I have made the slot machine. It all works good except, I have encounted one problem though. When you get two of the same images or all three, you don't win anything.i have tried some code. View 5 RepliesI am coding myself a Visual Basic.Net 2005 Slot Machine program. I've been hard at work on this for about a week and half now. From what I have with it it works and all. However there are so many annoying errors with the program.
LIST: - I am not winning when I should be. My winning conditions is set when you get 3 of the same picture you are to be awarded with some credits. It works but sometimes when it does land on 3 of the same pictures it still says that I've lost. This is the main problem and I am about to pull my hair out about this - The image with the lowest value is showing up the least and the picture with the most value is showing up more frequent? I don't want to change them around to fix that.

I'm trying to make a simple fruit machine game for windows mobile device.
I can create the game easily enough and flip through pictures in a picture box to display the correct symbol.. but what I'd like to do is do a proper spinning reel, but have no idea where to even start.
What I have is a list of images in an imagelist (or individual files) - what I'd like is them attached to each other and moving downwards, preferably as though it were going around a drum but just them moving would be a start.

View 21 RepliesI am currently creating a vending machine program, designed to simulate a vending machine. However I have come across a rather large error, my stock is 50 at the begging. The person can go though the program and the appropiate amount of stock is taken away from the relavent object, however when I finish and want to go back to the start the last selection is still present.Therefore I have tried setting the variable as 0 when the form opens and when the program starts, but the last selection is still present.Does anyone know of a way to which I can reset this calculation without affecting my stock so I can then repeat my program cycle one or two times each time using the previous stock without reseting back to 50

I have created an application using VB.NET in VS2008. When I run the app in the IDE on my development machine it works fine. It also works fine when I build it and run it as an exe on any machine that also has Visual Studio installed (at least 2005 and 2008 anyway) However, when I try to run the compiled executable on any machine without Visual Studio it throws up an error "[program name] has encountered a problem and will close..."

I have tried creating and adding the user (IUSR_) to the sql server and added that user to the role. While that worked on my local machine, it did not work in our production environment where the sql and web servers are separate.

Some of the folks in engineering, however, are using 64-bit machines, so we have created 32-bit virtual PCs and installed the application on the Virtual PC. View 11 RepliesWe have an application (Vb6) that gets installed at all of our client sites and they often (Vista/Windows 7) run into a the error message Unexpected error, quiting after a install on a new machine. The problem comes about when the UAC is on and the application is trying to create registry entries in areas it doesnt have access to because the application is running as a standard user. If the user runs the application as an admin the first time, everything sets up and life if good.
My question is, what is the most elegant way to setup those registry keys without forcing the user to run as an admin the first time? We could force them to run the applicaiton as an admin using a manifest file, but I dont want them to have to run as an
admin every time, just the first time.
I have an old app, a VB5 front end with access 97 databases all works Ok using the ...program files... folders in XP but I now have a user on Vista and we have problems opening up, and I am braced for problems saving and closing down, if we ever get there.
I sent him a c# applet which found the users folder using string Dpath = Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.LocalApplicationData);
I have moved the data and all settings files to a folder C:Users[Username]AppDataLocal[My app Name][My app data Path]
The start up routine checks a settings file uses the path in the settings to re-attach the front end database to a backend database, test to see if the database uses replication and set the default data path for the rest of the app. we are failing somewhere in here I am sure. I have checked and there are no updateable files in program files
Have I got the wrong path or is there something else I should be looking for?
I have an vs2008 version of the app which is using a similar location but a SQL server database- no problems
My VB 6.0 application is using the remote server ( windows 2003 ) to connect database. for that i have used UNC path to connect . i am successfully login and able to access application. but i am getting the following error when i am trying to populate/tab feilds with data on tha application:
"Runtime error 70 access denied"
the same thing is working fine on windows XP machines but not working on windows 7 machine.

I have an xml file I parse to get a path to some other xml files that I then want to parse and read values from. I am fine to get the path from the first xml document and fine to parse the subsequent documents.Where I am struggling is implementing the path. It is being stored using system level variables like:
%appdata%my_appconfig
When I try open the file like this:
xmlConfig.Load(userConfigFile)
It tries to start in the application working directory - assume c:emp So the error message I get is:
Could not find a part of the path 'C:emp\%appdata%my_appconfighive.machine.xml'.
Is there a way I can use this pathing structure in my VB code or determine the actual fully qualified path programatically?
