C# - External Comments Are Included In The Reverse Order, .Net Visual Studio
Sep 10, 2011
ETA: Visual Studio 2010 VB Express edition exhibits the same behaviour.
ETA: Visual Studio 2010 C# Express edition does NOT exhibit the same behaviour.
In VisualStudio 2008 VB Express edition, I specify the following comments:
If I compile the file and examine the .xml, I see that the comments are being included in the reverse order to what I specify ie. Part3 appears before Part2 appears before Part1.
Additional behaviour: If inline comments are interspersed between the external includes, they are all written to the xml first and then the includes (in reverse order)!
let there be an option called 'Turn off unintuitive xml comment behaviour'

When investigating effective methods of documenting our VB .NET project, by experimentation I discovered that I can make a comment like'See the file at file://path_to_file and I can then ctrl-click on this link to bring up the file in a new tab. Is this feature and perhaps other capabilities of Visual Studio comments documented anywhere? I would like to make a system of documentation consisting of an html pages that link to code, and vice versa.
I'm trying to put newlines in my XML Comments in VB.Net. I've read two other posts about C#, XML multiline comments in C# - what am I doing wrong? Adding line breaks to comments for Intellisense But the suggested <para> or <br/> tags don't work. This,
When you change a dataset schema (example you add a new table) in Visual Studio 2010 (Visual Basic), you must rebuild your project in order to use the new table in a control, is that a new thing or is this a bug?
I have defined a class with multiple constructors so that the underlying interfaces are immutable once the object is instantiated. I would like one of the constructors to be the "default" constructor for when a user types the following in Visual Studio:
var obj = new MyClass( Dim obj As New MyClass(
Currently when I go to instantiate the object, the constructors aren't listed (in Visual Studio IntelliSense) in the order I declared them in my class. Is there a way to mark up my constructors so that their methods appear in a particular order during instantiation in Visual Studio IntelliSense?
I write an HTML file with MS Word, and use it on my application. The problem is that I need to close Word or Visual Studio in order to save the file, or compile the code, because each one reserves the file permission rights. The html file is only written by word, and only read from VS. At compile time, the file is copied to execution directory. Is there a way to give both programs simultaneous permission rights?
When you add a file that the project will use (in my case an Excel file) and set it to be copied to the output directory, you can of course add a string to a class with the file name in it to use the file. I was wondering though does Visual Studio automatically generate a member somewhere that contains the name of the file? Perhaps in the My Namespace?
Kind of like how when you set the Build Action to Resource, Visual Studio generates a member in the My.Resources namespace for reference. Whenever I change the name of the file in the Solution Explorer it would be nice if I had some method that would automatically update the file name in the code.
I know how to use the <include> keyword from my code to refer to a member in an external comments file. Something like: <include file="Comments.xml" path="Docs/ClassName/Members[@name='DoIt']/*" /> However, I have members in the Comments.xml file which are repeated that I would like to split out and refer to within the Comments.xml file itself. As an example, it could be an argument definition that is used multiple time. I've tried the same format as above, but it doesn't work.
I have cut and paste the fifty states on one box in the order in which they entered the union. I have two buttons, one to alphabetize the states and one to reverse alphabetize the list. Here is the code for alphabetizing the list:
Private Sub btnAlpha_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAlpha.Click lstOutput.Sorted = True
[Code].....
How can I put the list in reverse abc order without using an array? I've tried a variation of the above code, but it did not work?
I'm trying to use a stack object to reverse the order of words (not letters) in a sentence. I'm fairly sure that the split and push methods are working, but I can only get the first word (i.e. the first word in the original sentence), to be displayed.
I have the following code:
Private Sub btnReverse_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnReverse.Click Dim s As New Stack
Text is entered into a textbox form. Upon button click, the order of characters in the words in textbox.text string will be reversed. The order of the words themselves will stay the same. For example: "I Love Visual Basic 2010." will be converted into "I evoL lausiV cisaB .0102".
I hope that I'm not just overlooking something, but I am really struggling with working with an array. To simplify my issue: Suppose you type out the values: 1 through 5 into a textbox (1 2 3 4 5). I'm looking to convert that string to an array, so that I can reverse the order and then show the new order in the textbox.
i my Vb.net aplication on the winform after clicking a button user can see arintpreview of a table as below digit number in column 1 and column 3 print out in revers order !!i checking all line of aplication not finde any problemif i removing column 4 (persian sentence) print out No reverse order print !! maybe problem is have mixing left to right and right to left font ? on a line procdure to produce any column of this table for preview and print out is as below
Dim Fi as bouble= 1234 Dim text as string= Fi.ToString("G", nfi) Dim drowformt1 as sringformat
In Visual Basic 2008 Express edition: Create a new string replacing the order of the words, from last one to the first one and show it in a text box..Example: Input: This is an example Output:example an is Thisť..I know theres a function to reverse the letters (StrReverse), but the order of the words?
WebMatrix is a web development and deployment tool by Microsoft so how is this compared to Visual Studio? which Use C# Razor Syntax is that more better coding.
I have to compile projects which was compiled in Visual Studio 6 in Visual Studio 2005. When i compiled i got a set of same error. I opened the project for VS6 by selecting File->open->project/solution and tried to build a solution by Build option but i am getting the following error.
I have to develop an application using MS Visual Studio 2005 or above with the following objective:
* The application should allow users to create as many new forms as they want and each form should behave like a MS Visual Studio WinForm. By saying that it should be a container for drag and drop of controls from the toolbox that I will develop....
* Once the user design's each screen to his taste by placing various controls on the form, he should be able to save the form as a screen. Of course I have to provide functionality for each of the controls such as if he drags a button on to the form, he should be able to specify what action it has to perfom when clicked when the application is put into run mode. Quite similar to regular windows form button.
* My application should have two modes: a DESIGN MODE, where user can drag, drop controls and specify what they should do when put into RUN MODE. This is quite similar to MS Visual Studio designer.
* Last but not least is to be able to access the application via the browser with the same look and feel his desktop version.

Will i be able to successfully install 2010 beta 2 side by side 2008? because i want to test 2010 features and some development toolkits such as silverlight while i don't want to uninstall my visual studio 2008 professional.
I have a Visual Basic project and when working and modifying code, the compiler will crash and then a message will say something like "Microsoft visual studio encountered a problem and was shut down." I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash. Solution will compile and build.
I would like to either generate VB Code from UML or vice versa UML from Code. Does anyone know some UML tools for VB6 or VB.Net that can do this?Is it possible with Visual Studio 2010?
How to create a Random quiz? I use groupboxes for every questions that i have because it has 10 items per quiz then i have 10 groupboxes. Another problem is, i was planning to create a .swf file in my visual studio project actually a button to make it more fascinating to use but it is possible to have a .swf file on my project and every time i click the button on ".swf" file the visual studio form will appear.
I need to reverse a string of words without using the reverse function. This is what I have so far, BUT it only shows the last two letters. For example: if i type "John" it will only give me "ho"
Public Class frmReverse Dim original As String Dim New1 As String
[code]....
I need to this without using things we haven't seen in class.
