Therefore, lets assume you have a folder name A.zip within this folder you have B.zip. Presently, it unzips folder A and leaves folder B zipped. I would like to unzip both A and B folder..
Code:Private Sub unzip(ByVal filename As String, ByVal targetdir As String, ByVal overwrite As Boolean, Optional ByVal password As String = "")
Dim inputStrm As New ZipInputStream(File.OpenRead(filename))

View 5 RepliesWhen I right click a file folder, I get an option called Explore on my pop-up menu. It lets me do this for zipped records also. I want to be able to do this programmatically in my Visual Basic program. How do I explore a file folder and expose its contents in a Listbox. How can I do this for a zipped file? If a folder is zipped and contains a list of files in it, can I go into the file and delete the file without having to unzip the folder. Today, I was able to cut files out of a zipped file and paste the individual files somewhere else. Can I do this programmatically?

I use this code :
Dim name As String = Path.GetFileName(filePath).Replace(".Bak", "")
Dim source() As Byte = System.IO.File.ReadAllBytes(filePath)
Dim compressed() As Byte = ConvertToByteArray(source)
System.IO.File.WriteAllBytes(destination & name & ".Bak" & ".zip", compressed)
Or using this code :

I like to compress the xmldata before the data is provided to the client as an excel file. I am trying to compress and deliver it as a .zip file. its not working Here's my code below. I tried compressing it, converting it to bytes etc etc. The issue with below code is, the XSL transformation is not happening properly and the output excel file is raw xml with some .net exception at the end. (that's what I see on the .xls file that's downloaded at the end) Before I started working on compression my below code was working fine that gives properly formatted excel file from the xml input. the excel file is so nice you can't even tell it was from XML.

View 4 RepliesHow can i encrypt or decrypt only a part of a file? I try, and i keep getting an error message that says that the stream might be corrupt. By the way, it is ok to convert the text to a byte array using the system.text.encoding.ascii.getbytes() right? The reason i want to encrypt/compress only a part of a file is because i don't want to encrypt or compress the file header. That way the program can gather info about whether the file is compressed or encrypted.
View 1 RepliesI have a program I made in vb.net express 2008 that used java.utils.zip to compress my work files to a Zip archive that I ran occassionaly to have a backup. I worked fine, but with net framework 4 and vb.net 2010 it doesn't work. So I modified it to use sharpziplib and it works fine if all files on the filter list in the folder are closed, but if I have a file open in OpenOffice writer, my program can't access it and won't create the zip file. The file that usually stays open all the time is my TODO list, that is updated several times a day , so usually gets printed, and updated( adding or deleting entries), without closing it.

I'd like to use WinRAR's dll file to compress files in vb.net.Is there any way this can be done? The only one I found was using the unrar.dll to uncompress files. Also, I'd like to know how to implement WinZIP's dlls to compress files as the zipfldr.dll does not achieve very high levels of compression and encryption.
View 4 RepliesWhile navigating to a series of sites at one site the WebBrowser control's DocumentCompleted EVENT is tripped and no other recorded Browser events occur after that. When this happens the hour glass cursor indicates the browser is waiting. From this point it take 120 to 250 seconds of wall clock time before the browser resumes. I am looking for a way to force an abnormal termination without destroying the control. I have tried "Stop", "nav to about:blank" repeatedly without success. How can I force an abnormal termination when the Cntrl is in a wait state?
Consider the following: The last known Browser event to be tripped is a Document Complete event; nothing else occurs after this. When this transpires the Cntrl is waiting.

i want to use this call to the shell32.dll. But i dont know how to translate this to vb.net.
[DllImport("shell32.dll", EntryPoint = "#262", CallingConvention = CallingConvention.StdCall, CharSet = CharSet.Unicode, PreserveSig = false)]static extern void SetUserTile(string username, int whatever, string picpath);
I want to use Shell32 as a reference but, not that it's place as Interop.Shell32.dll in my folder. So, I want my application to use "C:WindowsSystem32Shell32.dll"
I need it for an unzipper.
I have been trying to use Shell32.dll to zip files, I have also attempted to create empty zip folders dynamically and have had no success, I was able to create an empty zip folder but when I try to use the zip folder I receive an error message and the zip folder created remains empty. Error: QuoteWindows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder. [Code] If I use the empty zip without creating a new one this is the error message: QuoteFile not found or no read permission. The empty zip it creates is 100% valid with Windows Explorer.
View 9 RepliesI've got ASP.NET intranet application written in VB. It gets a file from the user, and then depending on a few different cases it may create a few copies of the file as well as move the original.
Unfortunately I've come across a case where I get this error:
Exception Details: System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file
'\somedirD09_03_5_180_0.000-6.788.png' because it is being used by another process.
Which is thrown by My.Computer.FileSystem.CopyFile. And that's fine that it's being used by another process - it may still be saving/downloading from the user or trying to copy while another thread(?) is copying, I don't really care about that, what I want to know:
Is there any way that I can tell VB to wait to copy (also move) the file until the file is no longer in use?
Code is below. I am designing this code to transfer a file at a specified time. Right now, I have it sending me an email when it succeeds for test purposes. It will be only when the file copy fails later.
Here's my question: how can I get the program to wait until the file copy is complete to report success or failure? Right now I'm using exists to see if it works, but some other method of checking the file will be built in later. Eventually, this will be deployed to various locations for a bit of automated backup.
