Asp.net - Page.RouteData Returning WebResource.axd?

I have a rule in my Global.asax like so:
Essentially, any page that doesn't physically exist is redirected to default.aspx. When that page loads I use the following in the Page_Load sub like so:
I then convert this into a session variable like so:
Eventually, the individual is redirected to another page...where I need to access this value again, but when I perform the following:
I get WebResource.axd as the value for prospect_url. What?

In my global.asax.vb I have a rule like so:
RouteTable.Routes.MapPageRoute("defaultRoute", "{*value}", "~/default.aspx")
So, if someone enters:[URL]...Even though that page doesn't exist, the application pulls up default.aspx
Now, if this wasn't using a wildcard it would be easy to pull this value in on default.aspx like so:
Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("value")
But this doesn't seem to work with wildcards, e.g.:Dim prospect as String = Page.RouteData.Values("*value")
How can I get the page to pick up these variable values? e.g. one time might be janedoe, another johndoe, another goose, another 12345, etc. Whatever it is, I want it to be returned into the string prospect.

Yes, the Build Action is Embedded Resource. I also added this in the AssemblyInfo
Assembly: WebResource("WFL.WebResource.EXT.XXX.png", "image/png")
So now, in the default.aspx i say

I created a simple page with one button, then on the click event have it use FindControl, to get a reference to itself. But..... FindControl is returning nothing.

I'm not sure what's wrong with the following setup. I have a View that lists a number of records, and each has a dropdown associated with it to change a value on that record. I had it all working without AJAX, but you had to change a bunch of the dropdowns then click a Submit button. I wanted to change it so that it would save the dropdown choice immediately.
My stripped down View (of type IEnumerable(Of MyTable)):

What I would like to happen is for the dropdown change to trigger the Update controller, but probably not return anything - just update the database and let the user move on. What's happening though is that a blank page is displayed with the Content value on it (i.e. "123: ABC"). It's the correct id/code combo, so the Update seems to be firing correctly, it's just choosing to wipe out the html.

i have worked on a culture switch control and i need to modify the ViewContext.RouteData("culture") to check if the view exists anyway when i do the following
Dim routeData As RouteData = ViewContext.RouteData
routeData.Values.Remove("culture")
routeData.Values.Add("culture", cultureValue)
then the original ViewContext.RouteData is changed when i change the routeData.I have tested to do the following to but no success
Dim tempViewContext As New ViewContext(ViewContext.Controller.ControllerContext, ViewContext.View, ViewContext.ViewData, ViewContext.TempData, ViewContext.Writer)
Dim routeData As RouteData = tempViewContext.RouteData

how to copy the ViewContext to a temporary object and changing the values without changing the original ViewContext values?
Edit: The only way i know work is to change the routeData then check if it exists and after it change the routeData back to the original culture... was hopping there were a another way but it works for know.

I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.

Does anyone know why a Page_Load would be called twice on a page when requesting an aspx page?I am using .Net 2.0 with the new .net 1.1 compilation model installed. Whenever I request a page, the Page_Load on the aspx page appears to be called twice, so does the Page_Load on and user controls added to that page.

The thing is i have a Master page and a Content Page. I have a LoadComplete in Content Page and a PreRender in Master Page. The problem is one of my htmlcontrols on content page i change on the LoadComplete event server side of the content page. I also have some code for disabling controls on the Master Page PreRender event. For some reason all controls on the aspx side go through the Master Page prerender except the ones that i change on the LoadComplete side. How can i make sure the entire content page loads and then the Master Page PreRender event is called, making all the controls go through that event.

I have an asp.net website that is using update panels on the page that i cant get to reload from the server. I have this for the disable page cache on the master page.

When I click the browser back button to go back to the page it says the page has expired. the other pages on my web site work and call the page load, the only solution i found but cant use is to wrp the whole page in an update panel, but i cant do this becuase i have a report viewer on the page that does not work with ajax.

I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.

So i've been working on a page for a project where the person logs into a login page and then can see a list from the database of employees. everything is working except for one problem. If someone puts in a username and password, username= a and password=b, for example it still allows that individual to view the next page and doesn't throw the error that i have enbedded on the login page to say sorry you have the incorrect password/username. I have a parent page and child page, both aspx. All is working, but now I would like to close child page, if user leaves child popup page and goes back to parent page and clicks on something else like page index of Gridview. I CANNOT close popup child page if user goes to another app, or some other location, I only want to close if something on parent page is changed.
I have the PageIndexChange Event set up for other purposes, I would just like to add some functionality, perhaps a script manager to close the child popup page if the Gridview index is changed, java or another way which ever works best.I think I might also need to check if the child page is even open.
