View 4 RepliesI made a simple extension of the PictureBox control. In retrospect, this might not have been the best starting point, but that's currently irrelevant. This is the first time I have tried extending a picturebox control. The point of the exercise was to attempt something odd, but I haven't even gotten that far. The control shows up in the common controls panel, and I can drag it onto the form, but it doesn't get added.
What am I doing wrong? There is very little code behind the new control at the moment, as I am just trying to test a concept, and what code there is doesn't actually get run because the control is never created, so NO code gets run.
Public Class Form1
Dim x As Integer, y As Integer
Dim img As Bitmap
Dim pixelColor As Color
Public Function getpixel(ByVal x As Integer, ByVal y As Integer) As Color End Function Private Sub find_img_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles find_img.Click
[Code]...
whenever i load the image, i have to load it a second time to get the colour, or if i load a new one, i get the colour from the previous image, any ideas as to why?
The type for variable 'cri' will not be inferred because it is bound to a field in an enclosing scope. Either change the name of 'cri', of use the fully qualified name (for example, 'Me.cri' or 'MyBase.cri')I have created a class file with name Predefined which consists of this methods like cricket,BasketBall from this methos im returning List of string typeim calling that class in button click i As Integer = 0 To cric.Count - 1
View 1 Repliesi am currently creating a program which will draw out a company logo, which uses a picturebox a couple of radiobuttons which selects the type of shape which will be displayed, and a combo box which selects the color of the shape. i am kind of lost with the combo box, like how do i add the list of colors that is in visual studio and make it to automatically show on the combo box, what color to select.
View 3 RepliesMy database name is "plant3", i have a table named "itemlist" which has a field named "itemname", "task", and "status". I want to show the itemname on combobox and when user choice an itemname the program will show all task and status for that item.
View 2 RepliesI need to be able to check from code whether the SuggestAppend List (not sure if that's it's proper name, I mean the dropdown that appears when you start typing into a combo whose auto-complete mode has been set to Sugest Append) is currently showing. Basically I'm looking for something similar to the DroppedDown property but applying to the SuggestAppend List rather than the Drop Down. Can anyone tell me what property I should be looking at?
The reason I need this is I need to do some work when a user cancels an edit in the combo by pressing escape. I've trapped the escape keypress but this only represents an edit cancellation if the dropdown list and the suggest append list aren't currently showing (otherwise the escape just closes the list).
Private Sub DataGridView1_CellBeginEdit(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewCellCancelEventArgs) Handles dgvProduct.CellBeginEdit
ComboBox1.Visible = True
ComboBox1.Select()
ComboBox1.Focus()
ComboBox1.Text = DataGridView1.Item(0, DataGridView1.CurrentRow.Index).Value
End Sub I have a datagridview, all i want to happen is when i click on the cell (on columns(0)) the combo Box will appear (combo box is with item) so i will select the items on list.. after selecting the item it will display on the current datagridview cell. now my problem is when im Begin Edit, the focus should go to the Combo Box in order to select the item by Keyboard and not by mouse..
When I use the Publish command in the Build menu pillar nothing happens expcept for a few seconds showing the wait cursor. This was working a week or two back but I have now installed sp1 for Visual Studio 2010 - is this a bug or is there some way. I can get this working again. I cannot access the project properties either, which is a known problem with SP1, so how to edit the project.vbproj file.
View 2 RepliesI have 5 combo boxes that need to show the same list of items that come from a single dataset table. I have managed to bind the datatable to the combo boxes no problem at all.. but when I run the application and select an item from one of the combo boxes all the others change to the item I selected. After some research I believe that this problem is something to do with using the one datasource so I have tried assigning the dataset datatable to 2 different variables and used them as datasources for 2 of the comboboxes but the same still happens.
A work around to this I can see is to call the same methods and SQL select statements 5 times over to get individual datasources for each combo box but this doing that sounds crazy to me. how I can get around this easily? Code snippet below shows 2 combox boxes and their datasources. I'm using VS2005, .Net 2
ComboBox1.DropDownStyle = ComboBoxStyle.DropDownList
ComboBox1.DataSource = AllergyListDataSet.Tables("ListOfAllergies")
ComboBox1.DisplayMember = "Condition"
[Code]....
I'm trying to build an application to monitor a site to build statistics from the data being read. This HTML looks like this.
<div id="history">
<h4>HISTORY</h4>
<table border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0">
[code]...
Now I can read the html and put the text anywhere, I just don't how to read specific parts so I can separate the data out.
I have a text box where I write different frames from a serial port.
I'd like to write those frames in two different colours but I don't know how to do it.
If I change the option Textbox.Forecolor, it changes the colour of every single line, and that's not what I am trying...
I have a Form with a Media Player in it. Which plays a Song.
[Code]...
It's playing in the background since the Form is hidden. When I play itin Debug, everything works fine. When I run the app outside Debug, I get this error: [URL] The Music File is there, but strangely, there comes this weird error.
