I know that I can launch activate/Use functions in assemblies that I have created, but can I start subs? and If so could I start Sub Main from an Assemble? What I mean is I want to run the created program in memory from a sub main and I dont know how .

How do you change the column type in a datagridview programmatically? I have several tables that I want to allow the user to update using the same form. Depending on the table, I need to change the column type to a checkbox instead of text. Following is the code that I run (just exchanging the table name and column #). Everything works well as long as I don't try to change the column type.

I am using vb.net framework 3.5. I am developing an windows application in that i am displaying the Richtextbox data on Web browser. But in my rtf data contains the Math type functions which are not properly displayed in the web browser. For changing the font i used the method like put the data in the richtextbox change the size and font and again update it . But it's not working for math type.
View 2 Repliesi am currently doing a project for my course. My project is creating a system for a mechanical workshop, this includes customer information, car information, expenditure ect. I am not allowed to use access to store the information as this will decrease my overall mark on difficulty hence i am going to use files to store the information. I am using VB 2005. I have tried with binary files, this was good at first as it stored data in a record but then when i tried to create a algorithm to search the data it failed.
1) Should i change my file from binary to text or another type?
2) Anyone have any ideas to search within a binary file? If you do can i get some code please.

For example, if I hit the drop down button on a combo box, there will be no data, but after switching to x86, there is data. How does changing the CPU type affect how others (such as when its being graded) view the program? If the program is not run on an x86 system, would it appear to not work then?
View 1 RepliesI am storing an array of a custom serializable class in session on my site. When a page on the site changes, suddenly it renders them invalid, and tells me that it can't cast the type to it's own type. I assume the class version numbers are changing or something?!

I've come from a Assembler and C/C++ background, so I understand the concept behind reference types versus value types in vb.net. Also, I've read Jon Skeet's article regarding references and value types and I understand all of that. My question is: How can you tell if a given type is a reference type or a value type? Is it simply that all integral types (ints, floats, etc.) are value types and all classes are reference types? (If so, where do strings fall?)

I now have SQL Parameters set up and I'm using them to save/delete/add my data. This all works well, except when it's trying to save a combobox to the datatable it appears with the error above.Majority of my comboboxes have datasources, and the valuemembers of these are the actual list items, not the ID's of the list items.I'm not sure why this error could be happening, I'm fairly sure I've connected everything to the binding source correctly; I've checked it a few times.Does anybody know what the cause of this could be?
