C# - Detect New Mails In An Exchange Server Mailbox?

Aug 8, 2011

I have a mailbox that gets alerts from different servers from time to time. Each time, we get this alert, I want it to perform a custom action based on the contents of the email.And I would like to keep it as a service in (C# or VB.net) which can be run from anywhere. Is there an API for reading this?

WebDav To Validate A Mailbox Exists On An Exchange Server?

Aug 12, 2009

6 program to VB .NET 2008 that had code that used the CDO 1.21 DLL to validate if a mailbox entered existed on an Exchange server. I saw the one posting from Microsoft that states that CDO is not supported on the .NET Framework. As this is a client application, the article recommended using WebDav to interact with the Exchange Server.

Creating An Exchange 2007 Mailbox

Dec 21, 2010

Apologies if this is in the wrong sub-forum. My organization has a custom application for creating and managing AD users and exchange mailboxes. Under exchange 2003 this worked perfectly. Earlier this year we implemented exchange 2007. Some alterations were made to the code to keep it running - and successfully creating mailboxes. This worked up until we removed the last exchange 2003 server.

Adding Mailbox With VB - Upgrade To Exchange 2010?

Jan 21, 2011

We are getting ready to convert to Exchange 2010. Currently we're using VB code to add new users to AD and create mailbox for them with specific settings. I've been trying to figure out - what do I need to change in my code in order for the code to work in Exchange 2010 environment. I've seen some references about using Powershell in a remote environment and guessing that AddPSSnapIn will no longer work. Not sure about hardcoding username and password for remote access. Is there any way to avoid it? Whose u/p should it be anyway? AD user who runs the code? Below I'm posting the code that we using in Exchange 2007. Please let me know what I need to change?

Sql Server - Import Email From AD Mailbox?

Apr 2, 2012

We have an old legacy SQL 2000 server (the last in the farm) - We've been unable to get rid of this server as it uses xp_findnextmsg, xp_readmail etc to monitor a mailbox (via mapi) and import all email to that address into a database. The database contains simple tables that store "from", "to", "subject", "body", "Sent Date" & so on.As you may know, the procs above are no longer in use in SQL 2005+This table is read from dozens of internal systems, for instance emails to this mailbox can be automatically picked up by our helpdesk systems & create calls etc.My question is this: what it the easiest / modern way of doing this in SQL 2008+? Is it going to be a case of writing a .net binary / service that will use smtp or something to connect to a mailbox and insert the data into SQL or is there a simpler way to do it? (SSIS / 3rd party tools / pre-existing code / projects?)

Just thought I'd ask before i start writing something - no point re-inventing the wheel as it were.

PS: The Mailbox in question is an exchange 2010 mailbox.Edit: This functionality was hinted to be re-introduced in 2008 & dbmail: http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/feedback/details/126167/xp-readmail-replacement-for-sql-2005 but it looks like it failed to materialise!

Edit 2: I've just found a decent code sample here that utilises the new web services in exchange 2007+: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/dd2b465b-b1d2-4c0d-82ec-c36c6c482d5d - experimenting in progress (has anyone ever worked with SQL and the Exchange web services?)

Edit 3: All done! I knocked up a .net service that sits on our exchange server and monitors a mailbox & pushes any new mail into SQL. Incase others have a similar question and need some sample code to get started - here is some rough code (chopped out of my service - replaced parameterised SQL with basic dynamic SQL for easy reading): (Note: you'll need the EWS API 1.1 dll)

Unable To Get Large Mails From Server (POP Or IMAP)?

I am developing a vb.net desktop application that reads mails from the mailserver using pop and imap. The application is almost fnished .The problem is the some time when a command is send to retrieve a mail using GetMessage() functions the applications is going to a halt. So I tried to run the the code in debug mode and ran line by line.

What I noticed is in the while loop in GetMessage() function is
While Not tmpString.StartsWith(sPrefix)
tmpString = reader.ReadLine
msg = msg & tmpString & vbCrLf
End While

The reader reads line by line at certain point of time it got hangs. Some times it ill catch an exception and give an error. I am pasting the exception below:
"Received an unexpected EOF or 0 bytes from the transport stream".
But some times the applications will hang and go for a halt. This applications has to run 24/7. So if it hangs in the night or it will be problem. What I want is if the reader is not able to read from the stream after certain time period. The control has to be removed from the reader and the function has to return a message. I am new to this the network level applications and I am running shot of time.

Public Sub connect()
Dim objTCP As New TcpClient
Dim sslstream As Net.Security.SslStream
Dim reader As StreamReader = Nothing

VS 2008 Sending Mails - Acting Like A Server?

Jun 20, 2010

I have a software under contruction for a small firm. And it requires email functionality. That is, whenever the users in the main database reaches the payment date, an email will be send to that user as a reminder.Or, in certain period, the admin needs to send a notification mail to all the users in the main database.

So, how can I incorporate that facility in my main app ?My present idea is to create a separate app for send the mails. That is, when the admin compose the mail and selects a bunch of users (as recipients) from the database, all the message will be saved to another database (for mailing application) and will start the mailing app. This mailing app will check it's database for any pending emails to be sent, and if there exists any pending mails, it will start sending one by one. After sending each mail, it will remove that from the database.

What's your idea ? Does it sounds ok to you I don't want the user of my main app to know that there exist another program, running in background, sending emails.

Communications :: Reading Exchange Server Emails?

I am writing an application to grab attachments from messages in a particular folder in an Exchange server account and then process them. The processing of the attachments should be no problem, but what I don't know how to do is to connect to the Exchange server and access the messages.

What I would like to know is what references and imports I need, and how to access the various objects in the object model. I have been looking at CDO already, but I have had problems finding help on the Internet that is relevant to VB.NET.

For example, I'd like to know how to create the Exchange object, log in and navigate to the folder that has the relevant messages in it.

Server-Client Data Exchange Using MySQL (.Net)?

May 3, 2012

I developed a simple examination system with registration forms. I used VB.Net as the programming language. I haven't tried manual coding for my problem yet.Anyway this is a project for the company from which I am an intern. The plan is to get every client pc to have this examination/registration application and this application will send the personal info and the score to a central database(server pc).I used MySql as the dbms and developed the application on the same machine which means that the Database server I used is only on the local host.

Now I was about to try to implement the application to one client pc(as a beta test) and installed the necessary files(.net framework) and I also installed MySQL Server(and workbench) in the server pc.When I run the application in the client PC it didn't detect/connect to the ServerPC's MySQL server instance and therefore was not able to record the dummy values I input in the client application. Take note I changed the connection string of my app to point to the ip address of the serverPC.

Should I install the MySQL Server(and Workbench) to every ClientPC so that I can create a server instance that uses the REMOTE HOST option and configure it such that it will connect to the SERVERPC's Database?How should I setup the server so it gives access to the application I installed in all clientPCs?

Validate Email Address On Exchange Server?

Nov 9, 2010

I'm allowing users to manage a distribution list stored in a database. Users are only allowed to enter emails that are @mydomain.com. A web based application then takes the distribution list and sends emails. I'd like to validate that the email is valid before sending an email from the application.

To send an email I'm using this code:

Dim SendTo As String = "ThisIsNotARealEmailAddress@mydomain.com"
Dim SentFrom As String = "me@mydomain.com"
Dim MessageBody As String = "blah blah blah"

[Code]....

Is there anyway to validate the email when the email address is added to the database, instead of a try catch block when sending the email?

I have tried to set it as my own user name and password, but still not working.Secondly, can some explain a little to me about XmlHttp40.responseText? What it should return? A file name in the server or? How can I let the server know what file need to be saved? and to where?
