Created A SELECT FROM WHERE Query To Perform A Search

I have created a SELECT FROM WHERE query to perform a search here is my code:
SELECT EmployeeID, DepartmentID, Forename, Surname, Role, Email, Telephone, Extension, Mobile, Photo FROM Employees
WHERE (Forename = ? or ? = '') and (Surname = ? or ? = '') and (Role = ? or ? = '')
I have then put the folllowing code to rung the query within my form:
Me.EmployeesTableAdapter.FillByName(Me.myDataSet.Employees, Me.ForenameTextBox.Text, Me.ForenameTextBox.Text, Me.SurnameTextBox.Text, Me.SurnameTextBox.Text, Me.RoleTextBox.Text, Me.RoleTextBox.Text)
When i search by forename or surname it works fine but when i search by role i get this error..oledbException occured No value given for one or more required parameters.

Im trying to figure out how to query a dataset when I select multiple values in a list box? I have the list box linked to the dataset and am using a button to search the values selected in the list box. I don't know what to do!

I am developing a application in which i need to get images from a search engine. there are many choices to do that google,yahoo, bing etc. I chose bing simply because microsoft provides tight integration with bing and it offers more functionality to developers. So after searching some more i learned how to use this service in my application. Created a key and added web service reference in my solution.[code]But i cant figure out how to do that, after a lot of searching i came up with this link here url...I am unable to use it. If i use it no results are returned.

I'm running into some issues when trying to perform a directory search. For some reason I keep getting a {"Unknown error (0x80005000)"} -2147463168 soon as I try and run the search. When I review the details of the error under item I get "In order to evaluate an indexed property, the property must be qualified and the arguments must be explicitly supplied by the user."I'm running as the domain admin, so I hope I can rule permissions out of the picture. I have tried the ldap string with and without the server nameip address makes no difference.Starting to think there is an issue with AD.

I am creating an Excel Add-In using Visual Studio 2010. I would like to run some code when users clicks a combination of keys.Here is the code I have got

The Add-In when installed shows an error on clicking the short cuts. It says the specific macro cannot be found.The code under the Sub EnableShortCut() works well when it is in an excel vba module. The same won't work when it is added to an Excel Add-In created with Visual Studio.

I've been reading the official DNS RFC [URL].. and looking at articles like this that explain how DNS query packets are structured [URL].. but I'm having a hard time trying to combine the two and actually get to a point where I know what to do
Basically I know that I need to use UDP to send the query and there is only one type of query I actually want to perform - an MX lookup. So I'm hoping that means I dont need to account for a lot of things that anyone creating a complete DNS Resolver would need to implement.
The only experience I have with network communication like this is with protocols that are text based (and use TCP, but I dont think that makes much difference here, if anything UDP should be easier). DNS however is binary based and I just cant figure out how I would know what bytes to send down the wire for a specific MX query..

I want to link sql server and vb.net (ADO.NET) . I'm using visual basic 2008 express edition and sql server management studio.
My problem is how to perform a search starting from the completion of a form (in vb.net ). On pressing the button search it verifies if the records are in the table (in my case FoaieParcursMasina).

I'm currently doing a program to search for text in powerpoint files using interop in vb.net 2005. When a user does a search, it will open the powerpoint (.ppt) file and do the search. This is working fine.What I want to achieve next is if the powerpoint file is already opened, I want the program to search for text in the opened powerpoint file (without opening the file again in ReadOnly mode).How can I do that..? I mean, I need to first search the list of opened program to see if the powerpoint file is opened and then i need to somehow cause my program to gain control of the opened powerpoint file before I can do a search right..? How can I do that..?

I have built a webcrawler where I use a webbrowser control for a user to enter a url and perform a search. Once the page is uploaded, my app grabs the HTMl and then with a button click convert it into plain text by using html agility pack (HAP). Finally by clicking a button I store the result inside a sql server database.

In my company we use Oracle Applications. Almoust every form in these applications have a common behaviour, which is:
Whenever the forms is opened one can immediately start entering data but one can also press F7, which makes the form to enter in query-mode. You can then fill one or more forms fileds with the data you are searching for and press F8, which executes the query and returns the data into the form. The query mode can be interrupted by pressing Ctrl+Q, returning to data entry mode.
My question is if there is a way of having similar behaviour on building VB forms. I'm using VS 2010.

I'm a bit of a noob at this and finding that all my research that's led me to wanting to do things right for data integrity are making it a bit more complicated on the front end.
Presently I have a Form in which I have two DataGridViews that I'm populating, each with it's respective stored procedure.
What the form is for is for linking rows from the one DataGridView (I'll call it DGV1) to a different one in the other DataGridView (DGV2).
Now to facilitate the ease of doing this for the user I want to both have the dgvs fully populated so that if the user wants they can just slide on through and manually select the rows in each they want and then there'll be a button to select which I'm planning to then use another stored procedure to then insert this connection between these two items into the database.
Another thing to facilitate this is a search bar. I want them to be able to type in something and have the datagridviews both navigate to where their selection is as well as selecting it so that it's then ready to be bound to the selection in the other.
What I'm wanting to know, and having a hard time figuring out, is how do you get such a search function to work on DataGridViews that I have bound to these read only stored procedures? How do I search and select within the DataGridView? And then how would I go about using the selection from two different datagridviews and putting those as parameters in the stored procedure that I wanted to use to then record the relationship in the database?

I am attempting to have my program select a file, create DataTables and then perform some other functions. I want to be able to open another file and re-do the same steps.The problem I am having is that I add columns to my Datatables and when I try and to open another file while one is already open I get a message that a column of xyz is already added how do I properly "clear my datatable" or perhaps that isnt even the correct approach? I created a Query in a database in Access. I want to attach it to a DataGridView in VB2010. I then went to VB and connected to a Database. Then I dragged a DataGridView onto the form. Up came a pop-up menu. I Clicked on Choose Datasource, Add a DataSource,clicked on all the next buttons, selected Tables and Views checkboxes and clicked finish.In the next view up pops a menu that lists my Database and it's tables, but not the created Query. The Query does exist in the Database and I am accessing the correct version.

Every LINQ example I have seen for VB.NET anonymous types claims I can do something like this:

Now when I go to iterate through the collection(see example below), I get an error that says "Name "x" is not declared. For Each x in Infos It's like VB.NET doesn't understand that Infos is a collection of anonymous types created by LINQ and wants me to declare "x" as some type. (Wouldn't this defeat the purpose of an anonymous type?) I have added the references to System.Data.Linq and System.Data.DataSetExtensions to my project. Here is what I am importing with the class:

-For Title exact phrase will get 0.5 points
-For Description exact phrase will get 0.4 points

Is it possible to Query or search or anything for a DBX file. We are looking to be able to pull out the Sender, Subject, Date of Arrival, Yes/No Attachment, and the body if possible of the message. I've found a bunch of programs online so it seems possible, but how do you do it? I'm currently using VB 2005 but could work this out in C# if VB isn't a good option.

I'm attempting to query an Access database using a search button from a textbox and insert the results into a listbox. Here's the code I have so far:

The problem I'm having is it's returning the both InstName and the StuName multiple times in the listbox. I'm guessing it's because I'm doing the items.add twice? I was trying to use "[oledbcommand variable name].parameters.addwithvalue" but I couldn't figure out how to do it with a "like" function.
