Streaming Video To Application With Some Analysis
Jul 10, 2009I'm using VB 2005, and am hoping to have streaming video to my application with some sort of video analysis. Right now as a test, I have an axWindowsMediaPlayer control playing a video from a URL. I'm figuring I need to be able to detect the colors of the pixels in the video for simple analysis, but I haven't been able to do this yet. I've been able to view the pixel colors in every area of the screen except for the media player window (just shows up black, as if you were to make a screenshot of the media player video). Is this at all possible to do?

Sep 30, 2011We have a VB.Net application which works fine in our tests in different Windows XP SP3 machines. However there is one machine in which is displaying this error:
Unable to connect to any of the specified MySQL hosts
Using the mysql command, we can successfully connect to the database. We already checked for any other application or firewall that could be blocking the connection but it seems fine. We also reinstalled the system (no errors during the installation) but the MySQL error message doesn't change.
The system settings are exactly the same as in the other computers. We are using "localhost" as server in the connection string. The "hosts" file has its default values (nothing strange in there).

Asp.net - Use A Dictionary-like Collection As An Application Settings Object?
Jun 8, 2009I'd like to store a set of key/value pairs in the application settings of my ASP.NET web app, but I'm not finding a straightforward way to do that. For example, these two questions tell me that StringDictionary etc. won't serialize to XML and suggest that I'll have to roll my own implementation. But it seems like this should be easier to do; after all, web.config is XML and < applicationSettings> is essentially a collection of key/value pairs, so it feels like I'm missing something obvious. Given my specific case below, do I really have to roll my own serialization, or is there an easier workaround?
The web app in question is a basic contact form that sends email to different recipients based on the value of a parameter; e.g. [URL]...The goal is to be able add or remove recipients (or change their addresses) by editing the web.config file so that I don't have to recompile and can easily maintain different configurations in test and production environments. For example:

My question is there a BUILT IN way of doing it. The Class has a Enumeration Property. For the purposes of demonstration, I'll call it MasterCategory.I have been trying to get out an object that looks like the following:
groupedCountDictionary As Dictionary(of MasterCategory, Dictionary(of Date, Integer)
The best result I could get was:
Lookup(of MasterCategory, Dictionary(of Date, Integer))
From:
countDictionary.ToLookup(Function(o) o.Key.MasterCategory, Function(o) o.Value)
Which results in a IEnumerable (Of Dictionary(of Date, Integer)) for each MasterCategory value.However, I need that IEnumerable of Dictionary flattened to one dictionary with all the integers summed (total counts) for each date. I then tried to use various selects and group bys (from numerous stackoverflow posts) to "flatten" it, but my efforts have fallen short.

Jan 23, 2012I want to add the contents of a comma delimited text file(PracInfo.txt) into a Dictionary on Form_Load. The contents of the file are as follows:

Are there .txt dictionaries out there with this information? I've checked a few places like WordNet but I didn't see a dictionary that also includes sentence info. My other concern is using custom classes. I don't have a lot of experience creating classes, and I really want to become more familiar with them, so it is important that I integrate them into this project. What would be a logical way using classes in this project? Maybe a 'word' class?

I am currently trying to pass MyDictionary into a function, filter it into a new instance of MyDictionary and pass this new instance into another method. When I am attempting to create the second instance from the filtered first instance of MyDictionary via Lambda Expressions and the ToDictionary Method, I am getting the following error:

What I have at the moment is this:My understanding is that I need to perform a Fourier analysis - a Fast Fourier Transform ? - to extract the component frequencies and their amplitudes.
Can someone confirm my understanding is correct and exactly what type of Fourier transform I need to apply?
At the moment, I'm getting frames containing 4k samples from the mic (using NAudio). The buffer I've got is 16bits/sample (Signed Short). For reference, the above plot shows approx half a frame I'm coding in VB so any .Net libraries/examples (preferably on NuGet) would be of most use. I believe implementations vary considerably so the less I have to massage my data, the better.

The web server is a separate machine from the web server.The web server runs as the IUSR_ user.The application (of course) works on the development machine which has both IIS and Analysis services on it.The problem I see appears to be a permissions error (returned in the browser by the asp.net app):An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host ....

I have tried creating and adding the user (IUSR_) to the sql server and added that user to the role. While that worked on my local machine, it did not work in our production environment where the sql and web servers are separate.
