C# - Change DNS Zone From Secondary To Primary With WMI ChangeZoneType?

used the WMI ChangeZoneType DNS command in C#VB.net before. I get an incorrect parameter exception when i try and invoke the changezonetype command. I get the dns zone that i want to change from the dns server (via query), set the zonetype to the appropriate uint value but am then getting the exception. I am trying to change the zone from secondary to primary and according to MSDN all the other values are optional (and as far as i am aware are needed when you want to change from primary to secondary) so i have not included them.

I'm working on an auto-configure app for new PC's. I managed to programatically set all the needed parameters, except Primary DNS Suffix of a computer (please remember that this is different from the network connection default DNS suffix).
Update: Here's requested class for setting IP, Subnet, Gateway, and DNS of the PC.[URL]..It was tested only in system having 1 network interface, I don't know how it'll behave when there are more NICs. Oh, and it's WIP, so for now no error handling apart from throwing exception was implemented.

I am using a number of tables on my application and two of which have a foreign key constraint I have set between them. When I change the account number on the main table via a combo box all of the relevant information for that table on the form is updated accordingly. However, the child table which has a foreign key reference to the Account Number of the main table is not updated when the acocunt number is changed. I have set the update to cascade in the references but still am having issues.

recommend a zone ocr sdk package. What i would like to accomplish is to automatically import a set of images, pdf or jpg, and then apply zone ocr to each image to extract data into a database. I have already looked at and spoken to Lead Tools and it does seem like they have everything that i would need but by the time you add up all the modules / addons needed, the cost is just too high for our small shop.

I've got an app working semi-background stuff in the GUI thread. Another thread won't work and a timer won't work. But I want the app to be responsive while I'm going my 'background' work.I cound use application.doevents - but that gives me 3 bad choices:
-loop with no sleeps - end peg an entire CPU (my task waits on stuff besides calcs & I/O so this matters)
-loop with a sleep - then the app slows down
-Try to make a 'smart sleep' loop that speeds up when lots of messages happen (check for messages in messagefilter function)
[code]why I can't use application.run, or threads, what I want to do is handled the OnUnhandledException event, then leave my app open for a while while some winforms stuff closes it down gracefully and tells my watchdog program to restart the app. after allowing the user to finish a critical process, too. Yes, I know people thing that a program getting OnUnhandledException deserves to die (obviously MS), there are 'dangerous' things that could happen; none of them are as dangerous, however, as the wrath of my users. Looking for vb.net sourcecode exact translations of the above two functions.

I have a dual monitor setup. I want my app to run in the secondary monitor by default (through settings in my app). I have been browsing the net for a solution and I found a solution which is setting the Form.Bounds to the Bounds of the secondary monitor. My problem is that if I set the bounds of my newly created form, when it gets displayed, it doesn't show in the secondary monitor.

I am currently working with a program where the user is prompted to click certain points on a picture within the picturebox on my form. The issue is that some of the points need to be pretty precise and i want to give them controls to slide the points once they have clicked them. I am trying to write a VB .NET program that runs a Perl script and reads and uses the standard output. I'd like to be able to handle each line separately as it is printed, and update my program display accordingly. Here's some code I have "written" (read: "mostly copied off the internet"):

This works with one problem: the program waits until the test script has run to completion, and then fires several OutputDataReceived events one after the other. This means that when I make it use the real script, it's likely to do nothing for as much as several hours, and then have to deal with, like, 5,000 events at once, despite the fact that stuff was being printed at fairly regular intervals throughout that time.
Is there any way I can make it deal with each line of text when it is written, instead of all of it at once at the end?

I have been working on a project of mine that will streamline some issues at the office. (Note: There is not much in way of documentation or comments as I just started on this)

I can edit the database with the second form initally, but it pops up an error after I return to Form1 and then attempt to enter into the 2nd form any subsequent time after the first initial load.

Basically I am looking for a means within a asp.net 2.0 (or higher) application, to identify a time zone and UTC offset for a specific location and date. I want to be able to look up the time zone rules using either city & state, Zip, or LAT & LON I have an event database that tracks location, date and time for the events. Times are recorder relative to the event and the records do not currenlty indicate the timezone for the event or whether or not DST is in effect. Recently, I have encountered a situation where I need to link several events across different time zones. What I am looking to do is:
first, record a master event, say for August 13 2012 at 8:PM in New York, NY 10021
Second I need to record a related event in Houston TX.
When I record the related event I want it to automatically populate the date and time relative to its local time time zone rules. To do this it needs to be able to identify the effective timezone and UTC offset for the master event as well as the linked event so that I can calculate the correct date and time to display on the satelite program. As a future update I would probably capture the time zone /utc offsets with each program so that I don't have to recalculate the master record each time I want to add a related event.
So far I have not seen a way from system.timezone or timezoneinfo to be able to look up a timezone and the effective UTC offset of a given date and location.

