Error Connecting To Analysis Servives From Asp.net App On Another Machine?
May 8, 2009
I have been tasked with getting a asp.net (vb.net) talking to an analysis services engine on our production servers. The web server is a separate machine from the web server. The web server runs as the IUSR_ user. The application (of course) works on the development machine which has both IIS and Analysis services on it.The problem I see appears to be a permissions error (returned in the browser by the asp.net app):An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host ....
it is described in a similar post here: http:[url]......I am not a system admin, nor am I an expert in analysis services (why have I been tasked with this you ask? because other people haven't been able to get it working and it has fallen on me). I have tried creating and adding the user (IUSR_) to the sql server and added that user to the role. While that worked on my local machine, it did not work in our production environment where the sql and web servers are separate.
I have a MySQL database I've created for my website, [URL]. I want to query the database, but I am unsure how to connect.
This is the code I'm using:
Code: Dim sConnection As String = "Provider=MySQLProv;Data Source=my_database;User Id=my_user;Password=my_pass;" Dim bSuccess As Boolean = True
[CODE]............
The MsgBox() returns a message that says: "Error: The 'MySQLProv' provider is not registered on this local machine". All I want to do is access the table in my database, is it possible? (also, without installing anything additionally?)
Does the .NET framework include ways to access MySQL databases easily?
I need to have a 32 bit oracle client installed my test PC which is acctually a 64 bit machine.when i try connecting to oracle in my window application in vb.net ,it does not open the connection.
I am very new to NTLM/LDAP and trying to authenticate using NTML running on a local machine. The code provided by Microsoft [URL] seems to work, I just do not know how to connect to it.
I know that the authentication service is running because Contos 8 has been set up to authenticate using NTLM and it is working. I just do not know what the "connection string" should be:
I am trying: LDAP://CN=machinename with no luck.
Dim adAuth As LdapAuthentication = New LdapAuthentication("LDAP://CN=LOCALMACHINENAME") Dim entry As DirectoryEntry = New DirectoryEntry(_path, domainAndUsername, pwd)
I imported a website made in visual studio express 2008 to visual studio express 2010. When I run the home page I get the following error:"It is an error to use a section registered asallowDefinition='MachineToApplication' beyond application level. This error can be caused by a virtual directory not being configured as an application in IIS."
i am building my first VB.net application with a connection to an Access database. Now, this works fine when I debug, however when I deploy the application I get the error saying "Could not find file", which I assume means i have got one of the publishing settings wrong? I don't think it is a code error because it works when I debug, but if anyone wants to see part of it please let me know.
'm creating with Visual Studio 2005 Windows application using a simple MDI as the main. This application must connect to a database, calling store procedures.I have an error in the connection.
Main MDI : Dim da As New SqlClient.SqlDataAdapter Dim ds As DataSet = New DataSet
Yesterday i was developing an application at home, i copied that application along with the db(sql server db) and brought it to office to continue it.
But when it tried connecting to the db, i got this error
Quote:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network interfaces, error 26 - Error Locating server/Instance Specified)
I am trying to learn sql server. The error is talking something about Remote Connections, but my db is local, it lies on the desktop.
I'm new to visual basic 5 and here. I'm attempting to make a slot machine type of game. So far this is the code that i am using (below), the problem i am having is that nothing is showing up in the labels. And the try again message in a message box just keeps appearing when i start to debug [code]...
I am currently creating a vending machine program, designed to simulate a vending machine. However I have come across a rather large error, my stock is 50 at the begging. The person can go though the program and the appropiate amount of stock is taken away from the relavent object, however when I finish and want to go back to the start the last selection is still present. Therefore I have tried setting the variable as 0 when the form opens and when the program starts, but the last selection is still present.Does anyone know of a way to which I can reset this calculation without affecting my stock so I can then repeat my program cycle one or two times each time using the previous stock without reseting back to 50
I am getting the following error on a users machine who is running XP method not found 'system.string system.windows.forms.openfiledialog.get_safefilename Do I need netframework 3.5 ?

good mornign here again =D having a problem with connecting to a remote database via adhoc we are using a windows 7 ultimate 32bit OS platform =D
here is the connection message im encountering
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)
i have already enable the the Remote Connection enabling the both TCP/IP and name Pipes and its server authentication of our both msSQL server 2005 is SQL SERVER AND WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION MODE
and also i put a check in Allow Remote Connections to this Server...both our laptops...
but still encountering the problem... the default gateway of our adhoc is 192.168.137.1
sample code how i connect to the database
Imports System Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.SqlClient
I've installed a vb.net windows service on a Windows 2008 machine, that is attempting to connect to SQL 2005. The service starts succesfully, but can't see the database. The event log has the following entry. The description for Event ID 0 from source SU4.ESMR.DAL.Job.FillPriorityJobByType(oJobDS, TypeID: 3 cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.
