I need to check for specific words so that the program will know what smtp client will be used. For example. If the from textbox will have @yahoo.com on it then the program will make use of the smtp for yahoo.
I want to add the ability to spell check a few textbox fields on my form. I've seen a few thread on this forum regarding spell check, which works fine, but I also want that wavy red line under any misspelled words just like in Word.
I want to make the program check for a certain phrase/word in a sentence. Example- User types in google, program checks if theres an extension(or whatever its called)if there isn't, it will automatically put a .com after google.
I'm learning to Program in school and i use vb.net 2003. Im trying to create a letter count application that displays the number of times a specific letter occurs in a word o phrase. (uppercase lowercase letters should not be counted) I started out by doing the folllowing:
changing the way the site search is done from just search a phrase as one string to searching a phrase "as multiple words" search. For example, if I search "cute puppy" right now, it will search it for "cute puppy" as phrase and won't match just "cute" and "puppy". The way the search is implemented is by passing a search phrase to a Stored Procedure in SQL Server. So now, I need to change to site search so when "cute puppy" is searched, it will search two words.... "cute" and "puppy" instead of just "cute puppy". Below is how the store procedure is implemented
i need a little bit of help with the checkedlistbox. What i want to do is add a phrase or a reminder and if i check the checkbox of that item, i want the text to be strikeout (the text with a line in the middle) and when the form closes i want it be removed from the checkedlistbox.
I have a question that relates to identifying words or characters in text boxes.Okay, I know that I can identify the entire text with textbox1.text = "~~~~". But say I want to search for a specific part.e.i.(in textbox)Hello, how are you?(in textbox)How, in code, would I find and select, let's say, the word "how"?Please, if you can help, I need it. I want to learn as much as I can about Visual Basic so I can become a better programmer.
i am trying programming a program that open a txt file then get specfic data from each line then put the data1 in a textbox1 and data2 in textbox2.[code]and for each time i don't now the username or the password i want the programe to search in line 1 the word between "user=" to "" and the word between "password=" to "".I created the text reader and i hope that same one can help complete the project.[code]
I'd like to know if anyone has a code for or can direct me on how to select keywords given in a speech command and to ignore the other words. Example: Speech "The beach looks great today"
I want to use the word "beach" to trigger a function and ignore the rest of the speech.
I want to make visual basic read between <strong> and </strong> , and take out the "welcome back,".I want it to just say "itoknc". How could I do that with inner html?
I have a text file stored as a string variable. The text file is processed so that it only contains lowercase words and spaces. Now, say I have a static dictionary, which is just a list of specific words, and I want to count, from within the text file, the frequency of each word in the dictionary. For example:
Text file:
i love love vb development although i m a total newbie
Dictionary:
love, development, fire, stone
The output I'd like to see is something like the following, listing both the dictionary word and its count. If it makes coding simpler, it can also only list the dictionary word that appeared in the text.
WORD, COUNT
love, 2
development, 1
fire, 0 stone, 0
Using a regex (eg "w+") I can get all the word matches, but I have no clue how to get the counts that are also in the dictionary, so I'm stuck. Efficiency is crucial here since the dictionary is quite large (~100,000 words) and the text files are not small either (~200kb each).
I have an HTML string and in that string are certain variables that I need to replace with database values. The variable names are dynamic but all begin with the characters "@@" (just two ampersands, no quotes). Is there a way to get all the words in a string that start with "@@"? I'm assuming you would use regular expressions, but not sure how to begin.
My application is like this : i have to search my data from database with some check box and text box when user select check box specific function go on and then when user enters some range of value in textbox then the result will shown in data grid view after that i can print it by selecting data my vb.net code is as follow:
Let's say I have a textfile which contains paragraphs. Some of the paragraphs start with * or a > character. How do I index the words that start with these characters?
The following code checks a strings if it contains particular words and if yes it removes them. The problem is that it also removes characters that it shouldn't. For example: If user_input3 contains a word like lo(ok) it would remove the last characters ok. How can i modify the code to remove whole words only?
Is there a way to check specific pixels in a picturebox to check the color? Basically what I have is a black square with some white dots, and I want to find the position's in the picture of the white dots.
I was wondering if there's anyway to color stuff in a textbox? example: I have a big textbox and if I type hi in that textbox I want that text to become grey, and if I type bye I want the text to become red, any ideas?
btw, I took your advice from my latest thread and installed a stable version of 2005
I did some thinking and come up with the idea "if textbox1.text ="hej" then" set a color but then I realized the whole text would become to coded text, hmm..
i am trying to implement a programme that counts the words in a multiline textbox as you type. I can get it counting the words until i press the "enter" key and tyoe a word. it does not recognise this. this is my code:
i need to get ALL the words/items in the listbox to go INTO a textbox... i know how to do it the opposite way with lstbox1.items.add(txtbox1.text) - etc.... but it need to figure out how to make it go from LISTBOX to TEXTBOX. i've already tried stuff like "txtbox1.text = lstbox1.text" - that doesnt work, i've also tried "txtbox1.text = lstbox1.items", and just stuff like that, i've probably tried like 10 different things but none of them work im using VB 2008 Express Edition