i am using Visual Studio 2008, .net 3.5sp1 When i do the following oracle query on Oracle9i database
a)select NEW_TIME( sysdate, 'EDT','EST') as NT from dual;it works ok on Sql Developer and from vb.net
b) select NEW_TIME( sysdate, EXTRACT(TIMEZONE_ABBR FROM CURRENT_TIMESTAMP),'EST') as NT from dual;
c) select NEW_TIME( sysdate, to_char(EXTRACT(TIMEZONE_ABBR FROM CURRENT_TIMESTAMP)),'EST') as NT from dual;
Both b) and c) work okay on Oracle Sql Developer but fail when run via vb.net with error: ORA-01857: not a valid time zone
I want either b) or c) to be run successfully from .net I also tried replacing 'sysdate' with 'current_timestamp' and the results are similar.

I have two forms for my application, that are visible in the Windows taskbar. When a modal dialog is popped up on the main form, the secondary form is locked. However, when the user clicks on the secondary form on the taskbar, it appears over the modal dialog box, and is basically frozen. Is there a way to ensure that the modal dialog box does not draw underneath the secondary form? The topmost property is no good, since this draws on top of everything, even stuff not related to the application.

i have a small wp7 application with just a main page. The main page has 4 buttons and calls the ConnectionSettingstask for wifi, bluetooth, airplanemode and cellular data setting. I have also managed to create secondary tiles for any of these buttons. When I isolate the following code to create a chart, the result is normal. But when I call it from a control, duplicate legend and Y-axis scales and labels appear.

Using any version of .NET how do you find out which zone a particular share is classified under. I am having a problem identifying if a share where my referenced dlls reside is in the "intranet zone" or "internet" zone relative to some user machine that is running my .NET application. I suspect this is a problem because I am having a problem accessing referenced dlls from a share on some machines but not others. How can I tell which zone .NET is classifying that share in so I can adjust permissions accordingly?

I am developing an application for an emergency services organisation using VB 2008 that will enable users to select a map zone of a city centre and plot icons onto it, then save/export the layered map with icons as an image.My problem at the moment is that I am struggling developing the point where the user imports in the icon (for example, a flame icon where a fire started) and drags it around the map within the picture box to the required area.I want them to be able to select their desired icon from a series of commandbuttons and for the icon to 'appear' on the picturebox and be enabled to be dragged around and dropped as required. The organisation already has such a thing working in Microsoft Word (!) and that uses the ActiveDocument.Shape.LoadImage function on a pushbutton to import the icon and then it is placed on the map as required, but this is really unreliable for them.I dont even know if you can layer images onto an existin picturebox within an application in this way and then export as a flat image.

So I currently have the following:
2 timers
2 labels
1st label is "Clock" this pulls the time from the users current time zone/local time
2nd label is "UTCClock" Which would be UTC time
Now I have this for the first label: clock.Text = Format(TimeOfDay, "hh:mm:ss tt")
Which would give the users current time zone/local time. As for the UTC.. how would I add in for the UTC time from where the user is located at? I did some searches.. but couldnt find what I was looking for.. IM pretty sure its not as easy as getting the users current time zone/local time.. So im assuming that Theres a "bit more" code into getting UTC time..

Now I have updated the project to use .NET Framework 3.5 without modifying source code, but I have found that : the Remoted DateTime values can not be converted to the equivalent local time of a remote computer that is in a different time zone. is it possible to make one application send a task to another application and recieve the result from that secondary app?i made a text editor program and i added a scan feature and i made another app that has ocr capabilities.The scanner ability is in my text editor program, the ocr program doesnt scan you have to input an image into it and it will give text result a few seconds later.the prob is alot of times the ocr code uses sooo much memory and crashes when its incorporated with my text editor, but individually each application works fine and doesnt take too much memory. Memory wont be even an issue if the ocr program is standalone so that when it is done decoding image the application can be made to exit. now here is the question, how do i make my text editor send the image to the ocr program and how do i make my ocr program send the text back to my text editor? is it possible? i mean the only way i know off is creating temp files in a certain folder and having a timer on each program that keeps waiting for temp files. That just seems like pretty lame coding to me i was wondering if there's a better way?
