Iam a foxpro programmer and i use to add commands and user functions to a grid, like search for the data i need and add it to the next column.textbox, do calculations , i can easily manipulate a grid in foxpro , so my question is can i do the same in a gridview in vb.et and how ?

I'm trying to create a program that does the following:Executes the following command line string (wmic /node:computername bios get serialnumber)Prompts user for the "node" entry Displays the resulting serial number in a dialog box I'm a bit of a noob at this (I haven't coded anything in VB since early 2000s) so I'm at a bit of a loss where to start. I plan on including some functions to submit the node entry and the resulting serial number to a database in the future for archiving as well.

When I click the button I called the function and datasource binded to propertyyGrid, its working fine. The idea of the query is that I want to specify an OrderId, and I want all Oven Loads that have items from that order in them, as well as ALL OTHER ITEMS in those loads, even though they could be from other orders.The query works as expected, but I'm not able to use it for my Crystal Report I've written it for.I have put this query into a User Defined Function, however I'm unable to use a call to that function as a table source in my Crystal Report. I am using Visual Studio 2003 (I know it is old, the client refuses to upgrade).
Now what i want is that when user select some option from the combobox then some of the cells only in the same row get filled automatically according to the selected option.
like if there are 4 fields in grid : emp_id , name , age , salary
and id column is of type combobox then on selecting the particular emp_id from the list , its coressponding name get displayed in the same row and then user can enter the other fields.similarlly when the emp_id get selected in the 2nd row of grid then 2nd row column "name" get filled.
I have a usercontrol that contains a datagridview and a toolstrip. When creating a windows form that contains 2 of the mentioned usercontrol i gate for example c1 and c2 where both contains for sure the datagridview and the toolstrip hving the same control name for example G and t. in my case i want to apply the security on each form, i do this by reading the access of each control inside the windows form and if the control on the form was a user control then i dont consider it as one entity instead but as a grid alone and a toolstrip alone in order to be able to apply its security accordingly. but in ma case, if i want to disable the first grid and enable the 2nd i wont be able to do so since both grids have the same name. is there any solution for the above.
View 2 Repliesiam currently working on my uni project and i have encountered a problem with valadation section.My system displays a message telling the user to input any fields that they have missed out on, listing the name of the field. However as these IF functions are in order the user must input the data in the order of how it is in the code. for example if the "consweight" is inputed and the calculate button is pressed, it thinks that all valadation above it has occured, when those fields are still empty.

In this application I need to allow users to enter a month as integer (1-12) then use integer tryparse to validate that input, that seems to be the easy part. I need two create two functions, one that returns the name of the month and the other returns the number of days in that month. The arrays are supposed to be defined and initialized within the function so that the main program can take the user input and call the two functions, then return the appropriate values as output to labels. I am not sure how to declare the arrays in their appropriate functions and then how to call those functions to retrieve the right value from the function.

This works fine. But when the grid is dropped on a TabControl tabpage, the ctrl-tab looks very different to the sub above. e.keycode is seen as controlkey {17} I realize that by default cntrl-Tab moves between tabpages. I need to override this behavior. My thought is I probably need a subclass of the tabControl which will pass the keycombo through just as the form does but I confess to being clueless as to how to accomplish that. I tried to override the onkeydown of a tabcontrol subclass and just issuing a return and not and base call to onkeydown if the ctrl-tab combo was pressed but it seemed to see the e.keycode as controlkey as well.

It has many reports and a pain to compile and roll out.I'd like to make a root user interface that "calls" the functions and subs remotely.I was concidering pulling them and making formless exe's of them, passing the needed criteria via command line. Yet still be able to update and control them.

I have several List(of Class) items as public properties and when I click on the design time menu (while testing the control) there is the word "Collection" and a button with an ellipsis (...) that brings up a neat pop up with the buttons Add/remove and all of the public properties of the collection's class on the right hand side. Basically for a non-collection instance of a class (with public properties) I'd like a similar button to show up. I know I could put all of the properties in the main control class and group them, but I like the pop up box feature. Anyway to duplicate this? (think font grid item etc.)
