Asp.net Web Service OneWay Definition Not Working?
Apr 22, 2010
When I specify <SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay:=True)> on my webservice it doesn't seem to get called. If I remove that the webservice works properly. Also, everything works fine on the development machine just not on the server.
Here is my web method:
<SoapDocumentMethod(OneWay:=True)> _
<WebMethod()> _
Public Sub Write(ByVal processGroupId As Integer)
xslClass.xslHelper.writeDatabase(processGroupId)
End Sub
I'm using Visual Studio 2010 and .NET3.5. I've created a WCF service application. I'm including two DLLs that contain the types I'm returning. The first method I wrote works both in WCF Test Client and also in a console application I created to test. When I move on to the next method that returns a generic list of a type. It works great in WCF Test Client, but when I update the service reference it acts as if the service is unavailable. All my objects say can't find reference, and I can no longer see it in the object browser. It's like it just disappears. I can still see it in the Service Reference folder. If I go back to the WCF app and comment out the contract and implementation of that one method it work again. I created a local class very similar to the class I'm using from the dll, and the it works. Is there something I'm missing here? Can someone point me in the right direction?
Makeing a service that should call a DLL.. When I run it i a Windows form app it works but in the service nothing happens. no error?? Is there some considers that i have to take care of when calling a DLL from a service app?
Public Function storeFile(ByVal intSRID As Integer) As Byte() Dim engine As New AccessEngine.DBEngine Dim db As AccessEngine.Database = engine.OpenDatabase(DBFile)
I'm creating a windows service with a timer that will tick every few seconds and then query a database. The timer for the service works fine, but as soon as I add any of the MySql details it stops working. Just adding the few lines below stops it from working
I'm currently starting work on my first windows service and I've encountered what I find to be a strange error. For some reason the compiler is telling me that a whole bunch of typical classes (such as Image, Bitmap, Graphics, etc) do not exist. For example, these simple lines of code, which work perfectly in a normal project, return a bunch of errors:
Bitmap b = new Bitmap(destWidth, destHeight); //Error 13 The type or namespace name 'Bitmap' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage((Image)b); //Error 17 The type or namespace name 'Image' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?)
I have a windows service application to send emails. The same code works well with windows application but not with windows service.
Private Sub Timer_Elapsed(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Timers.ElapsedEventArgs) Handles Timer.Elapsed EventLog.WriteEntry("Started!!!!") Dim cmd As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbCommand[code].....
I'm having trouble getting my archive service working. The service counts files in a directory and sends a email. Pretty simple. However, it randomly stops working. I debugged the service and found nothing wrong. I also have it writing to the eventlog so that I can use it to determine where it fails It progresses through each function normally. I thought my program was failing at on point, because it was only posting "Email Notification Service is Running". However, I realized it wasn't posting to the eventlog source so I've been playing around with different ways to post the message to the eventlog. Am I missing something from my code below? I'm really scratching my head with this one.
I am jsut adding bits on to a Windows Service we are making here at our company, its an Asset Management tools with a few built in extras. It runs as a service on everyones machines but we can also do things like request a reboot etc through it.At the moment when We send a Reboot/shutdown etc command to it the Service on the machines calls 'C:WindowsSystem32Shutdown.exe' with the appropiate switches. This displays the windows shutdown warning to the users but nothing they can do about it.
What I was wondering if I create a seperate exe (or even better built into the service but I am not sure if this is possible) instead of the Service Calling 'shutdown.exe' it calls this form up to the user which states that we have requested a reboot etc but there is a 'Cancel' option. The Cancel can just end the form/program and nothing more, if the timeout that we specify is reached then that form/program then calls shutdown exe for an instant shutdown.
I know that the Service runs in a different user Space and we have no telling of who is logged on to that machine so I will need a way to just launch the form to any logged on users. Doesn't matter to much if there is no one logged onto the machine but if it does display this form while noone is logged on that is not a big deal.
I am working on a VS .NET 2008 windows service for 2003, however it doesnt appear to work correctly.I am basically reading a file from a networked computer and trying to display its content, the code is as follows:
Code: Public Class LB_Analyzer Private WithEvents Timer1 As New System.Timers.Timer Protected Overrides Sub OnStart(ByVal args() As String)
[code]....
Now, everytime I run this service it logs the events inside the "GetMachineVol" function, but I never get to the ""Ticked at "" event log from the "main" sub, pretty much as if the service stopped working after trying to assign the value returned from "GetMachineVol" to the string "MachineVolBSFull". I tried using this code on a windows form and everything works fine, and since debugging a service is quite beyond my skills, I really do not know what could be wrong.
