We have windows xp with sp3. The MDAC version on my machine is 2.81.1132.0. We notice that with this version of MDAC we are not able to connect to Microsoft ODBC driver for oracle. For MS ODBC to work we should have xp with sp2 or MDAC version 2.82.3959.0.
Is there any way to connect to MS ODBC using sp2 or version 2.81.1132.0 in XP?

If I change the code to use a datareader it I can loop through the data but a data reader is not recommended to pass through the layers and so I'm wanting to create a dataset/data table process. Anyone have any ideas why the dataset/dataTable code is not working properly?

I have a small vb.net application that fires a crystal report through crystal viewer.
The report uses an ODBC connection provided by 32-bit software accounts package, which is installed in the ODBC 32-bit This all works fine on 32-bit XP and 32-bit Win7 with no problems, When run on a win7 64-bit machine the application launches ok, but when it comes to running the report, it prompts for a database logon box for the odbc connection.
When the report is run seperate on its own, on the exact same pc through crystal reports desginer it runs fine, Its almost like the application is not picking the 32-bit ODBC set up is it the case that the connection needs to be coded rather than using the report connection,
I want to create ODBC DSN for a database (which will be included in my application folder whenever a user setups the application). I want to know how to create ODBC with all the required parameters so that the first thing that is done when the setup is being run is connecting the database to the application. View 2 RepliesI am connecting to Citrix database using SQL-defined ODBC. Having a problem with it. I am updating an existing application that uses the ODBC in SQL, and it connects fine. However, that database connection is secured, only available on the production side. The test side has a remote connection. I am attempting to change the remote connection values to match the parameters of the SQL-based ODBC, but the labels are different, and it doesn't seem to match. Specifically, I don't think I'm getting the DataSource correct. Also, it can't find the username and password that I use to log into the remoter connection - I get an error message "Invalid authorization specification".

I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.

I am using VB code behind in Visual Studio 2008 to process data but can't figure out SQLConnection problems. I copied and pasted the connectionstring for my database from the explorer properties window but when I paste it inside the parenthesis of SqlConnection() it gives me an error. Also if I name a variable " dim myconnect As New SqlConnection" in does not give me all of the methods or attributes that are associated with it. I am trying to connect to a database in VB 2008 express the book I am using is for an older model of VB. The book says to go to view and click on server explorer, and then a database wizard should open. VB 2008 express doesn't have a server explorer under the view section. I know what code I need to enter into to the two buttons I have I just do not know how to open the wizard.
