it is possible to create a class based on text box, add some code to its events, say gotfocus event, and visually add this textbox to a form instead of adding it in code. Just like we drag and drop a textbox to a form from toolbox.
How could I create custom commands based on text? Like, say I have a textbox, and in the textbox is this: "say Hi". When I press the "Execute" button, it will do this: "MsgBox("Hi")"... Kind of like a custom scripting language... I want my application to support scripting, but I want the syntax to be simple... How do I go about doing this?
I have a form that needs to create textboxes based off the count of rows in my dataset table. The amount of rows could vary from 10 to 20, so I need a loop to add the textboxes to add the textboxes on load. Right now I have the loop down and other things shown below.[code]...
I have had several occasions recently to access a specific class several times over a relatively small time frame. So I've been storing the value of the class in Session and trying to access it on page load, if it's not available creating a new instance and storing that in session.
So instead of constantly replicating the same code for different classes on different pages I'm trying to create an extension method to do this for me.
[Code]...
I'm stuck on what to do when I make my new instance of my class (it would have to have a New() sub)
I'm not sure where to go from here... or even if this is the best way to do it.
'This code usualy works when placed within the forms code, however I am wanting to create a class with several text manipulators. The error says System.windows.Controls is not defined
Is there a way to read an image pixle by pixle and create a text file based in the information.Lets assume we are reading each pixle from left to right. Once you reach the last pixle of the line you move to the line below that one and continue reading. Here is a very simple "if" statement to help visualize the process:
I am creating a project in VB.NET in which one of the reports require that the name of employees should be displayed as column names and whatever work they have done for a stated period should appear in rows below that particular column. Now as it is clear, the columns will have to be added at runtime. Am using an ODBC Data source to populate the grid. Also since a loop will have to be done to find out the work done by employees individually, so the number of rows under one column might be less or more than the rows in the next column. Is there a way to create an empty data table and then update its contents based on columns and not add data based on addition of new rows.
I've been creating short test apps repeatedly to try to understand some of the concepts in VB.NET.For the most part it has been illuminating.I read Bucky's .NET knowlegebase tutorial on passing objects as parameters to newly created forms. He shows how to create a new class that inherits from the base form class and define a New() method with parameters Extending the concept I thought about doing the same thing with a form that was created at design-time (In this case Form2).
I want to read a number of items from a file and then associate each of those items with a new button at run-time, so that when the user clicks one of the buttons I can display some information about that item. Can I use a LIST to manage these buttons and items? Can I create a new class and have each list item of that class, such as 'btnID', 'btnText', etc... ?
You know how everyone says "C++ is like C with classes"?How similar is it to .NET classes? instance a class, based on other classes, add new properties, override existing properties, etc?Are the variables strongly-typed and declared before they are used? Or is it a Duck-Typing language like Python?
Also, does it have its own Garbage Collector that disposes of objects when the pointer exits their scope,or do you have to manually clear and get rid of them when you finish with them? What's the difference between native C++, and the "managed C++" in Visual Studio? Because I'd prefer to use native code if its not too much harder. for the sake of all that is good and holy, don't use ACCESS, EXCEL, or a TEXT FILE as a database. If you want your program to use a "local database", without any of the hassle of setting up a MS SQL or MySQL server, just click this link: >>> SQLite <<< Seriously. This is for your own good.
I'm an intermediate student taking on a monopoly game for a summative project. I decided to simulate the game monopoly. The rules are the same as the board game, so the idea is that each "property" or board piece is a button. I will have variables for the players position and player totals. To indicate an owned property, I'll change the buttons to flatstyle and use the bordercolor property.
To indicate the player position, I change the text on the button to include "Player: " etc. The trouble I'm having is that each button is named based on position, followed by the name. ie: "btn1Start", "btn2BalticAvenue", so on and so forth. Now, once I roll the two die and gather random integers, I add the total to the player position. Now what I want to do is find the button that the position corresponds to.
Private Sub turn(ByRef playerPosition As Integer) Dim die1 As Integer = Int(6 * Rnd() + 1) Dim die2 As Integer = Int(6 * Rnd() + 1) playerPosition += die1 + die2 Dim button1 As Button = ?