When I try to connect to an access database I get this error: "The Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine."It comes up when I try to debug, da.Fill(ds) becomes highlighted and an arrow with that error comes up.I dont understand how its not registered on the machine, when I check the connection to my access database in the visual environment it says its successfully.
sqlQuery = "SELECT " & sqlColor & " FROM Pictonary WHERE ID=" & j.ToString Using cn As New OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=C:UsersChrisDesktopRandom Color For PictonaryRandom Color For
I'm new to Visual Basic. I'm currently working on my school project which is basically just managing records. I'm using MySql as my DB and mysql-connector 5.2.5 as my connector string. and I have this code (connects to db and adds some data in the db using textboxes)[code] problem is every time I click that button (button3) I get the Exception message.what seems to be the problem with my code? I have tried this code in my login form and it works fine there but in here, in this current form it doesn't work.
I have created an application using VB.NET in VS2008. When I run the app in the IDE on my development machine it works fine. It also works fine when I build it and run it as an exe on any machine that also has Visual Studio installed (at least 2005 and 2008 anyway) However, when I try to run the compiled executable on any machine without Visual Studio it throws up an error "[program name] has encountered a problem and will close..."
I have made an application using VB.NET which is used inhouse. In order to avoid everytime changing of exe on user's (multiple user) machine I want to use shortcut of exe on user's machine.
Where EXE is placed in one central location(Server).
I am getting bellow error on user's machine :
Request for the permission of type 'System.Data.Odbc.OdbcPermission, System.Data, Version=2.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' failed.

I have developed a 32-bit VB.NET application that runs fine on 32-bit systems. Some of the folks in engineering, however, are using 64-bit machines, so we have created 32-bit virtual PCs and installed the application on the Virtual PC. When we try to run it, however, the application fails to establish a connection to the SQL server (remote, SQL 2000) for login validation.
We have an application (Vb6) that gets installed at all of our client sites and they often (Vista/Windows 7) run into a the error message Unexpected error, quiting after a install on a new machine. The problem comes about when the UAC is on and the application is trying to create registry entries in areas it doesnt have access to because the application is running as a standard user. If the user runs the application as an admin the first time, everything sets up and life if good.
My question is, what is the most elegant way to setup those registry keys without forcing the user to run as an admin the first time? We could force them to run the applicaiton as an admin using a manifest file, but I dont want them to have to run as an admin every time, just the first time.
I am connecting to Citrix database using SQL-defined ODBC. Having a problem with it. I am updating an existing application that uses the ODBC in SQL, and it connects fine. However, that database connection is secured, only available on the production side. The test side has a remote connection. I am attempting to change the remote connection values to match the parameters of the SQL-based ODBC, but the labels are different, and it doesn't seem to match. Specifically, I don't think I'm getting the DataSource correct. Also, it can't find the username and password that I use to log into the remoter connection - I get an error message "Invalid authorization specification".
2. I developed a form that had a combo box and Data grid view control The combo box is fed (linked) to a Access database list. The data grid view control is fed (linked) to multiple Access Databases. When I choose a name in the combo box, it loads a new database into the datagricview control. It works great. No errors. Note that all the databases are in my project file.Could not find file 'C:Program FilesMicrosoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7IDEBALSAMFIR.accdbI don't understand why it works in the form but not in the user control and why it thinks it needs to find the file in Common7/IDE/.
I have an old app, a VB5 front end with access 97 databases all works Ok using the ...program files... folders in XP but I now have a user on Vista and we have problems opening up, and I am braced for problems saving and closing down, if we ever get there.
I sent him a c# applet which found the users folder using string Dpath = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.LocalApplicationData);
I have moved the data and all settings files to a folder C:Users[Username]AppDataLocal[My app Name][My app data Path]
The start up routine checks a settings file uses the path in the settings to re-attach the front end database to a backend database, test to see if the database uses replication and set the default data path for the rest of the app. we are failing somewhere in here I am sure. I have checked and there are no updateable files in program files
Have I got the wrong path or is there something else I should be looking for?
I have an vs2008 version of the app which is using a similar location but a SQL server database- no problems
My VB 6.0 application is using the remote server ( windows 2003 ) to connect database. for that i have used UNC path to connect . i am successfully login and able to access application. but i am getting the following error when i am trying to populate/tab feilds with data on tha application:
"Runtime error 70 access denied"
the same thing is working fine on windows XP machines but not working on windows 7 machine.
i've developed a VB Net Application, that works with an access (2003) db. Now i've send it to a friend on mine with a new pc 64bit with win 7, and it doesn't works, more or less the error is: Quote:
Dim Cmd As OleDbCommand Dim SQL As String Dim objCmd As New OleDbCommand Dim Con = New OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;""Data Source= C:\Users\STRIDEO1\Desktop\HIS1.accdb;User ID=Admin;Password=;")
