I have a data grid, and I am pulling data from a mysql table. How can I populate my grid with the data? I also want it so when someone double clicks the item it will perform an event. How can that be done as well?

Actually I am working on my project "Library Management System" and I have to print the results of the DataGridView. Like if I search for an author in the book catalogue, the results are shown in the datagird, I need to print those results to printer. I may be the selected or the whole page. View 1 Repliesi am having sum textboxes and combos which have been populated accordingly. as in the attchment i enter the data in the textboxes/select values 4m combo and when click on save button all the related text is added to the datagridview's respective col. as desired. the problem is now that if suppose a user enters a wrong data and wants to edit/update the record already added the he will select the desired record from datagrid, double click and all the related data appears again on the combos and textboxes. the user then edits and click on save so that the selected record gets updated

I am almost there but for some reason I don't find the answer to my issue. Here it goes. In my application I have a form which displays a data grid view with some info I get through XML from a web server. The data grid view have as first column a Check Box colum. The second column have the information I get into a variable (from cells), one by one, to pass it to the sub with the XML command.
What I want to do is to be able to select all the rows and send the cell info of the second row (only for the selected rows) to my sub which will execute once then send the second cell info and execute the sub and so on until all the loop is complete. Currently my code works only if I delete one row at a time (sending the XML code will delete the info in the web server and update the datagridview which in return will remove the item).

I have two Datagrids, One grid has all the customers garments on it with style number and contact length. The other grid has the users who have garment issued to them. the style number is in both grids. I need to loop through the users grid and say if the contract number is 1 from the first grid then the contract date on the second grid will be todays date + 365 days (year contract) I have looked at using a stored procedure and also a for each command but I am just getting stuck with it all. Im using a combobox that bound to a DataSet. The Dataset retreives it's values from SQL.
I can retreive the values fine. However only displaying (1) Column. Which is fine.
Here's where it gets complicated for me. The dataset has 2 other columns that get filled. I need the resulting columns to be sent to text boxes when I select a value from the combobox.
How could I add array values and populate the results in a specified text box?Then repeat for each line after. Then get a final total.
For example:

I'm trying to populate it with the results from a table in a dataset, something like Dim MyStringArray() as string = {Me.MyDataset.MyUsers.Rows.Tostring}. So I would end up with, StringArray() = {"Bob", "Jane", "Sally"}. I know I'm missing something very simple but I'm just not getting it.

I do however have a slight background with VBA particularly with MS Access, so I am not completely lost.I am recreating my Access database application in VB.net.I created a new project and added an Access database through the wizard, which automatically created a dataset for the database. On one of my forms I have, esentially, a search form. What I want to happen is have a text box, and as I start typing display a search result from my customers table in the list box under it. So for example, I type "A" and all customer names that start with "A" are displayed in the list box.I continue typing with a "p" (full string is now "Ap"), then all customer names that start with "Ap" are displayed and so on...
I did search on my own first before posting this and found a few tips but cant really get it to work the way I want. This is what I have... I know I would put this code in the keypress event of my test box, but just until I get it working I attached it to a button to search. (I basically got this online and not even sure its the correct usage.

The item in red is where i get an error. it sucessfully builds and i open the find form enter a last name that I know is in the customers table, but I get the error "Cannot find Column ["whatever name i typed inthe text box"].So first of all is this the correct way of going about what I want to achieve?If so how can I get it to work?BTW the next step for the user would be to double click the customer in the list box they are searching for to open the customer Details form for that customer, so I would need an ID or Index attached to that item to be able to open that record in another form.
I use Vb 2003 and SQL server as the DB. The SQL server is on the server. I use a RS to populate the Data grid. But for some reason the it wont populate and I will have to get out of my program and then load it back on for the RS to populate the grid. I tried putting a message box just to give the RS to receive its data from the SERVER but still it wont work. It does not happen all the time. I don't think it is a problem with VB or SQL SERVER, I think the Server is not returning the request.
View 11 RepliesI have DataGridView control which i populate with some rows from the database the database table which i work with changes a lot so every 30 seconds I re-query the database to check if there is new record or existing record changed or record deleted, I can't clear and re-populate the grid view because people might work with it and they're might doing some changes in some rows.
so if the row was changed i just want to update the changes in the existing row without recreating it, if some row deleted i want to remove it and if a row was added i want to add the new row.

I've populated my DataTable will all the results from a SQL search. Upon a button click I want to populate a combobox with all the results where a condition is met. My DataTable as a column called UserID and I want to add all results where the UserID is equal to a set value (for example 12). I can do this to add all results and I guess I could add a if statement inside this to be If Entry.Tag = 12 Then but is there a better way?

I have a DataGridView control that is bound to a dataset that I set up in design mode. This grid will contain addresses for a client. The relationship is 1 client to many addresses. So, when the user selects a client, I wish for this grid to populate with only the address records for that client. How do I set up in code a way for the grid to recognize this?

See the picture below:We've tried looking through all of the properties of the DataGridView control, and found some interesting things that looked promising such as the DataGridViewAdvancedHeaderStyle, and DataGridViewHeaderBorderStyle, but none of it seems to allow you to change the colors on it.Does anyone know how to do this without remaking the entire thing with a GDI+ control?

which usually contains: 4 so when i loop out the names, it loops the 4 results, 4 times, instead of just showing me the names 4 times so i can then store them
I have the below code that i am trying to have two datagrids with a grid splityter in the middle. The split seems to be working fine but the issue i am having is when I populate the datagrid it is growing in height and changing the splitter instead of leaving the height alone and adding scroll bars.
What simple thing am I overlooking?
