Asp.net - Configure TFS To Build And Deploy Multiple Web Applications?

Jan 10, 2012

I have a solution that currently has about 20 class libraries, and a dozen different web apps. Each web app shares a site-wide master page, as well as share js and css files.

I need to be able to build & deploy one app at a time, or occasionally update the entire suite. How is this possible with TFS and MSDeploy?

Configure A Button In A .net Healthcare Application With The Aid Of A Wizard That Allows 3rd Party Integrations With Other Applications?

Jun 19, 2012

im trying to configure a button in a .net healthcare application with the aid of a wizard that allows 3rd party integrations with other applications. The process has been documented, including the scripting in a PDF document produced by the manufacturer (siemens) and distributed to me as an IT administrator.Im now trying to configure the integration button and thankfully there is a test button as part of the wizard that verifys the script - which is returning the error: "Expression is a value and therefore cannot be the target of an assignment"

here is the script:

Option Strict Off
Imports System
Imports System.Windows.Forms

[code]....

the line below "create command" seems be be causing the problem. This is the executable that should launch, displaying the same patient in ialauncher.exe?

Using ClickOnce Technology To Deploy Applications Using In Place Hosting Manager?

Oct 21, 2010

We are using ClickOnce Technology to deploy our applications using In Place Hosting Manager.I install Ver 1.0.0.0 for an application XYZ. More upgrades happen and I install till Ver 1.0.0.7. At this point the minimum required version is set to Ver 1.0.0.5. But,now I want to move back to Ver 1.0.0.3.Will In Place Hosting Manager install Ver 1.0.0.3 though we don't change the minimum required version? My motive is to only change the location of deployment manifest and keep on jumping across versions(Up and Down).

Build 64-bit Applications With Silverlight And WPF Using Visual Studio 2010?

May 13, 2010

I would like to convert a VB.NET 64-bit desktop application to a desktop WPF application and also to web-based Silverlight application. Can you write 64-bit applications using WPF or Silverlight using
VS 2010?

If not, can you write 32-bit WPF and Silverlight programs that act as the presentation managers that interface with the user and have them use 64-bit class libraries? Or do all modules have to be either 32-bit or 64-bit?

Asp.net - Communication Between Multiple Web Applications Using SignalR

Application A (Bidding Interface) - A web page to allow multiple end-users to place bids on certain items.

Application B (Managing Interface) - A web page to allow a user (or could potentially be multiple users) to monitor/control the actions from Bidding Interface.

So when a user from Application A place a bid on a piece, I'll need a way to alert Application B that a bid has been placed. Then from Application B, should the user choose to accept the bid, I need to send an alert back to Application A (to update current price, increase bid etc...)

Building A Single Setup For Multiple Applications

Apr 7, 2010

I have been working with Visual Studio 2005 for about a year and a half but the deployment task was never left to me. So now I'm being asked at my company to build a setup which will prompt to install up to 4 applications, which can be chosen by the user using checkboxes.

All of the 4 share the same dependencies, so I created a merge modules package for that purpose. But I still don't know how can I build a single setup to install these 4 applications.

Office Automation :: Multiple Instances Of Applications

Jan 6, 2010

I am currently writing an application in VB.NET that draws to a Microstation(MS) CAD application. Like Excel, MS has a robust COM object library that can be programed remotely. Hence, I am posting this in the VB Office Automation forum. In the case where the user invokes my program and there are multiple instances of Microstation(MS) open, I need to let the user determine which MS application instance they would like the program to draw to. It could be potentially catastrophic if the program draws to an unintended application/file.So my problem is this, I need to know how to convert an instance of the application that was found by enumerating through the GetProcessByName method in the Process Class, to an "Micros tationDGN. Application" object.I have read the responses to Post 1317219 by jprg. In a response to that Post, (Post 1317389) Mike_R replied; But if you want to actually manipulate the Excel instance via automation in order to create and save a new file, etc., then it's pretty close to impossible to convert an instance that you grab within via the Process class to an Excel.Application instance.

Multiple Versions. Free - Options - Able To Convert Vb6 Applications

Jun 5, 2012

I am a vb6 enthusiast willing to try NET. I am confused by all the versions and the fact that limitations of the 'free' version are not spelt out. My requirement is to be able to convert vb6 applications (possibly, but don't mind a manual rewrite), to write applications (not for tablets or phones yet) that I can use myself and possibly publish to others. I would like to allow printed reports for my financial applications. I will have a small home network up soon but ability to operate on a network is not critical. I do NOT want to download a 'free' version and find that it is crippled one way or another, like allowing development but not publication.

Whether the 'free download' is OK, and which one (Express?), or point to a site where the versions are clearly laid out.

VS 2008 Make A Release Build Instead Of A Debug Build?

May 3, 2010

I am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.

After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release. After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?

Perform Release Build And Not Debug Build For Exe

Aug 4, 2010

I have some very simple questions about making a release build exe in vb.net using MS VB 2010 Express.

I realize that my project's executable is built in the bin/debug folder. However, when I copy this to any other location on my computer or someone else's, this executable does not function. I have read that I need to create a release build but in MS VB 2010 Express, when I use the Project-Properties menu and change the Compile tab configuration to Release and the path to binRelease, I still get the exe in the binDebug folder and not the binRelease folder.

1) Is it normal that exe's from the debug folder do not function outside of the debug folder?

2) Most importantly, if the release build produces a faster exe, could someone please explain step by step how to do this with MS VB 2010 Express ? I do not see any button on the compile tab in the project properties that actually builds the release.
