Change The Designer File Then That Msbox Is Shown?
Jan 1, 2010
I have use Devcomponent tool for design. Last night i have copied controls and have edited some changes. And now ANY TIME I debug my program show :
---------------------------
Microsoft Visual Studio

The control DevComponents.DotNetBar.NavigationBar has thrown an unhandled exception in the designer and has been disabled.
Exception:
The file D:PROGRAMRESTAURANTHQ2HQQLBH1.0MainformTrangchu.vb cannot be modified in the designer while building or debugging.
Stack trace:

Have you met that error ?
I click OK and program still fine. But when i change the designer file then that msbox is shown.
I moved a project so I could work on it in two places. When I opened the project, I have only worked on it from one computer, my form did not show in the solution explorer so I moved it back. I opened the project and everything was there but I was not able to see my form layout in designer view. The code is there and it builds and looks right but I can't see any of my form components and I need to edit some properties.
I'm using VB.Net. I have a WPF User Control called "NavigationPanel" which I created with the Designer. By default, its scope is Public. When I change its scope to Friend in the file NavigationPanel.xaml.vb, I recieve the following error:
When I develop a Windows Forms app in Visual Studio using C#, every control that I add to my form is by default marked as private, which is what I want.
When using VB.NET, every control is by default marked as Friend (the equivalent of internal in C#), which is not what I want.
Can I just change this default? It seems like surely it's a setting somewhere.
I am attempting to update an existing winforms application, that was created with a dataset control on all the winforms pages. I have ported it from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and I need to update the database section and connect it to the SQL backend using traditional code method. In the Solution explorer, when I click on the Dataset files, and click "Exclude From project" I am unable to build the project. Is it advisable to comment out the code lines that refer to the dataset in the .designer.vb files?
In my dialog I want to prevent the user to browse freely in certain places (this is due to the fact that my application will be running in a terminal server environment). So I want to to limit the items that will be visible in the top combobox of the server. I want it to start with "My Computer" instead of the usual "Desktop". Furthermore I only want to add mapped network drives under "My Computer" so that the user won't be able to see any local resources. With Spy++ I have been looking around at what happens when a FileDialog starts.
So far I have found that for each item in the combobox CB_SETITEMDATA and CB_INSERTSTRING methods are executed. By using a hook to the combobox I am able to intercept these messages, but sofar I am unable to determine the exact contents of what is inserted, so I am unable to determine wether it is the "Desktop" item or not.I have also discovered that the "My Computer" node is only added at the moment that the combobox is expanded. So I would need a way to get a handle to "My Computer" and insert an item for it manually
I have a report with a table containing about 10 fields. It starts out with a particular sort but the users would like to be able to change the sort interactively. The interactive sort on the textbox seems pretty limited. Is it possible
However, now when I open it in design view and add a new tableadapter I now cannot reference the new objects from the code. Likewise if I delete one of the existing tables in the dataset, it still appears to be there from the code (ie in intellisense)Similarly, when I examine the .xsd file, the changes I've made i the designer appear, but the changes are NOT happening in the dataset.designer.vb file. It's as if the two files are somehow out of sync
My project gets rather big. Now sometimes when loading the design file I get this error. But the project compiles without any problems and runs fine. Some one any idea where to start or what to do?
I don't want to allow some properties from going into form's designer file but the those properties will present on the form(property grid). The behavior of these properties will be same always.
I used the following code:
<DesignerSerializationVisibility(DesignerSerializationVisibility.Hidden)> Public Property GradientBegin() As Color = Color.Red
But the problem I am facing is that -> on the property grid after changing the "GradientBegin" color to other than RED and compiling the program, it is replacing the new changed value to RED again. So I am not able to change the color actually.
I am working in VB.Net 2010 framework 2.0. I don't want to allow some properties from going into form's designer file but the those properties will present on the form(property grid). The behavior of these properties will be same always. I used the following
[Code]....
But the problem I am facing is that -> on the property grid after changing the "GradientBegin" color to other than RED and compiling the program, it is replacing the new changed value to RED again. So i am not able to change the color actually. How can i achieve this?
I am creating a VB.NET (2005) GUI that uses several controls embedded into tab pages. When VB.NET autocompiles (if I switch windows) it adds lines of code to the .Designer file that causes errors:Windows' is not a member of 'System.Windows.Forms.TabPage'.is generated for:
Me.tbRxMinValidBits.TextAlign = System.Windows.Forms.HorizontalAlignment.Right The underlined part is what .NET is showing as the error.
I've created a component whose name I'd like to be able to change while editing in the component tray. I've added a Designer action for a name property, but now I'm stuck.
Looking at the property grid, I can see that the name property is parenthesised, indicating that it's not a regular property.
I am working in Visual Studio with a solution containing multiple projects. The solution is based on a co-worker's computer. I am trying to build the project, I get the following error:
Error 17 Unable to open module file 'C:DocumentsVisual Studio 2010Projects ReportCreatorMy ProjectApplication.Designer.vb': The system cannot find the file specified. C:DocumentsVisual Studio 2010ProjectsBlahBlahBlahReportCreatorMy ProjectApplication.Designer.vb 1 1 ReportCreator
It is on my co-worker's computer, but I don't see it in source control. He has ReportCreator checked out. How do I create Application.Designer.vb?
