It seems like when there is only one row at the data grid view with a data source pointing to a data table, it's row state for the data table doesn't change when editing. It remained "unchanged" reguardless to how many columns I had entered. However,after editing, when you click on a different row or click on any of the column headers to change their sorting, the row's state from the data table then gets changed to "modified". I'm not sure why the data table's row states gets changed only when you do those things instead of finishing editing itself. Couldn't the data grid view be able to change the data table's row states when you finished editing a cell?

the combox shows 4 cases {A,B,C,D}
what I need to do is if the user select "C"
the the colreporttime will show the time of this change unless the old value is C
I am using VS2008 and I have a form which has a datagridview. This is for an invoice where I already have the user select the customer from a details view and want to have the items in the datagridview change based on what the customer selected. Then when the item is selected I want to have the price change accordingly.
So far I have the customer selction as well as the item combobox(not limited to cust items yet) appear, but I cannot figure out how to get the join of the 2 items (cust+item as the price varies from cust to cust) to change the price. Question is, is it possible to do this in the same datagridview, or should i try to just break this down some other way?

Cell provided already belong to a grid". Index 243 exists.
When I try to change the datasource of my DataGridView, I am loosing the order of the columns and their type(checkboxes,comboboxes) that i specified on designtime! i have to do a system that will trigger an alert. i need to change the color of the box in datagrid view to certain color, according to it's condition.
as example, the first alert will be trigger if there is any values that are below 5. so all box in the datagridview that contains value less than 5 will change to red color.

View 5 RepliesI'm selecting value from my database, passing it to datatable then giving DataGridView.DataSource value of datatable.The thing is that in those rows i'm also selecting some dates and problem is that my default date in database is '1900-01-01 00:00:00' because i use "smalldatetime". And what i want is this...when I find default value in database i want to show it like an empty string, like i said...because date is in smalldatetime format i can't do this in SQL query so i wonder how can I change this in DataTable or even better in DataGridView...of course, in code?

I have two data tables. the second related to the first. Using a datagridview for the first table I am able to enter and save data ok. if I run the code twice in a row the data is still there. The columns format can't be changed. I cannot change the number format whatever I do.
I cannot get a tool-tip to appear over a DataGridView object, although checking Microsoft's advice, it should do so, as I assume I have a DatSource property NOT set to 'Nothing' for the said DGV. ( I believe this is right, as the columns sort alphabetically, when I click the column headers ! As normal ) If I can get this to work, is there a way to get the underlying data from a Mouse Hover ( Cell Enter ) event, from the cell in question to modify the Tool-Tip's caption ?

I may have missed the solution to this problem, but in my database I have 2 columns that cannot be null and a system.NoNullAllowedException message is displayed if they are mt. I want to change this message to simply indicate that the cell cannot be null, instead of the huge message with all of the information which is of no use to the user. I cannot seem to find where to change this message. When the exception is thrown I would like to see the message say something like "Empty cell not allowed".

I would like to change the backcolor of the cell in a row based upon the value of a checkbox in another cell. The value of cell 2 would be a checkbox, so it is either true or false. If it is true, then color the backcolor of just cell 1?
