I want to know how to create our own file, such as: (.Docx). If we opened the file in notepad the characters contained in the that's file could not understand, so i would like to know by what method of making the it's file? Is the file created and use encryption method or what?

what i want to do: i've got a class that serves as a storage for information only, so i decided to give it a blank interface IBank, the other classes that share this feature will implement this interface. they should not implement any other interface the use is that when i seek out the interface of a class and realise that its IBank i know that its just a class for info storage.
I have to generate an XML file from several database tables. I could use the WriteXml method of the DataSet to do it, but the database tables are really huge and I can't add all those tables in the DataSet at the same time or it may cause a problem because of the big amount of memory used. Then I decided to use the DataTable's WriteXml method and save table after table, but the the generated file only stores the information of the last DataTable.WriteXml's call. How can I preserve the previous XML data when adding all that information?

When I try to download I get an exception for the file, Access Denied to Path. When I gave the permissions to folder that I chose, then works fine. How can I resolve that problem? I know how to create a source to get the strings from the text file using ReadLine method, but I have no idea how to split the strings in the text file by on the third commas and ignore the other strings while select with the matched strings on the listbox for each row.Here it is an example listbox Here it is an example items on the listbox

The listbox is display the list of an example items, so if I select the "random item 1" item on the listbox, it read the strings through in the text file on the first line to get the strings on the third commas in the same line which it is (any random strings 1) to split it while ignore the other strings (other strings 1, final end of strings 1) that come fourth and fifth commas. So, if I select the "random item 2" item on the listbox, it read the the strings through in the text file on the second line to get the strings on the third commas in the same line which it is (any random strings 2) to split it while ignore the other strings (other strings 2, final end of strings 2) that come fourth and fifth commas and so on...That is what I am trying to achieve by select the each listbox item to get the correct strings for each line in the text file that come on the third commas while to ignore the other strings.
the problem is I'm trying to access a file that has no file extension. I think you can see why this is so difficult. The specific file I'm trying to edit is the hosts file (C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts).

What if you do not know where your program will be, and you are just testing it for now? Is there any way for it to "find" your program, or an easy way to edit where it is opened? For that matter, is it possible to tell if the file has been associated already, is it an issue to try and reassociate? Finally, how can you set the .ico file it uses?

I have 2 forms => frmBase and frmChild
In frmBase i want to create a method Called StartWorking() and i want frmChild to inherit this method.
But here is the tricky thing: when frmChild.StartWorking is called i would like the following => without calling MyBase.StartWorking()
I want frmBase.StartWorking() to be executed first and after a test in frmBase.StartWorking if blnValue is true then frmChild.StartWorking has to be activated. if blnValue is false that frmChild.StartWorking cannot be activated.
Inside the program I have a text box in which a user puts in the filepath to a textfile that the program then uses as a series of commands to perform tasks. This works perfectly, however what I would like to to do to make my program faster is associate the file extension .gam with the program, so when a user clicks a .gam file it opens the program and automatically sets said file's location into the text field, as opposed to using the browse button I added and browsing to said file everytime they run the program.
Through this a user could then make a shortcut to said .gam file and run it right from their desktop, as opposed to rummaging around in folders and whatnot. At the moment my method has been thus, I have 2 folders of importance I have archived with the .exe, Gambits Pro.exe, these are: Gambits, and Control, inside of the Gambits folder is the default storage location for .gam files, as when you click the browse button its default directory is that folder. I have also added a few example files in said folder for a user when they download the program.

Instead of creating a listbox to hold the names of one's favorites, I've made it so when you add a bookmark it adds it under the directory (yourusername)/bookmarks. (yourusername) is represented by login.usernametextbox.text. Now I've added a filelistbox to the form and want it to display the contents of the bookmarks folder only without the file name extensions. Just the title. Then when a user clicks on the title it navigates to that specified file by opening a new instance of a browser form. Here's what I have so far:

I created a com dll using Vb .net 2005. One of my classes inherits from System.Collections.CollectionBase. The methods of CollectionBase, such as Count and clear are not visible/usable to the program that references the dll. How do I make those methods/properties visible?

I would like to make a method excute right before the user get back controle of the program. No matter what chain of events happens i would like to beable to have a method is always the last thing to excute. I plan on using the method to check the form and the data on it. I have no issues righting the method, I just don't know if their is a event or some other way to make sure it is always the last thing to excute. I have nine pictures that I need to animate -I need to use the ToString method and a counter to concatenate a file name into a string variable from the Image.FromFile method. Once the counter reaches its maximum value, and the last picture is displayed, the counter should be reset to zero or one depending on how the first image file has been name. Also a static counter variable should be incremented in the time routine. what I have so far -- I know what I have to do; however, I just do not know how to code this properly.. I've got this code here, hard coded into a button. What I want to do is create a module with a method, let's call it "openFile."
That way, in the future, I can just call openFile("default directory",file type, etc etc) and also being able to set the input from the reader as the text in a text box or something all in one line of code. Is this possible? I don't know anything about writing modules or my own methods/API or anything like that...Can someone point me to a tutorial about this?