I've tried various methods. Me.Controls.Contains("btn" & Position) is a boolean, so I can't make an object control class equal to that. Me.Controls.Find requires an exact name, so I can't do Me.Controls.Find("btn" & Position) because it needs the full name - each property has something else added on to the name (eg "BalticAvenue"). I want to set the button equal to the specific button based on the turn position, so I can update the text to include the player and allow him/her to initiate the property's effect (buy/pay rent/or chance cards).
i am building this application for receiving data frm modem my application is consoled based, problem here is that its giving me an error in the line which is bold that invoke is not the member of mdm firstly i developed this with form, which has invoke method so i called it using me.invoke, now since i am at a console enviornment so it is not working..[code]
I want to define a generic interface which will be implemented by an abstract Generic Class. Basically this generic class is a collection class of any class. Interfaces are in a separate project saved as FileReconciliation. Here are the interface definitions
Interfaces Imports System.Collections Public Interface ICollectionCommon(Of T As Class) Inherits IEnumerable Function Exists(ByVal oKey As Object) As Boolean [Code] .....
As an ameture developer, I've never really used classes. However, I've been reading about using classes and automatic properties. I have therefore created a class which looks similar to this:
Public Class Quote Property QuoteNum as integer Property AccNum as String Property Price as Decimal End Class
The stumbling part for me comes in the way of letting form2 know which class form1 has initialized. There are in this example 3 forms to this wizard. If someone starts another wizard whilst half way through the first wizard we need to keep the variables seperate hence using the class. I think I'm along the right track, but maybe confusing myself a little.
I wanted to get your feedback on a design/coding issue. I have a treeview which represents the device tree in device manager. I also have two listviews which display information about the currently selected device on the treeview. I'm only concerned with the first listview at this point. The information displayed in the listview varies depending on the selected device. I'm using the node index to track which device class and device is selected and I pass this into the device class Display method. I hate the idea of a big Select Case statement. Then there is also the dynamic nature of the device tree to consider.
I want to create a class that will "search" for something. Basically I load up the "search item" when the class is created and inside the class is logic to do the "search". The result of this logic will be more "searches" that I want to start. How can I have the logic in the class create another instance of the class itself?
i try to convert this kind of sql query into linq in visual basic, but i get stuck on how to make a percent.. I also don't know how to use linqpad for creating this linq
SELECT CASE RIGHT(PICName, 3) WHEN '(P)' THEN 'Problem' WHEN '(R)' THEN 'Request'
I am working on a database application for my Class Reunion in VB.et and VS 2008, My problem is when i build the program it will only work with 1 Database For my Class year, I would like the ability to be able to create a new database for a different classyear than the 1 i build and pre-Populate, so the person using it can do more than 1 year and keep the databases seperate.
The code below creates multiple folders based on different file names and moves those files into the new folders. For example, files ABC and XYZ are moved into a newly created folder named ABC and XYZ. I want to advance the code to allow slightly different file names to go into a common folder. Example, I want file ABC_rock, ABC_soil, and ABC_water to be put into a folder named ABC still, AND file XYZ_rock, XYZ_soil, and XYZ_water to be put into a folder named XYZ. I do not want a separate folder created for ABC_rock, ABC_soil, and ABC_water.[code]...
My requirement is to create a XML file based on an XSD. The source data for this file will be coming from a database. For the purposes of this test, I am trying to manually assign the values.
can someone please help me with a textbox? I have created a new class and require this textbox field within a sub in the new class but i get Error1 'TextBox1' is not declared. It may be inaccessible due to its protection level.I have tried MyClass.TextBox1 = Form1.TextBox1 but I get declaration expected.
I have a bunch of objects, they aren't in XML but the xml document would look like this[code]...
The tree is obviously very deep. Does anyone have an algorithm to create this into a jstree, series of "UL" and "LI". It would be christmas if you had the code in vb...but I will be satisfied with just the logic. My thought is to eventually make this into a jsonp web service so I can use jstree to build a tree, but for now im just trying to understand the logic necessary to parse this correctly.

I am looking to create several custom controls (PictureBox Derivatives) on during runtime. I've read that the best way is to create template controls that will be created, and duplicate them in the Controls array.
Well, that's all fine and dandy, but what's the best way to store the template? I considered a seperate form with all the templates laid out on it for easy access for my editing, and keeping them out of the user's sight. I also considdered doing a Struct for each template, and smply mirroring values onto the control being created from the Struct to the created control.
I'm looking for ease of development first and foremost, as I'm most likely going to have a vast number of these templates, and keeping the system as simple as possible will eliminate a lot of hair-pulling. After development ease, I'd go for optimisation.
I have a directory with about 200 files in it. Is there a way to create a folder for each file with the folder name being the same as the file name minus the extension and then put the file in the folder. For example: Folder "test" would be created from file "test.doc". Then the file "test.doc" would be moved into folder "test".I have some experience with visual basic, and my thought process for this was: make a loop that brought in each file name > store as a variable > create folder with the name in the variable > remove the last four characters from the folder name > move file into the folder > clear variable > repeat.