I've included an MS Access database in my WPF VB app, and I'm trying to link the data to an XCEED Datagrid. I have the following code in my testerDataSet.Designer.vb file which I assume is the funcion I should be referencing
Public ReadOnly Property Contact() As ContactDataTable Get Return Me.tableContact End Get End Property
I'm trying to get it to fill my datagirid using this <Grid.Resources> <xcdg:DataGridCollectionViewSource x:Key="cvs_contacts" Source="{Binding Path=Contact, *Source={x:Static testerDataSet}*}"/> </Grid.Resources> [Code] ..... What I'm trying to achieve is for the datagrid to display the data in the Contact datatable.
I am using Linq to Sql that generated a data contract for a table. I have a date field in that table which is a non-nullable field. I need to override the auto generated property of the date field to return a specific value, something like [code]Is it possible to override an autogenerated property in the designer.vb file using a partial class? I dont want to create a new property as it is currently being accessed in n number of places and I dont want to change it in every place.
I am creating a UserControl with rich design-time support that should eventually look like the Options window in Visual Studio (or many other applications). Basically a split container, to the left is a TreeView with 'option categories', and each node in the treeview corresponds to a 'panel' to the right with certain options.
Just for terminology, the nodes in the TreeView are OptionsNode objects, the panels (containing the controls that determine the options) are OptionsPanel controls. My UserControl itself is called OptionsView and is the control that contains the treeview as well as a panel that contains the OptionsPanels.
I have some experience in design-time coding, and I have gotten pretty far. The OptionsView control contains a property Panels that returns the ControlCollection of the right side of the split container. The user can add/remove OptionsPanels via this property (and automatically an OptionsNode is created). The property uses a custom CollectionEditor that tells the designer to create instances of type OptionsPanel (instead of just Control which is the usual collection type of ControlCollection). Furthermore, in the CreateInstance method I use the DesignerHost object and its CreateComponent method to create the panels, instead of just creating New OptionsPanel objects. This way the OptionsPanel created is selectable and editable (via property grid) during design-time:
vb.net Protected Overrides Function CreateInstance(ByVal itemType As System.Type) As Object If itemType Is GetType(OptionsPanel) Then
i have created my own custom propertythe property is of type collection ,it displays a form which allow the user to add a list of images and strings,it stores the data in a collection ,my problem is , i have noticed that after adding items to the collection at design time , there is no code generated in the .Designer file of the form and there for when i close the for / save it and reload it , all the items that i added to my custom property are gone.my question , what did i miss here ? how do i make my custom property generate code at the .designer file for the items i have added to my property?
When I open VB projects in Visual Studio 2005 and attempt to view a form view designer I have started getting "File Download - Security Warning" Message prompting a .tmp file in the location of my project. If I close all open designers and rebuild the project I am then able to open the designers OK.I saw a suggestion to 'restore file associations' in Visual Studio and tried this but with no success.
This may take some explaining but the concept is pretty simple. A user will select a file which contains data that they wish to extract from, so keeping it simple they pick a file like so:
[Code]....
So, I need to show the user the file, allow them to select a line to match and/or extract from. So they select the first line ready for a match, they then select a word/s to mark as a constant for matching, so in this case it would be: MyGroup A simple version for text match would be like "MyGroup *" Now, I need to convert this to regex dynamically (I assume its the best method), its not a one off, the data that is selected is all open and up to user selection. There could be multiple selections and multiple extractions on the same line!
So, I've got a text boxes which loads up a content from a XML file, usually a numbers I want a button, so when I will change the numbers on the text box, the data in file will change as well, in other words a save button That's how the data is being taken from a file
[code]...
Those EditPaths, Playa2 etc are making up a path to a file
My self and most everyone else on our team is having the same issue with VS2008. The designer will not render many forms in designer mode. Currently I am getting this error "The type 'Team.CAD.UI.My.Resources.Resources' has not property named 'view_16'" Well veiw_16 is in the resouces file.
The company has a Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate project that is written in Visual Basic. The project has several strings in the resources file (Resources.resx). One of those strings (VersionSuffix) contains "" when we are distributing a normal version of our product and "BETA" when we are distributing a beta version of our product. Most of the time we distribute a normal version of our product. Therefore, most of the time the resource string VersionSuffix contains "".
Recently, we attempted to distribute a beta version of our product. Therefore, we changed resource string VersionSuffix from "" to "BETA". However, it quickly became apparent that the resource string VersionSuffix was being used as the default value for several control properties in the form designer. For example, if I draw a rich textbox on a form then file FORMNAME.Designer.vb will contain the following.
Me.RichTextBox1.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(286, 306)
Me.RichTextBox1.Name = "RichTextBox1"
Me.RichTextBox1.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(134, 33)
We are unable to find anything anywhere that indicates that this resource string should be used as the default value for control properties. Therefore, we have no idea why this resource string is being used for this purpose. We would like to change the control property assignments in the designer from Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix
Me.RichTextBox1.Text = "" However, we don't know why these strange assignments are being made. Therefore, as soon as someone adds another control the problem will most likely return. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to prevent it from happening again?
