Asp.net - Sort A GridView Column Related To Other Table

i have a GridView bound to a DataView. Some columns in the DataView's table are foreignkeys to related tables(f.e. Customer). I want to enable sorting for these columns too, but all i can do is sorting the foreignkey(fiCustomer) and not the CustomerName.
I have tried this without success(" Cannot find column ERP_Customer.CustomerName "):

A tried also the DataViewManager, but i've a problem to detect the table to sort:

I have:
- Table1 with columns: PK_ID1, LOCATION, DIRECTOR, SELLER, SELLERID, WORKTIME (relationship), WORKCODE
- Table2 with columns: PK_ID2, WORKCODE (relationship) & WORK_DESCRIPTION
My DataGridView do a SELECT * FROM Table1;How can I replace WORKCODE with WORK_DESCRIPTION in DataGridView, please?

I have coded my program so that when a user clicks on a column, the data is sorted in ascending/descending order.When I go to click on a column header, however, nothing actually happens.I dont get an error or anything.Here is the code that I am using to sort the records in the GridView:

I got a gridview which auto generates columns. One of the columns is a date field.Somehow, i cant sort the date field. It's being interpreted as a string.The data comes out a database. The datatype there is set on datetime.his is the code in the aspx file:

Still experimenting with datagrids and ran into another problem...I'd like to sort a column displayed in a datagrid bound to an Access table programmatically. The field is a date ime type and is sorted in descending order in Access. I can manually sort it at run time but i'd like to know how to sort it with code.

I have gridview binded from database..
I have following code:

Now, I have checkBox and drop-down inside the gridView, When user selects some rows from checkboxes and clicks on Update Button, Page_Load event fires and calls BindGrid(); method and selected rows should get hidden. How can I retain checkbox values after the page load event.

It seems that on clicking datagridview column header, the column will be automatically sorted based on the column type. I have a column showing some numbers. If column type is string, it sorts "1","20","3" into "1","20","3". If column type is double, it sorts into "1","3","20" which is the result that I want. However, there might be some erros in the numbers and error messages(text) will show in the cell instead of numbers. So I cannot set the column type as double. I want to ignore these error messages and sort all the numbers. How can I do this?
Also, I need to add some background colors to different rows in datagridview. So in the column header click event, I call the bkgColor Sub to achieve this. My question is that how can I override the sorting method in this event?

I have a loaded DatagridView which contains a row/column with an employee number in it. Outside of the DatagridView at the the top of my form I have a small PictureBox. My goal is for the user to select the employees row (not cell),pull the employee number from that row/column, and then use a LINQ query against another table to display the image stored in that table.

The way it works is for each event, there can be multiple 'disciplines'. So I have a disciplines table related to my events table.

I get an error when updating a related table, the main table can be updated but the related gives me a concurrency error but I don't know why. Btw I'm the only one using the program and it's connecting to sql server 2005 express.Inserting works like a charm.My piece of code, I hope you get it. VB GridView control will not allow code in the vb code file to access a data column that has its visible property set to false. When it is set to true, the data column can be accessed with no problem. Any suggestions as to how to correct this? I have looked through the documentation, text books, and I have not found anything that gave me any clue as to what the problem could be. I thought that the property was just applied to the column, not that it would remove the column from being accessible.

I have a data table that I am updating. The table has 5 rows.The first row in the data table that has an ID of 1 will not update with new values, but the rest of the data table does update, I can't figure out why.

I am binding a data set to a GridView in VB .net. I have some custom sorting setup, and want to display an icon next to the header if one of my 3 options is selected.
I've read a lot of methods in doing this, and I see Gridviews even have a ASC and DESC header style I can associate with the view. I have 2 problems with this, though:I am sorting a List with linq on Sort Trigger, then binding it to the datagrid.
The reason I do it this way, is I want to maintain multiple sort levels, ordering by 3 columns rather than 1.
Edit for clarity Specifically what I want to do is loop through the value of a GridView's Header text, see if it matches what I have saved in viewstate, and if so add an image for that header in particular. Something essentially like below, however headerRow.Cells(y).Text is always returning "", even when the header has text:

This works great and sorts on L_Name. But I am trying to allow the user to sort the gridview themselves so I am passing in the SortExpression as a string. But I don't know how to incorperate the SortExpression into the LINQ Query. I tried Order By c. & SortExpression but that did not work.

I have a gridview in asp.net/vb and it is bound to a list - so there's no standard sorting available. I've found this jQuery plugin for sorting tables: [URL]. The plugin requires <thead> and <tbody>. The problem is, that my gridview only renders the <tbody>.
I've already tried
DataList.UseAccessibleHeader = True
DataList.HeaderRow.TableSection = TableRowSection.TableHeader
But this changes nothing.