A particular VB.NET project is actually throwing 'Build Failed' But when I try rebuilding again it says 'Rebuild Succeeded'. It keeps alternating this behavior. Kind of random. Any vbc.exe issue of long locking the PDB or xml files?
View 9 RepliesI have a vb.net 2008 windows form application that I was just assigned to work on. how to maintain and test changes to both the pre build and the post build events? Can you tell me how to test these events? My postbuild event, I believe calls a project file in the solution file that wraps files together in a bundle in debug mode. Can you tell me how the posbuild event works and when it is called?
View 2 RepliesI am using 2008 Express Edition. I am trying to make a Release build instead of a Debug build.Under Tools->Options, Projects and Solutions->General - I checked Show advanced build configurations. The option to switch configurations does not show up in the IDE.
After this, I went to the Project Properties->Compile and switched the Configuration from Active(Debug) to Release.After building, I looked in my project directory, however only in the Debug sub-directory was the .exe and nothing in the Release sub-directory.I have used Visual C++ Express Edition, where I noticed that if you do not change to Release in the IDE than after changing to Release in properties, resets the project to the last configuration setting which is usually Debug.how to make the Debug/Release box available in the IDE, since Tools/Options does not make it show up?
I just created a simple application. I Builded that using build->build myapp. I got .exe of that application. i runned. all went fine. but when i closed that app, even after closing it is in memory. it is still running. how to deploy it properly?
View 12 RepliesWith my program I have made a settings form - changing the colour of other forms- and instead of writing the code for each individual form I was thinking if I can create an automatic system. The forms have different types of names & the items within have different names.In the setting form i have 3 color dialogs (one for background,Text colour -labels-, and a button color -forecolor-)
Code for Formsettings
Public Background As Color
Public TextForecolour As Color
Public buttontext As Color[code]......
i cant remember how to get font colours to change, so thought doining it with the hello world would be best
View 1 RepliesI have a colour that is not predefined and I want to change the selectionbackcolor in a DGV. In the DGV it is defined as 255,255,192.
RoomNamesDGV.DefaultCellStyle.SelectionBackColor = " a colour "
How do I set the colour using 255,255,192.I need to do this as I have 2 DGV side by side and I want to show where the focus lies.
I've seen extended .NET method libraries such as this and this.In VB.NET, since you create your extended methods in a Module, How do I make them into a DLL?? (like in those links above) Its not possible to build and get the DLL from a Module.
View 7 RepliesI created a couple of extended methods in a VB.NET module. I put them inside a Class, built it and got the DLL. From another program I made a reference to that DLL and imported it using Imports as well.The extended methods appear in IntelliSense and it works but a warning appears in the Error console saying,Could not resolve this reference. Could not locate the assembly "nK0deExtendedMethods". Check to make sure the assembly exists on disk. why this error occurs even though I have referenced the DLL?
This is the Class where I've put my module with the extended method.
Imports System.Runtime.CompilerServices
Imports System.Drawing
Namespace nK0deExtendedMethods
[code]....
And I'm having another doubt. In the Imports statement, I have to mention the DLL's name along with the Namespace name. Like this,
Imports ExtendedMethods.nK0deExtendedMethods
Normally you only have to import the Namespace's name, right?
In my current project everyone names variables and methods after what they are and what they do. This is good for quickly understanding the code, but with a lot of long varible names comes some headaches, such as when copying a dataset to an entity/object. So, while you understand the code, the readability still takes a blow.
veryLongVariableName.Id = datasetVeryLongVariableName.Id
veryLongVariablename.Something = datasetVeryLongVariableName.Something
etc.
Using VB.NET's With keyword can help.
With veryLongVariableName
.Id = datasetVeryLongVariableName.Id
.Something = datasetVeryLongVariableName.Something
End With
Now, my question, is there any way of using With, or something similar, but for several variables at the same time? Something like:
With veryLongVariableName As a, datasetVeryLongVariableName as b
a.Id = b.Id
a.Something = b.Something
End With
I'm all for descriptive naming conventions, but they do tend to clutter things. Especially in VB!
I am looking for a way or a code that will change the colours used in a powerpoint presentation, I will also need to change the background colours of active x text boxes etc.
View 6 RepliesI am using Visual Basic.NET 2008. I was earlier a VB 6 developer. I found a (VB 6) code online which generates gradient colours on a form. It has a small sub (routine) which does the trick. If we pass red, green and blue values then form's backcolour changes and it appears like a gradient.Now that code is not working in VB.NET.i mean is there an easier way to generate gradient colours in VB.NET (2008)convert the code I have into .net specific so form's backcolour becomes gradient.I have attached a zip file which contains the code.
View 11 RepliesI've found out how to change colours for the text editor, etc, but is there any way to change the colours in the help? It'd be nice to be able to have [for example] white text on a black background. It'd be easier on the eyes for lengthy reading sessions.No crops were circled, or animals mutilated in the making of this sig.
View 3 RepliesI'm a beginner to VB2010. If I draw a red line on a BLANK form, obviously its red. But if I draw a second red line, which crosses the first, is there a way of controlling the colour at the crossover position, for example returning it to the original colour of the form?
