Generally i use ms access or sql server for my desktop application. Which data base should i use with my vb application on android phone or tablet?
I am new for dotnet. i need to implement one concept that is i am developing one desktop application that is act as server and create one website. so client give a request from website to my desktop application. the server get the request and perform some task and then response to client. how to implement this concept. whether i use Http Listener or any other concept available in dotnet. url...
Since I am answering 2 threads about communication between 2 applications and that I talk about memoryMapFile in these posts I am posting this for those that can be interested Even if the MemoryMapFile exist since a long time in the native code world, it is new with the framwork4 in managed code.I would start by saying that if you look at the examples showed in the documentation, the control is done using Mutex ... It is what you DON'T want to do The right way is to use window message to automate The example here is: 2 applications, one with 2 buttons and a label.
Button1 ask the second application to start Notepad and Button2 ask the second application to stop it When the second application has executed the command asked by the first application, it send back a string that the first application show in the label The buttons are only enabled when both application have show that they are ready for the communication
APPLICATION A Imports System.IO Imports System.IO.MemoryMappedFiles Public Class Form1
How would I make a Visual Basic application talk to a web server? Someone will press something on the site and I want the application to display the information that the web site passes along to it.
I am starting a new project in VB, a card game modelled to be similar to a real card game.
I have the majority of the program planned out and have even started coding parts of it; my problem comes with the networking. This is a real-time card game (not turn-based) and I want to be able to play with real people (family mostly, so over LAN is what I'm after).
I have tried searching for code samples but I everything I have found seems more complicated than I feel is required for the task, introducing a lot of new concepts and not explaining them.
What I'm after is a simple way to exchange the information in real-time, I don't care so much for efficiency (at the moment) just ease of use - though if I need to wade through a heap of documentation I will. A perfect answer would tell me what the names of some of the controls/methods that would be appropriate are, even if it just re-affirms a bit of the complexity, you do not have to detail anything if you don't want to I just feel a bit at loss as to what exactly it is I am looking for!
Ok i know theres a program called eclipse for which you can download android plugins that let you develop application for the Android MObile Phones using the Android SDK.Is there any similar interface/plugins or anyway what so ever, that will allow you to develop apps for the android using say vb.Net 2008??
I'm going to migrate my Android application into WP7 platform. Android one contains heavy enough calculation stuff (encryption/decryption), plus extensive usage of DB (SQLite) and some graphics (simple) and I'm trying to figure which language to select: either C# or VB. I have some experience both in C# and VB.net, but can't decide which one to select.
I've set up this function in my web app to send push notifications to Android devices:
Private Function SendNotification(ByVal authstring As String) As String Dim request As WebRequest = WebRequest.Create("https://android.apis.google.com/c2dm/send") request.Method = "POST"
[code]....
However, whenever I call this function, I get the following error message: The remote certificate is invalid according to the validation procedure."
I am having VB.net dll files which I need to use in Android and iPhone application. Creating web service doesn't satisfy my requirement as I need to use this in offline mode.
how can I use this in Android or iPhone application development.
Service1.svc Public Class Service1 Implements IService1
[code]....
For some unkown reason, I can run the VS 2010 client test and it the WCF host works fine. The code above just returns nothing (it's supposed to return a string)
I use these code to encrypt any plain text in vb2008.I want decrypt and use generated file in my app in android.I know that put files in assets folder and i use it.this code use Cryptography to encryption.how i can decrypt generated files in my android app.and how i use them in my android app.
Imports System.Security.Cryptography Public NotInheritable Class Simple3Des Private TripleDes As New TripleDESCryptoServiceProvider
We are using a .net wizard control for a mobile website. Everything works great except on android devices when the user exits the browser to take a call or send a text message. When the user returns to out web page the android browser is refreshing the web page. Our problem is when the web page refresh the wizard is losing the view state So if they are in the middle of the wizard there previous work is lost. how to combat this. Is there a way to persist the wizard even if the user refreshes the webpage? I basically want to make my asp.net wizard control truly stateless.
We are developing an Android Application (Java) that reads an image, encode the bytes in base64 to send them over HTTP (via GET) to a WebService written in VB.NET.On .NET side, they are using this :
Dim Pix As Image Pix = Image.FromFile("C:UsersPublicPicturesSample PicturesTree.jpg") Dim ms As New MemoryStream[code]....
How can I pass the correct string to them to correctly decode the image from Java encoding (unsigned) to .NET decoding (signed)?
I have an ArrayList in android that I'm trying to convert to a Base64 String, then passing that to a wcf service though JSON and the wcf service inserts the string into a database. Then I need to be able to read that from the database and deserialize it in a .NET application.
This is how I am serializing the ArrayList in android:
The ultimate goal is to be able to be able to create a list of these shapes in the .NET app or android app and be able to read the list in the .NET app and android app no matter where it was created from. I'm able to it when you create the Shape from .NET and read it into android using WCF but creating it in android.
I want to create a food order system at the restaurant using the android and VB. so the waiter will use Android to transmit data to the cashier who use VB.Is it possible to connect Android to VB?
i'm using the following algorithm to encrypt and decrypt a string in VB.NET and wanted to do that same method in Android also.
Encryption:
Private Function decryptStr(ByVal key As String, ByVal enc As String) As String Try DES.Key = Hash.ComputeHash(System.Text.ASCIIEncoding.ASCII.GetBytes(key))
Is there a Java equivalent - specifically on Android - for VB.NET's Static keyword? For those not familiar with VB.NET, take the following code snippet...
Sub MyFunc() Static myvar As Integer = 0 myvar += 1
I'm writing it again, i'm developing an app in which user click a picture through image and image will be stored in sdcard then I have choose the picture from image view and send that picture to the server. I have convert my image into the byte array and then encoded it in Base64 string format but when i try to send that image to the server it give me an error of soap fault. Here's the my code of android device:
public void doneImage(){ ByteArrayOutputStream out = new ByteArrayOutputStream(); bitmap.compress(CompressFormat.JPEG, 100, out);
i have a win form, where i have a block of code which keeps checking for entry in database, every say 2mins, now i want to avoid using timer control, for performance reason, can the same be achieved using background worker.
The situation is this. I have an application written in vb.net. it consists or two parts. One on a PC and the other on a handheld windows mobile 6 device . The desktop program transfers a SQLServer compact database to and from the handheld device using activesync via USB. Potentially we want to look into having android handheld devices also supported by this application. Now I know I can use SQLite with .net. I know I can use ADB to push and pull data (and therefore the database files) to and from the device.
What I need to know is can I access ADB directly from VB.NET as an API or SDK rather than having to do it manually.
Unless of course I'm missing something and I can copy databases to and from the device in some other way?
I have used .NET and ShDocVw for years to grab data off webpages without any issues I couldn't overcome. This website has me beat though. It seems like such as easy task to grab the titles and other information off a library search page, but I can't see the data to be able to grab it. Usually, I just look in the DOM, but the data wasn't there. I did a view source, but the data wasn't there.
I have searched everywhere to find an answer for this question: I have a TCP client on my android application that sends an message to the server which is written in Visual Basic .NET Framework 4. Now i want to send an message from my server to the phone over 3g, it works on wifi and 3g..
