C# - Make An Object Accessible To Only One Other Object In The Same Assembly?

Each business object has a matching object that contains sql calls. I'd like to restrict these sql objects in a way where they can only be used by the matching business object. How can this be achieved?
Update Greg brought up the point about testability. Since the SqlObjects will contain very business-process specific sql I don't want them reused in multiple buiness objects. (Basic CRUD operations are all code-generated) Is there a way to make the SqlObjects accessible to only one business object in the business assembly (like yshuditelu and Greg Beech showed) AND expose the SqlObjects to the unit testing assembly?

I am somewhat new to object oriented programming and am attempting to flatten a Linq object hierarchy by using a shim class.how to initalize a derived class with property values from a base class?I have two objects, a base object with about 100 properties, and a derived object which inherits from the base object and adds a few additional properties beyond those of the base object. My simple constructor creates the derived object, but I am looking for a way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object.Right now I am using reflection to iterate over the properties individually and I suspect there may be a better way. The following example shows my shim class constructor for the derived class, and two properties:
newProperty1 - a new string property of the derived class
flattenedProperty2 - a new string property of the derived class, copied from a 2nd-level object of the base class

Is this the correct constructor approach to flatten the object hierarchy using a shim class? My second question relates to initialization of properties in the derived class. The constructor above creates the derived object, but what is the best way to initialize the derived object properties with values from the base object? I have an assembly in VB .NET 2.0 that I am trying to use to call a webservice.This will be COM visible, and return the results to Access in VBA.The .NET Assembly passes all tests and executes perfectly.I was experiencing "Object does not support this property or method" errors when calling the methods from VBA.I broke it down to a certain object that was being returned and added some test methods to the .NET DLL.There is a "Patient" object I want to return.It looks like this (made it very very simple to test it):

I've got a pretty general question about the best practice in passing an object reference to a Form in VB.NET. My form is a dialog and I've created an overload ShowDialog method, where I pass an Object into it ByRef.
The trouble is, I want to be able to refer to that Object throughout my dialog Class and not just in the ShowDialog method. For instance, some of my Events for controls on the form, need to reference that object.
I know I could create a local Private variable in the Class and assign it to the passed value, and then use that value. However I'm thinking this isn't very efficient because it would (I believe) create a new copy of the Object (which is a complex, large class in itself).

I have an RDLC report that I am rendering directly to the Response Stream as PDF (rather than using the ReportViewer). In the code that renders the report, it's DataSource is bound to a List(Of ClassA) objects defined in a custom assembly. This seems to work for the most part. My problem is that I can't seem to handle the situation where a nested object is null. For example, given ClassA and ClassB (the nested object) defined as follows:

Public Id As Integer
Public Name As String

the report displays "#Error" if TheNestedObject is null. If TheNestedObject is not null, it correctly displays the Name.

I'm trying to set the format of a column in a datagridview.When I put the format statement in the on load event for the form, it has no effect. I know how to handle a single objects property changed event very easily. I want to handle a objects property changed event that is part of another object.
Given Object:

+ Public WithEvents X As ObjectX
I would like to do something like:

Right now I need to create a object that equals the object inside that object and then handle this variable pointers property changed, but that is just annoying.

I have recently gotten my hands on a free, open-source IMAP connection API.So far, I have been successful in creating a connection to one of my accounts.Where I'm getting stuck is retrieving folders and/or emails from those folders.Does there happen to be anyone here that is familiar with this API, or even Gmail (particularly the folder structure for IMAP)?

When I run that code, I get an error that states:System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not sent to an instance of an object. (The bold line in the above code).
Now, I'm not sure exactly what that means. Does that mean it tried to access the server and "INBOX" doesn't exist so it gets returned a NULL value? Or is it possibly the coding itself?Maybe the Gmail folder system is weird due to the fact they use labels (even though from what I have read online, the labels act as the folders in the IMAP system).
