Common Dialog File Multiselect + Explorer Not Showing Files Selected?
Jan 30, 2007
i have a vb script that is imbeded in an html page (hta). when i use the common dialog flags = cdlOFNAllowMultiselect the file list is present in the filename object and are separated by a space. however when i use dialog flags = cdlOFNAllowMultiselect Or cdlOFNExplorer the files that i selected on the dialog box, are not present in the filename object. the only thing that's there, is the path to the files. here's the code:
Const cdlOFNAllowMultiselect = 512Const cdlOFNExplorer = 524288Set ObjFSO = CreateObject("UserAccounts.CommonDialog")ObjFSO.Filter = "All Files|*.*"ObjFSO.FilterIndex = 1
ObjFSO.InitialDir = "c:" ObjFSO.Flags = cdlOFNAllowMultiselect or cdlOFNExplorerinitFSO = ObjFSO.ShowOpen selected_files = ObjFso.FileName msgbox selected_files
how can i get the files names?

In .NET there doesn't seem to be a property to find the item just selected in a multi-select listbox; SelectedIndex always shows the first selected item. From memory VB6 had the ListIndex property that changed accordingly... Why remove a useful property ?

I want to get the list of selected files in the currently opened windows explorer, So that when a user opens a windows explorer and selects a specific collection of file from the selected directory in the windows explorer and presses a short key of the feature then the feature itself will copy the list of full path that can be used in other module.

I am doing setup project in VS 2008. I used custom action to select file from local drives. On the button click of custom action form, I am launching Open file dialog as ofdGetNetPath.ShowDialog When I run the setup on Vista, and click the button to open the openFileDialog, it hanged, form becomes non responsive and I have to cancel the setup.
on debugging I got following error "Current thread must be set to single thread apartment (STA) mode before OLE calls can be made. Ensure that your main function has STAThreadAttribute marked in it. This exception is only raised if a debugger is attached to the process."
so I used the following code:
Dim ofdThread As Thread ofdThread = New Thread(New ThreadStart(AddressOf ShowOpenFileDialog)) ofdThread.SetApartmentState(ApartmentState.STA) ofdThread.Start() Private Sub ShowOpenFileDialog() Me.ofdGetNetPath.ShowDialog() End Sub
now on button click, OpenFileDialog is shown but it is not showing Mapped drive or Network location... what should I need to do to show the mapped drive or network locations?

I'm looking for a way to get the name of the file that's currently selected in a Windows Explorer window, desktop included, without having to use a FileDialog or to copy the path to the clipboard (GetFileDropList). I've been looking into the System.IO.Path.GetFileName() an many more methods like that, but I haven't found anything that does the trick.

I am looking for a way to modify the default values in windows vista and or 7.
Examples:
* The default directory for the save/save-as dialog box.
* The size of the window.
* The "favorites" list on the left of the box.
I have been looking for a while and the only thing I can find is to edit the group policy but this will only affect programs that are using the xp dialog box.I am sure this is actualy pretty easy but I cannot find anything for the life of me

Whenever the code invokes the open dialogue box statement of the VB6.0 code, the application gets terminated. It is expected to open the dialogue box to provide the file path. I'm also having MS Office 2007 enterprise edition. If I do not have MS office 2007 enterprise edition installed, then it is working fine without any problem. So any suggestion/remarks to work on MS office 2007 enterprise edition?

I'm sure most people on here have opened an OpenFileDialog or SaveFileDialog and set the SelectedPath property to point to some directory...
Has anyone done this on a Windows 7 machine and been able to point the thing to a Library? If so, what do you set it to?

The application I'm developing does some file management chores, such as renaming and deletion of files. I have noticed that often after a file is deleted via code, it is still shown in Windows Explorer although it doesn't exist anymore. A refresh (F5) solves this, however I wouldn't want end users to have to press F5 every couple of minutes when using the application.
Can a refresh of all open Windows Explorer windows be requested via code? Moreover, can the refresh be requested only for windows displaying a particular location? I've thought of getting all open windows, filtering them and then sending the F5 keystroke, however it sounds a bit like overkill. Any easier way to do it?

A form I created, was able to modify and shows when the program is run has suddenly changed in the solution explorer. Now when the form "MainMenu.vb" is highlighted in the solution explorer the icon for "view designer" vanishes from the toolbar. The "view code" shows "MainMenu.vb" but there is not any code there and only an empty "General" and "Declarations" show. The icon to the left of the "MainMenu.vb" is like a module icon not a form icon.

I have a vb.net project that has 2 exe's that get built as well as the installer. The two exe's share a bunch of common files. I do not want to have two copies of the common files or mess around with having build events that copy things around (if possible). My method was to create two projects in the same folder and have them point to the files they needed. This appeared to work until I tried to compile both apps at which point I get an error in a file called Application.Designer.vb. It seems that project files create this file in their folder and when I have two solutions in the same folder they conflict.

I want to make a program that is similar to Windows Explorer. It will have a button that when you click it it opens a FolderBrowserDialog and it will have an area that displays the contents of the selected folder. I want to have a label that displays the current folder path (i.e. 'USERDocuments...') and I also would like a feature to search all files on the computer. Also, is it possible that when I click on a file in the contents of the selected folder it displays its information (i.e. Name, Size, etc.)? And can I also make it so that if you double click on another folder in the current folder's display it opens that folder? And can I have a button to go up one directory?
