Let's say I have a PictureBox with an image of a house, for example, and I want to know if the user clicked on the roof, the door, the window, or the walls.
Is there some way to, maybe, set up an If statement so that it checks what the coordinates of the mouse click was and compares it to a set of pre-determined graphed points to decide what object was clicked?[code]....

I am fairly new to vb.net and the form includes 3 picture boxes in red which you can click and change their color to green, also each picture box have three text box associated with it and they are by default color dark gray. I want the system to check whether the picture boxes are clicked and if yes set the associated text box colours to white.
Here is the code I wrote:
Public Class Screen
Inherits Windows.Forms.Form
Dim T(1, 2) As TextBox
Dim S(2) As PictureBox
Dim x, i, j As Integer
[Code] .....

I have a form that starts at a specific point (the right side of the left screen on an extended desktop). I am trying to work with users with different resolution. Insteadof changing the resolution to match the application, I want to try and get the size of the desktop (1280 x 2 for an extended desktop, 800 x 2 for a different resolution) and set the form to the same point... the inside (right side) of the left screen on an extended desktop. Is there a way to tell how long the desktop is from left to right and top to bottom?

I'd like to check for all colors in an image. I've already came up with this:
Code:
Dim lst As New List(Of Color)
Dim img As Bitmap = System.Drawing.Bitmap.FromFile("C:image.jpg")
For x = 0 To img.Width - 1
[code]....
Unfortunately this needs to sweep through all the pixels, and it's EXTREMELY slow... method to get all colors in an image without sweeping through all pixels?

Simple question...is it possible to check the backcolor of an object, like a label for instance? What I want to do is check if a label's backcolor is green (or some other color) then have something else happen based off the color. Here is what I tryed, but neither worked...

I'm curious to know if there's a good way to see if an object is a System.Drawing.Color before I try casting it to one. Right now it seems the only way I can do that is to put it in a Try/Catch block and if it hit's the catch part then I know the object isn't a color.[code]I really don't like this because there's a slight flicker while it fires up the Exception handling and I would really rather use an If Else End If for this than a Try/Catch.

I have a form which contains a tab control with three tabs on it. On a second tab there is a PictureBox. The problem is I can't figure out how to check if the PictureBox is completely loaded.I can't put "pictureBox.CreateGraphics.DrawRectangle(Pens.Aqua, 100, 100, 100, 100)" into a form load event because picturebox is not active until I click on the tab2. It neither works with tab2.enter event nor any other events I have tried so far. However it works through the button.click event and it works briefly with the picturebox.paint event before its wiped out. So I presume it will work with a timer event as well.But the question is how to to make it work without a button or a timer?

I recently started wondering about how Microsoft would go about checking the text and checking its color, word order (spell check), etc. and I was trying to think of how they would do it if they were forced to write something, like Word or the text editor in Visual Studio, in Visual Basic.NET. Ways that I thought of could be using an array, setting a string to a word in that array, and check if that word is in the text. However, after I tried it, I realized I had to set the .SelectionStart property to zero, which got annoying if the document was long. Also, with arrays, though I could store the strings in a text file and read from that, I was limited to the number of items I could have, and I'm sure it would get frustrating if I added or subtracted a word (then having to back in the code and replace all of the instances of that array.)
Then I started thinking about streams. Though I have not tried them yet, I would imagine that if they had to be used, the problem of speed would come up again. But what if the stream only checked say 30 characters before and after the current selection start? Well, that would solve the speed problem, but it would bring up another. Every time the caret position changed, (if we were checking for color changing) we would be limited to those 60 characters. Say the word is "hello". What if "hello" began 31 characters behind the current SelectionStart? "h" would remain the same color, but "ello" would turn the default color (this is because we would have to reset the color everytime just in case the user changed a certain word.)

I'm wanting to add a some extra code within my application. My app is a single form that sets some environment variables before calling a one of two possible 3rd party executables to run. I have set via regedit the file association for files to open via my app but what I want to do is have my app check to see if either 3rd party app is already running. In short I'm trying to ensure either 3rd party app stays as a single instance.
If a user were to try an open another instance: 1) my application should simply terminate (no warnings, no msg boxes etc...) 2)the file that the user was trying to open should open within the existing instance of the 3rd party application. The problem is I don't quite know how to achieve both parts I imagine that this 'instance check' should happen as the first bit of code so that if no instance of either 3rd party app is found, then proceed with rest of my application. I have tested using some lines of code at the top of Sub New(). Here's what I have so far for checking for both 3rd party applications:
Public Sub New()
If IsProcessRunning("ustation") = True Then
Me.Close()
[code]....
This gives me an error when I debug (Cannot access a disposed object)
