Create A Class To Deal With Records From The Classes Table?

Dec 5, 2010

Create a class to deal with records from the Classes table, much like the Student class we created in Lecture #17 handles Students records. The name of the class should be Ualb_Class (note we cannot use Class, as it is a reserved word in VBA). All of the fields should have corresponding properties. There are few considerations:

The class (course) code, department code, and course number are set at Initialize, so there is only a Get property method for those

The property for Meeting Day only accepts one of the values defined in the table. You can decide whether to accept an integer value or a string value of the days represented.

You are also to code the Initialize method, much like we coded the Initialize method for the Student class in Lecture #17. In the Initialize method, you will use the InputBox function to obtain the department code and course number. use a different InputBox for each value, so you don't have to mess with separating the single text value returned from that function. The Course Code will be obtained by using a function that has already been created, called GetNewCourseID. It has no parameters.

VS 2010 Records In Table Are Determined By Records In Another Table?

Apr 22, 2012

I have a database with 3 tables: Student, Unavailability and Duty. The fields for Student are entered in a form I have. One of the fields in Unavailability is filled by a form, the other fields are an autonumber and a foreign key to the Student table.ow I want records in the Duty table to be created and automatically filled in depending on what the values of the fields are in the Student table. For example, If the Boarder field in the Student table is 'yes' then I want the Duty Number field in the Duty table to be '1', '3' and '4'. If it is 'no' then I want the value to be '2' and '5'. I recognize it will have to create several different records to incorporate the different duty numbers for each StudentID. Obviously this will require an if statement, however this is my first time implementing a database with my limited experience with programming and Visual Basic, so I don't know how to refer to the specific fields in a table and set the value of other fields depending on the data in other fields.

DB/Reporting :: Check If Newly Added Records Have Been Saved

May 7, 2008

I'm trying to build a new customer data entry page for a db project. One of the features I would like to add is a way to check and see if there have been any new records that have been added that haven't been explicitly saved to the db. If so, when the form_closing events fires I want to evaluate whether or not new entries have been made that weren't saved, and then count the number of rows that haven't been saved.

If the Coach is not in database, user will be prompt to insert a new Coach record. Problem is, when saved, the newly inserted record will not be displayed and i have to exit and rerun the program, only then the record will be displayed.

Windows - Records Added To Ms Access Database With Vb 2010 Not Saving?

Mar 18, 2012

I'm working on a simple data logging program, and I have little to no database experience. I wrote a little VB forms app to log the data to ms access and then graph the data, but I'm having trouble with adding records to the database. First, I created a simple one table database in access. Then, I added the database to the project as a data source, and gave it a data set using the wizard. Right now my code looks like this:

[Code]...

There are no problems during build or run time, but I do not see changes to database after the program runs.

VS 2010 Insert Records In One Table From Another Table With Sql Satement?

Mar 27, 2012

I do this in Oracle databases just in a snap, but now I have to do it in VB using ADODB and I don't know how to do it.

I have two Access 2007 tables. Table A contains: Col1 (text), Col2 (text), Col3(date), Col4(amount), Col5(text)

Table B contains Col1(date), Col2(amount) What I need to do is to insert into table B the records of table A (col4 summed) grouped by date of table A. The date is a variable contained in a text box so it cannot be hardcoded into the SQL statement.

Jquery - Post Table Rows, Added Via Javascript To The Server In ASP.NET?

Oct 3, 2011

Access <asp:table> table rows added by javascript in asp.net webform . Apologies for the duplicate question but I'd really like an explanation why this is the case. It is probably due to my lack of understanding on how browsers process HTML tables on submission to the server. If I have a <HTML> table or an <asp:table> control on an aspx page and I add rows to it client-side using JQuery / Javascript, why can I not include these added rows in a post-back to the server?

I've been trying to get this to work and it looks like I can't do it based on the answer to the previous question. But can someone explain why this is the case? The table itself can be returned in the post-back but the only rows present are the rows that were part of the table when it was sent to the browser originally - it does not include the rows added by the browser.there was a way to include these new rows in the post-back, the same as any client-side user input?

Parameter Update Reports 1 Row Updated But No Data In Table Added

Oct 13, 2011

I am getting an incorrect repsonse after an update to a table. In my RowUpdating event I have the following code which builds an Update Parameter to call an SP to update a table. I must be doing something wrong but everything runs fine. My rowsAffected variable reports 1 after the update, but the table never gets the data.[code]I found a solution that is working. On the original DataSource for the update command I needed to add the following.[code]This in essence allows the original data source to call the SP. Note: that the command type needs to stay as TEXT not Stored Procedure as one might think.

Insert Many Records Into Oracle Table?

Jun 9, 2011

Relatively new to VB.NET coding. Am creating a pretty simple console application that needs to insert over 50,000 records into an Oracle table (OleDB connection). I tried 3 different methods so far: Individual INSERT, insert using a dataset, & using INSERT ALL (commit every 25 records due to # of columns). It seemed like most articles/posts I read recommended the dataset approach, but the INSERT ALL code was definitely the fastest by far.
