I don't want that account to have permissions to that folder, and would love to use a proxy account if I could instead.

Simplest Method Of Saving User Input Data?
Jun 9, 2010So far i have a really basic form application that allows a user to enter some information and does a small calculation, displaying all of the information gathered on the final form.
Im looking to try to save this information but have no idea where to start,im trying to just take whatever is in my text field and put it in a table row. I created a one table database in Access and linked it to the form with a button to try and save it.
I thought it would be as simple as tablename.rowname = textbox.text or something but apparently not and all ive ended up with so far is this:

Getting Method For Loading CheckedListBoxes And Saving Checked Items To List?
Oct 26, 2011I gather case info from a DB table into a list(of T) list and display it in a checkedlistbox. When an item in the checkedlistbox is selected (highlighted, not checked), the selectedindexchanged event then retrieves account information from the DB for that case and loads the different accounts for that case in another checkedlistbox.
My issue is figuring out the best way to save the different items that are checked in the accounts checked list box. Since the accounts are loaded dynamically given the selected item in the cases listbox, what would be the best way to save which accounts are selected for each case?Below is my current method of loading the listboxes and selectedindexchanged procedure. I'm fairly new to programing and this is how I was taught load most controls, by list after saving to the list from the DB (which gets very complicated when you have to keep relations between items in separate lists).

Not A Valid Update Method In Datatableadaptor - Saving Access Database?
Jul 4, 2009I'm struggling to work with data in VB 2008, and find it extremely complicated! At first I couldn't even get a database to load, as VB 2008 kept complaining it was created with an older Jet engine.OK, I converted it to a newer Access format that VB 2008 finally accepted.
In trying to find out why changes weren't saved, I found a common problem was VB 2008 wiping out changes.OK I have told the compiler not to copy the older database file back over but to copy newer.Updates then supposedly happened --- no errors were reported --- but the changes were still not saved.It appears the update method didn't exist in the datatableadapter, but I got no error messages about that.
No update done.
I've used the tools to configure the dataset and datatableadapter.Automatic generation of methods like update, add new, delete, etc. were supposedly done.Now, when trapping the error, I'm told the update method isn't a valid one.I found little information on that. It suggested primary keys could be a cause, but adding or deleting a primary key has no effect.I can see the fill method, and it works fine.I can't see the update method. (Apparently it is in SQL which I don't know anyway.)

Apr 26, 2009Ok this is what I'm stuck on:I have 2 ListBoxes and 2 Lists, let's call them ListBox1, ListBox2, List1 and List2.List1 needs to be associated with ListBox 1, and List2 with ListBox2 I loop through a bunch of accounts, add them to LixBox1 at run-time.During that loop I add each account number to List1 so now the account number is associated with the ListBox index number which is right.Now when I double click one of the accounts in ListBox1 it is added to ListBox2 (but it still remains in ListBox1), and the same index of List1 added to List 2, now the account in ListBox2 is associated with the account number at the same index in List2 you see where I'm going with this?The issue wtarts here.When I double click an account (let's say the account at the first index) in ListBox2 it should be removed from the list, so now I remove the index from List2 since it's no longer needed, but now you know what's happened right? ListBox2's List indexes have all decremented by 1 because I just removed an item from the beginning of the list, but List2's indexes have stayed the same (at least that's how it appeared when I tested it).
So basically whats the best method for keeping things in reference? I was told about list boxes in another thread of mine, but is it really the best way to go about this, I can't seem to keep everything linked together reliably.

Database Book Sample Code Not Saving Changes To It
Apr 28, 2011I'm using the book titled "Database Programming with Visual Basic .NET and ADO.NET: Tips, Tutorials, and Code".
I'm going through the chapter that has me do data binding by setting the properties of a DataGrid and TextBoxes.
It had me drag a DataAdapter onto the form and had me generate a DataSet. This part works fine. It also had me set the binding through the Text propert of each TextBox. This also works fine as it displays the correct data as the user navigates through the DataGrid.
I think there may be something missing from the code samples in the book because saving the data back to the database is not working and even no errors are reported.[code]...

Method Not Intended For Code Attribute?
Feb 6, 2012I have a couple of shared methods in my app which are intended to be used with ObjectDataSource's (and other reflection based objects). They handle a lot of automatic parameter checking, filtering, etc. They are, however, all one time use methods (they rebuild everything on every call). It would be much better for someone writing code directly to call the instance methods so that all the filtering, etc, is stored between calls.Is there an attribute I can add to my methods to indicate this? The best would be if it would prevent the method from being called without reflection. Second best would be to issue a warning that the method is being used wrong.[code]
