Create An UnInterface Making Sure That The Class Does Not Have A Method / Property

Interface makes sure a class does have a Method / Property, However is there a way to create an unInterface, making sure that the class does not have a method / property or is there a way to implement something that will unimplement every other implements except for itself?
what i want to do: i've got a class that serves as a storage for information only, so i decided to give it a blank interface IBank, the other classes that share this feature will implement this interface. they should not implement any other interface the use is that when i seek out the interface of a class and realise that its IBank i know that its just a class for info storage.

Obviously, I don't wish that the class Glider has the method "start_engines" neither the property "num_engines". Otherwise, other child classes may have. How can I supress these property and method in child class, not just ignoring (if I can)?

Is it accepted to have a method parameter named the same as a property? At least it gives no error, even if in the same letter-case.. How does the compiler distinguish? does it always prioritize the local parameter?

I've been creating short test apps repeatedly to try to understand some of the concepts in VB.NET.For the most part it has been illuminating.I read Bucky's .NET knowlegebase tutorial on passing objects as parameters to newly created forms. He shows how to create a new class that inherits from the base form class and define a New() method with parameters Extending the concept I thought about doing the same thing with a form that was created at design-time (In this case Form2).

I am experimenting with a transition from my application built in VB6 to vb.net. I know, about time. At the same time, i am making changes and improving upon the original. One area that I am working on is within my employee class. very standard class, nothing fancy. One change I want to make though is allow for an employee to be assigned more than one work location. Employee has (is assigned) Stores. In reading about collections, it appears they are different in .net (as they should be), but I don't know what the sytax changes will be to implement my changes.

I have this application which has one class. I need to return a recordset of data to the calling form. If i use Properties to return, it can only return only a single value at a time. Right now i'm returning a datareader object with one of the properties.Can anyone suggest a better way to return multiple rows of data to the calling method via Class Property?

I would like to format output to a property of a custom control I have made.For instance I have a literal control in my control and when populated I want to check if it is longer than 30 characters long, if so, then go to the next space (as to not cut the word off) after the 30th character and place a <br /> tag in to place the next 30 characters on the next line.So if there were 100 characters in a string, there would be 3 line breaks in the label.I have the looping worked out to get the label populated but cannot get how to dymaically create the array based on the string lenth property and index of method.

I can create several properties of a custom class and get/set values or I can create a method to set them all at once. Is there a (simple) way to connect a textbox, label etc. to a property in a class?I have a project with a complex series of dialogs to enter data into a list of a costum class describing an experiment with many parameters that are stored as properties (both simple variables such as strings and integers, but also more complex ones).I need both to be able to update the list of my experiment class, but also to go the other way to populate the dialogs from the class.It can of course be done outside the class and the dialogs in separate subroutines. This however, quicly becomes unmanagable and hard to maintain as the dialogs and experiment class is expanded with new elements.If there was a simple way to connect say a textbox or label in a dialog with the appropriate property holding the information it would make it much easier.

start with I was given a program by a friend that was created in Excel 2003 with the help of Visual Basic Editor. He said he used Visual Basic 2003, which he is not 100% sure about. I have had several occasions recently to access a specific class several times over a relatively small time frame.So I've been storing the value of the class in Session and trying to access it on page load, if it's not available creating a new instance and storing that in session.
So instead of constantly replicating the same code for different classes on different pages I'm trying to create an extension method to do this for me.

I followed up on Cor's comment about turning fields into properties in Visual Basic 2008 Express and have hit another road block.In the following Class declarations, ASet.Integrity is meant to be dependent on the set of AFolder.Integrity values.As an example, when Getting ASet.Integrity, it is true only if every AFolder.Integrity is true.At the two points marked by xxxxx, I am trying to code this relationship, and expected to be able to make use of "AFolder.Integrity" but the IDE will not recognise this input. I have tried all sorts of flavours of declarations of Afolder within ASet and within the FolderList declaration, as well as instantiations of AFolder and FolderList

I have a very simple class that holds a few public properties - ID, Text, Colour, etc. and a Boolean called 'SelectedItem'. Just like the Checked property on RadioButtons, only one item can have its SelectedItem property set to True within a particular group. Note: there will be several separate groups (lists), each allowed to have only one item with SelectedItem = True.
My first thought was that I would probably just have to handle everything outside of the class, setting SelectedItem to False for every other item in a particular list when another item was selected. But that seems rather inelegant to me. So I've been trying to think of how this might be done within the class. For example: could I perhaps have a private string property called say "GroupName" - set in the New sub when adding a new instance of the class - and then use a private shared method to set every item's SelectedItem property to False, provided the item has the same GroupName as the newly selected item? I would have a go at doing this but I have no idea how to enumerate every instance of a class from within that class, or whether that's even possible. Is it? Or is there another (better) way to achieve my goal? Here is a cut-down version of what I've got so far:

As can be seen: instead of instantiating a new ResourceItem and passing that as an argument to the manager's Add procedure, I'm simply passing the details of the new item and the procedure is creating the item from those. I don't know whether this is a good or bad idea - please advise - but I've done it because I couldn't figure out how to make the SelectedItem property only writeable by the manager, so I wanted to avoid having directly accessible objects that could have their SelectedItem property set to True without it deselecting all the other items in the same group. Of course that still leaves the possibility of setting a variable to one of the manager's list items and setting it from there, so I would still like to know how I could prevent that, if possible.
UPDATE: I didn't use the code above in the end, deciding instead to go with Cyborgx37's solution - which seems to work perfectly well for me despite the warnings about best practice. I also realised I would need to use the same class in another scenario where multiple items could be selected, so it was easy to add a Boolean property to the manager to enable that.

Base class has one field to hold numeric balance value. With 2 methods that accept arguments for adding and subtracting the new input calculating new balance. Sub class has four fields dates, transaction, memo and amount.I have a deposit form, and withdraw form. Each time one transaction is entered it creates an object with sub class fields, then adds to the account collection. My problem is not understanding how to call the deposit/withdraw method and pass the current transaction amount back to the base class to alculate the new balance. Does anyone have any links to information/tutorials on how to perform something like this? As you can see with my code I have tried various different approaches without any success.

I have a large problem with inheritance in vb.net. The problem is the following:
I have 2 forms => frmBase and frmChild
In frmBase i want to create a method Called StartWorking() and i want frmChild to inherit this method.
But here is the tricky thing: when frmChild.StartWorking is called i would like the following => without calling MyBase.StartWorking()
I want frmBase.StartWorking() to be executed first and after a test in frmBase.StartWorking if blnValue is true then frmChild.StartWorking has to be activated. if blnValue is false that frmChild.StartWorking cannot be activated.

However, if the empty constructor was called to instatiate this class then the colortype is not yet set. Therefore, if one accesses the 'IsColorCool' property it will always return 'False'. Now for the sake of this example, I must keep the empty constructor as part of the class.Now I could add some code in the 'IsPropertyCool' to check and see if a ColorType has been defined, and throw an exception if it has not been set, but I don't really want to do that.I also could always move the logic OUT of the property and into a method on the class called 'DefineIfColorIsCool' or something, and make the owness on the caller to make sure the method was called if they want to use the property 'IsColorCool'?
