The type for variable 'cri' will not be inferred because it is bound to a field in an enclosing scope. Either change the name of 'cri', of use the fully qualified name (for example, 'Me.cri' or 'MyBase.cri')I have created a class file with name Predefined which consists of this methods like cricket,BasketBall from this methos im returning List of string typeim calling that class in button click i As Integer = 0 To cric.Count - 1

I'm making a project for school with a group of classmates. It is an application that needs to reference quite a few pictures and strings from My.Resources. I don't know what the problem is but, whenever I run the program, I get a message that reads this: "There were several build errors. Would you like to continue and run the last successful build?"
And then below in the Output:
----- Build started: Project: Wilkes-Barre Virtual Scavenger hunt, Configuration: Debug x86 ------
COM Reference 'WMPLib' is the interop assembly for ActiveX control 'AxWMPLib' but was marked to be linked by the compiler with the /link flag. This COM reference will be treated as a reference and will not be linked.

Problem that you may have when dealing with two objects that are raising some events. Here, to make it obvious, I am closing the form, but the problem can be experienced with any other 2 classes event. First, what is the problem !
Let suppose that by pressing a button, you want to raise a custom event, then execute a method and then close the form
In that case, you may use a code similar to this
Event BeepIt()
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
RaiseEvent BeepIt()
[CODE]...

I am trying to display an error message in the edit section of a ASPxGridView when a user has tried to submit invalid data.I have been looking around and have found one blog that allows me to place an error message in red once it has filed validation by throwing a New InvalidOperationException.
I am using the rowUpdating method as described in the blog, but the exception forces my code to stop the code in visual studio (like you would at a break point) and displays the message. Once I click play again, the code carries on and the program continues. How do I stop the application from stopping once the exception has been called and carry on. After adding a string to the program from the resources the build always fails, and removing the string and the code to load the string does not solve the problem, as the build still fails. We've been using multiple versions of the program since this started happening with the most updated one, and adding the string is what started the failure in building even though we added other elements (like an exit button) and other forms without it failing. With the one that started with the build failures we've tried it on all types of computers and it does not manage to build on any of them, even one's with a new installation of Visual Basic Express 2010.
The exact line added that apparently makes the build fail is:
PictureAndInfo.infoBox.Text = My.Resources.StegmeierBreweryString
And the string added to the Resources isn't anything unusal compared ot the rest we have but it is this is:
The Stegmaier Brewery business began in 1857 when Charles Stegmaier first set up a shop. Since then the Stegmaier business has grown greatly. The size of their operation has grown from the original shop to the large building pictured to the left (opened in 1863 and purchased from Stegmaier in 1978). The Stegmaier Brewery Company was purchased in 1974 by Lion, Inc. and Stegmaier Beer is still produced today by Lion, Inc. and remains a popular choice among consumers.

When I use the Publish command in the Build menu pillar nothing happens expcept for a few seconds showing the wait cursor. This was working a week or two back but I have now installed sp1 for Visual Studio 2010 - is this a bug or is there some way. I can get this working again. I cannot access the project properties either, which is a known problem with SP1, so how to edit the project.vbproj file.

i just want to ask why this error mean?InvalidOperationException was unhandled by user code//The provider could not determine the String value. For example, the row was just created, the default for the String column was not available, and the consumer had not yet set a new String value.

I'm using Try/Catch blocks for a program calculating payroll and commission. I've dim'd my variables, and I've parsed them inside my Try/Catch blocks. It appears as if my Try/Catch blocks have been coded correctly. However when in run-time, my format exceptions will show regardless if I provided a correct input.[code]Is there an issue with my programming? Or could there be a property I'm over-looking for my text boxes? I'm stuck.