I'm having complications with imlementing a service that uses a timer to send emails. In my code, it stops in GetDocuments() after TisValid() validates the directory path. I tried using a addhandler and threading but neither worked.
i have a Windows service that is hosting a WCF service through net.tcp and this is working great. I have also created a WCF service application. I am trying to add the net.tcp service reference to the service application. Then I add it to the GAC that goes ok but if I try to RegAsm the WCF service application to allow it to be called from Server.CreateObject I get the error:
Warning: Type library exporter encountered a type that derives from a generic class and is not marked as [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)]. Class interfaces cannot be exposed for such types. Consider marking the type with [ClassInterface(ClassInterfaceType.None)] and exposing an explicit interface as the default interface to COM using the ComDefaultInterface attribute.
It does not work. I have tried to call it through a class library but this does not work either as the end point is not set correctly.
I have developed a Windows Service in VB.Net (VS2010) which is running on Windows7. I am trying to get "MainWindowTitle" for processes thru their process object but it returns empty.
I have a VB2008 application which can control a windows service i.e. start, stop, pause etc. This runs ok on a Windows XP machine but not on a Win 7 machine (message is - Service error cannot open <service name> service on computer '.') ( if I stop the UAC then it runs ok ). It seems to be a rights issue,
I'm facing really strange problem, in one of my BLL files whenever I add method or property i get this message Error1'CPLogic.BLL.OrdersFaxGroups' does not contain a definition for 'GetFaxGroupForStatusCheck'C:CouponphoneAppsCPFaxEngineCPFaxEngineCPFaxEngineFaxEngine.cs20658CPFaxEngine I know that the method is in that file, i even able to build the application with success but when ever i try to lanuch it i get this message, the same thing happend to me yesterday in the same file, i ended up deleting it and copy its content again to new file with the same name. but now even that not working..
When you want to define a type you must say GetType(Type) ex.: GetType(string), but ain't String a type itself? Why do you need to use GetType in those situations? And, if the reason is because it is expecting a Type 'Type'... why isn't the conversion implicit... I mean, all the data is there...
I know that in WPF, FontSize = 1/96 of an inch (same as 1 pixel I think). Is the FontSize dimension the height, the width, or diagonal size of a character? I would guess it's the font height, but the Microsoft documentation doesn't really indicate what it is.
Also, is there an easy way to get the height and width of a font size?So it looks like the FontSize is the height, and the width can only be determined (without knowing the actual character) on monospaced fonts since proportional fonts have varying widths.
When I right-click on function name and then press "go to definition" it takes me to the function definition. Is there any way to do this with just one click on function name,., is there some option ,or add-on for VB? that will be perfect, fast and furious

I made a copy of a program so I could 'play around' with modifying it. The copy is in a different project in the same solution, plus I renamed it so there shouldn't be a conflict-so why is Go To Definition not available in the copy? It's active in the original (and other programs) but grayed out in the copy. I've rebuilt the entire solution, including the copied program-and it still doesn't work.
I noticed in the code base I have to read that sometimes property definition includes an empty (). What's the meaning of that? And it has nothing to do with arrays.
I have an .XSD that is made from a class so that I can pass to a webservice. It got it over to the webservice as an XMLSchema object and now I need to make it into a class so that I can make objects out of it on the webservice side. I know that XSD.exe is the answer but I'll be darned if I can puzzle out exactly how to implement this thing. I need it to do this conversion at run time so I need to put the code for it into my project and all the references I've seen to using XSD.exe talk about calling it from the command line.
My .XSD is below. <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema attributeFormDefault="unqualified" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns:xs="[URL]"> <xs:element name="Field"> [Code] ..... In my project this is living in an XMLSchema object. How do I turn it into a class?
I have a class definition that I've seen other define properties that return collections of objects.
Public Property GetAllAdults() as Adults End Property I made the argument that this should be a method in the class, because it doesn't define an attribute of the class, and could not be extended with parameters. Is/Are there reasons why this should be defined as a property vs. a function?
i have a probleam with my report , i try to display my report using report viewer but it show an error :The source of the report is not definition has be not specified. i am using visual studio 2005 and databse sql 2005.
Why only the first parameter in the definition of VB.NET Generics uses the 'Of' keyword ?
For example I have here the the full code that LINQ uses for the Enumerable.Select() method :
<System.Runtime.CompilerServices.Extension()> _ Public Shared Function [Select](Of TSource, TResult)( ByVal source As IEnumerable(Of TSource), ByVal selector As Func(Of TSource, TResult) ) As IEnumerable(Of TResult)
Let say I am working in a code window, and I want to check for variable, so I right click on it and click on "Go To Definition", after that I want to get back to the place I was working in.
