Simple question...is it possible to check the backcolor of an object, like a label for instance? What I want to do is check if a label's backcolor is green (or some other color) then have something else happen based off the color. Here is what I tryed, but neither worked...
I'm curious to know if there's a good way to see if an object is a System.Drawing.Color before I try casting it to one. Right now it seems the only way I can do that is to put it in a Try/Catch block and if it hit's the catch part then I know the object isn't a color.[code]I really don't like this because there's a slight flicker while it fires up the Exception handling and I would really rather use an If Else End If for this than a Try/Catch.
I have a DGV with the Alternating row color set to grey.In the CellFormatting event on the DGV I want to go through the rows as if a cell contains a certain value I want to set the BackColor to red. However when I do this, it just gets overridden with the Alternating grey color. The cell in question in a normal colored row appears in red as expected, just not the alternating row.
How do i set the backcolor of the form to a rgb color via script, im making a theme tab, which changes the color, but i want the default color, and i have a custom color that is really close to it, but I dont know how to set to an rgb sadly. or i could use an alternitive by setting the background to the system color control, but I also dont know how to do that. This is what i have so far:
Private Sub NormalToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles NormalToolStripMenuItem.Click
How can i set the backcolor of my label to the same gradient color as my menustrip? I'm trying to put a checkbox on my menustrip but i want it to have the same backcolor as the menustrip.
The BackColor of the forms in Visual Studio are a light grey, called Control in the Properties panel. How would I set the BackColor property of a Label to this default color?
I was trying to create a custom button that changes the color of the backcolor & the forecolor upon mouse enter & leave the code in the designer as follows:
<Global.Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.DesignerGenerated()> _ Partial Class FocusedButton Inherits System.Windows.Forms.Button
[code]....
but when i press f5 i get the following error message:
Assembly 'D:my projectsFocusedButtonFocusedButtonobjDebugFocusedButton.dll' doesn't contain any UserControl types.
despite i have saved the project to that particular folder & when i try build it gives build succeeded?
I have a datagridview setup called TS_Input, where I setup a cellformatting handle event, like so:
Private Sub TS_Input_CellFormatting(ByVal sender As Object, _ ByVal e As DataGridViewCellFormattingEventArgs) _ Handles TS_Input.CellFormatting
[Code]....
The if statement above always evaluates to false. When I debug looking at the output, inheritedstyle.backcolor always returns the default empty color. I can't seem to figure this out! cell.style, cell.inheritedstyle, none of them seem to hold the correct backcolor.
I am coding an application for seats reservation and it contains two forms one of the forms contain 32 labels that represent the seat number and when the user wants to reserve that seat, he/she can double click that label to bring up the other form . The other form contains 2 text boxes (Name,Phone) and Date time picker, and I have remove and save. The remove button should change the backcolor of the label that was double clicked in the first form to white. The save button should change the backcolor of the label that was clicked in the first form to yellow. Yes I am using an array.
Is there a way to check specific pixels in a picturebox to check the color? Basically what I have is a black square with some white dots, and I want to find the position's in the picture of the white dots.
i'm trying to place a label with "backcolor = color.transparent" over a progressbar, but it seems that the progressbar becomes transparent too, how can i avoid this?
I want to make a check box change color when it is checked. In looking for answers it appears there used to be a fill color option in the properties, now in there is just back color and fore color. I am using VB 2008 Express.
I recently started wondering about how Microsoft would go about checking the text and checking its color, word order (spell check), etc. and I was trying to think of how they would do it if they were forced to write something, like Word or the text editor in Visual Studio, in Visual Basic.NET. Ways that I thought of could be using an array, setting a string to a word in that array, and check if that word is in the text. However, after I tried it, I realized I had to set the .SelectionStart property to zero, which got annoying if the document was long. Also, with arrays, though I could store the strings in a text file and read from that, I was limited to the number of items I could have, and I'm sure it would get frustrating if I added or subtracted a word (then having to back in the code and replace all of the instances of that array.)
Then I started thinking about streams. Though I have not tried them yet, I would imagine that if they had to be used, the problem of speed would come up again. But what if the stream only checked say 30 characters before and after the current selection start? Well, that would solve the speed problem, but it would bring up another. Every time the caret position changed, (if we were checking for color changing) we would be limited to those 60 characters. Say the word is "hello". What if "hello" began 31 characters behind the current SelectionStart? "h" would remain the same color, but "ello" would turn the default color (this is because we would have to reset the color everytime just in case the user changed a certain word.)
I am fairly new to vb.net and the form includes 3 picture boxes in red which you can click and change their color to green, also each picture box have three text box associated with it and they are by default color dark gray. I want the system to check whether the picture boxes are clicked and if yes set the associated text box colours to white.
Here is the code I wrote: Public Class Screen Inherits Windows.Forms.Form Dim T(1, 2) As TextBox Dim S(2) As PictureBox Dim x, i, j As Integer [Code] .....
I am having trouble with this piece of code. This is an event when a check box is clicked. It gives me an error "Object Reference Not Set To a Instance Of An Object"I am gathering that something here needs to be AS NEW something but I have tried a few things and can not get it straight.
If Me.ckbDefault.Checked = True Then Dim current_indexno As Integer current_indexno = Nothing[code]....
[code] I want to check checkbox and change color on one label and enter date on another. Then I want to uncheck the checkbox, restore the color on one label and clear the other..This works perfectly but only after the initial check. On the first check the correspsonding labels are handled properly but all the other labels are changed also, ie. the color changes on one set and the other set cleared.I can see the problem is in the Else If statements but can't understand why if the coding iswrong it works ok after the first check.
I have been playing around with the "MouseDown" event and have gotten stuck. What I need is for when you click on a label (for instance), the back color will change, BUT I also want it to change to another color (back to its original) when nothing is clicking it. I can change the color with one mouse click, but when I release the mouse button, it stays the color it changed and doesn't revert back.
I just want to check and see if this object is null. if i do not and it is my applications closes.I have also looked into a null reference exception. I will do whatever as long as it handles "null".[code]
I am passing various objects to a subroutine to run the same process but using a different object each time. For example, in one case I am using a ListView and in another case I am passing a DropDownList.
I want to check if the object being passed is a DropDownList then execute some code if it is. [code]...
I am trying to check whether an object is of a particular class type, or if it derives from a particular class type. I've tried to do this muliple ways. But have not had much success. I am using VB.NET.
Here is the code that am using:
If Me.Page.GetType() Is GetType(AALASWebsite.ContentPage) Then hlPrintPage.Visible = False End If
