where to begin with this. This is basically how I'm trying to get it to work. I will enter the ID of a Hire Record in a textbox, hit the show hire record at which point it will materialise that hire records details in their associated textbox fields.I attached a screenshot of the form in question. I can also create a new record as you may be able to see by typing in the details and hitting create record (this is not a problem, i already understand how to do this), but I also want to be able to display an existing records details in the textboxes again

What I want to do is basically have a column that ranks the users so if there were 10 people it would rank the person with the highest sales 10 and the second highest 9 and so on. Theres not always going to be 10 employees
I am using a stored procedure along with a sqldatasource to connect to my stored procedure. To get all the data for each agent, then I am using functions like

Here is what I have but it only works when clicking on the row. I have tried a For Each and it still only does it when clicking on the row and not every time.Basically, I am trying to get a button to change the way it looks or if it even appears and them making a picture box appear or not.

I have VS2005, Microsoft Access 2003
ComboA is binded to the Customerstbl and displays the CustomerNames. ComboB is Binded to the CustomerContactstbl for the selected customer above and displays all Contacts for that customer is a second cbobox.
I am having a hell of a time with this, When I select a customers name in ComboA, I want ComboB to automattically query the contacts in ComboB based on ComboA's selection. where do I create the query for getting the contacts for that customer?
In the Customer or Contacts tbl?
Is this something that would be better hard coding or is VS2005 that much improved that its ok to use these binding features?

I am looking to find the best way to do the following: Filter data based on the drop down filters, as long as I am within the same product category (e.g. toys, puzzles, etc...), but in different web forms (product grid and product detail).So if I select toys under $25, I need the filter to the toys in a grid format, but if I click to view the detail I need the filter information so I can filter the related items display.Display certain filters depending on the product category.Right now I believe that if I build a user control and session variables that I should be able to accomplish this.
EDIT: Right now I am using the page_load event to update the data and would like to avoid AJAX for right now.

NB: I'm using Visual Basic.NET?My form has 2 DataGridView controls. I placed my code in the rowprepaint event of the datagridview and on start up I get the results I am looking for. However, if the user selects the row or a cell in the row then the value will display.
I don't want the value to show even if the row is selected.

I'm currently trying to use ZedGraph to plot a graph based on some data I have extracted from a machine, with reference to a user entered "Frequency" range. I has to be a line graph, with Frequency on the X-axis, and extracted data on the Y-axis. There are 4 channels for the machine, but all data values extracted are close to each other, so multiple Y-axes are not needed. I'm also trying to do it within a class, and the graph should only be drawn when I click "Button3", otherwise there would be no data anyway and button2 extracts the data.
Below are my class (the graph code is at the bottom) and form1, which button3 should call the class, but I'm stuck for both the button interfacing and the class writing. I have also attached the output I get so you can have a look at what I need. Open it in Excel to see the format. The whole program is also attached as a text file if you prefer it that way.
