I'm writing. i'm using 3 NumericUpDown controls to get an output and convert it to a Date. i don't know if i am doing this right, and i've been working on this overnight. i'll put the codes that i've written[code]...
i'm trying to get the interval days between the two Dates (the Date today, and my birthday). the bolded texts are the ones that i want to know if i'm doing the right thing. because when i run the program, the error says "Format Exception was unhandled: String was not recognized as a valid DateTime".
Just like the notepad, it will not allow you to paste any picture in it, and it will convert all formatted text to plain text. It will not change the content of the clipboard, it just like a filter... Is there any way to do it in VB.NET?My program screenshot:

The problem is if I write the msgbox without .toString I get an error "cannot convert to prompt" so I'm obliged to put .toString Why am I getting this kind of error even if I have the DisplayMember binded and how can I fix it ?
I'm creating an emulator for a device to simulate wave forms. My challenge is that when I try to convert the output of the following code, I can't convert the Math.Sin's double output into byte values that lend themselves to the byte array format required by an existing graphing control as listed at bottom below. I''m not sure how to handle this when the sin function creates negative values but the byte values will need to be positive and basically 'shifted up' so that anything over 127 is negative. (0 - 255) unsigned. BitConverter.GetBytes has been suggested but THIS is the result of that attempt.

The project was to modify a previous payroll system project, which had a base class(employee) and 3 derived classes(salary, commision,and base + commission) under it by adding 2 more derived classes(piecework and hourly).Before I stated the modification, everything worked fine. When I would run the program the 3 types of employees would display in each output text box. The same thing is supposed to happen after I added the 2 additional types of employees, but now when I run the program, both output text boxes are completely blank. I'm not sure why I can't get anything to display in my 2 output boxes and all of the coding looks correct to me.

How can this be so difficult and why? Returning simple XML with no Name Spaces and an XML decaration. Creating the XML using XML Writer is easily done and if I output it to a file then great. How on earth can you return the contents via WCF. Using an XML Element is no good as you loose the XML declaration and using a string is no good as the output is wrapped up in a <string> element. Can't return an XML Document as it can't be serialised.I know that there are many posts on this site, but none answer the question. I am using an email verification program I have downloaded to test the validity of a given email address.I have setup a class in VB using Visual Studio 2010 with the required code that runs the check.I have then registered this as a COM so I can call it through VBA in Excel.In an excel workbook I have then created a module that calls the VB class. The excel module tests whether the email address typed in cell "A1" is valid or not. At the moment the VB class simply gives me a messagebox output saying "Success" or "Fail" which works fine.What I actually want though is for the "success" or "Fail" message to appear in cell "A2" next to the email address as opposed to the current messagebox output.

View 7 RepliesMy application uses a third party API. This API uses a few functions that returns a value by reference as one of the function parameters. Problem is according to their documentation, the value I am trying to get out of this function is a string pointer.
So if that made no sense, heres an example of the syntax of the function as shown in their documentation:

I need to out each line of text to a seperate textbox. or label. Im not sure about a string. Can a string hold a value like, "192.168.1.1 2302"? If so, then how would i output it to a string. If not, textbox or label please. Please keep it simple as possible, since I will probably be needing to repeat this process 500 times, like, a different string for each line, i will have a lot of lines. I am using the Process class to do this:[code]What I want it to be able to display the output from this process to the console of my application. I have read several posts explaining this method, but it does not seem to work in this case. The output is an empty string.[code]I have verified that if I run the msxsl executable on its own (i.e. running "msxsl.exe base.xml test.xsl -o styled.xml"), it displays output on the command line. What am I doing wrong?I should note that the msxsl process is currently failing due to a malformed XML file.
