Created An FTP Client That Uses Pasv Mode To Transfer File In .NET?
Jul 13, 2011
I have created an FTP client that uses pasv mode to transfer file in VB.NET.while downloading a list of files the often times the application will hang on the socket.recieve command of the data channel and never return.I have tried setting the timeout to forever, and waited hours. We control the ftp server, it is IIS 7.5.I can not duplicate the issue in house. It only seems to be happening in the client enviroment
I examined the ftp logs of our server and there is no difference between a successfull transfer and a failed.I also examinid our firewall and no port blocking has occured
I'm encountering problems when i want to download files from my server to my clients. My client is able to connect to my server but it will never transfer the file over to my client and i am unable to solve it.
I really need to know if its possible because I'm making a messaging client since me and my friend find believe MSN is getting buggier. I've looked on how to do it but none of them worked for me, or were server to client. I want to make it client to server to clients but I don't know how! I know I shouldn't tell you to give me code but maybe give me a few tips on this. Me and my friend share files nearly everyday.
i am creating a software that needs to transfer data between client and server. i m storing the data in client in a database. but how does server access every clients data.
I have a document with VBA controls in it that I created in MS Word 2003. After migrating to MS Word 2007, I get the message that "Can't exit design mode because control 'lblEmaillist' can not be created".
After reading through the various forums here and on microsoft.com it seems to be a known problem. I looked at these articles but am still having a bit of trouble...
[URL] refers to the same problem in word 2000 but after following the directions I still am getting the problem.
The problem does not occur when I open the document in MS Word 2007 or MS Word 2003. The problem only occurs when I open click on the link from IE.
I've set up the location as a trusted location in Office 2007 settings so that should not be an issue.
The document in question is being saved in the word 97-2003 format due to the fact that some people here have not upgraded to office 2007. I tried saving it as a .docm for office 2007 but the error message still came up.
I was getting this error "The server returned an address in response to the PASV command that is different than the address to which the FTP connection was made." when i trying to get the response from my partner ftp server, Google implies me to change my .UsePassive to false, when i do tat, my error turn to "The operation has timed out" on .GetRequestStream() line. I tried to change my time out values to -1, and it doesn't work as well.
System.Net.WebException was unhandled Message="The operation has timed out" Source="System" StackTrace:
[code]....
And the file is only few kb, by right its not suppose to that long of time to stream it And is this possible the problem cause from FTP server setting? I got no experience in setting FTP server setting so i got no idea whether my connection was restricted by the server?
I'm converting a bunch of FOXPRO / FOXWEB apps to ASP.NET.
The underlying DB is still foxpro (for the moment).
I am passing a table to some VB.NET code that I want to have converted to a CSV file and sent back to the client for download. And it works! Sort of ... It works sometimes, but at other times, instead of asking me if I want to download the CSV file, it just spews the file to the browser window. [code]...
when i transfer the bytes sent by the client program to a string the string length is affected.when i put the bytes sent by the client program to a message box. it returns the corrrect text. but when i check the length it will return 8192 or higher. but the actual size is just 5.
My Code
Dim tcpClient As TcpClient = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient() RichTextBox1.Text = RichTextBox1.Text & vbNewLine & "Connection accepted." ' Get the stream[code]....
I have been reading through Atheists posts in regards to client-server and TCP client/server connection's. But how do i go about writing a program with 1 client and server where the client side creates a text file.Once the server sees there is a text file it connects and downloads it to itself or the client pushes the text file to the server.Once on the server i will read the text file and put its info into a sql db.
I have created a Client that can send and receive data via TCP sockets. The objects stored on the serverside are the *exact* same object used for the client. They use the same send and receive protocols.
Now, when i send a string from the server to the client , it does precisely what it should do. However when I send a string to the server.... I do receive the string as an equal length of NULL characters. I run the server and client locally.
Basicly what can influence the behaviour between two completely identical objects performing the exact same task? I wonder if there is some socketflag issue if the TCPlistener.accept function returns a completely different setup then the one I R used to.
(if it is of any interest, the send protocol is asynchronious)
I'm wondering if there is any code that I could use in VB.net so it can determine the computer's startup mode (such as safe mode or safe mode with networking).
i am using visual studio 2005 on win 7 with office 2007. i have developed win application. i am using microsoft activex spreadsheet component in my program. so it automatically creates reference to AxInterop.OWC11.dll When i run program in debug mode (open program and click RUN in toolbar it works) but if i run directly .exe (go to bin elease doubleclick .exe) it give error at loading point of that component. It says "Attempted to read or write protected memory. This is often an indication that other memory has been corrupted." An unhandled exception occurrs.
I will use the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) to transfer files from a client (laptop) to a shared folder on a server within our local network. The problem is a very slow network bandwith, if we transfer a file, the other clients canīt work, all requests to other clients (application) or viewing internet pages needs a long time.My idea is to use BITS in my tool to copy/transfer a file from client to server, also I hope to get more performance for the internet requests.
I work for a shop that maintains a fairly new app. The app still has its fair share of bugs, with numerous tickets coming in daily. The error information we're given with those tickets is not as useful as it might be because the application was compiled in Release mode, which I read is smaller and faster (makes sense).
Are there any ramifications to deploying a .NET application to production that was compiled in Debug mode? I would expect it would be a bit slower, but I've read the difference is nominal. This would assure us that when we get errors on tickets we have line number associated with those errors and this, of course, makes debugging much easier. major red flags that would prevent you from doing this? I'm tasked with researching the possibility.
We are creating a Who wants to be a millionaire style game in VB. Our server is pulling information such as questions and answers from a Access Database and sending them to the contestants (Clients). All transfer of information is directly from the server to each client. One of the "Life Lines" we want to use is "Ask a friend", where one client is able to Instant message another client for a short time to get help on the question.
This is applicable to C# and VB.Net. I am writing a console application, but one aspect of it I want to make representable in a GUI (that being downloads running, with progress bars). is it possible to write a console mode application that can also have a form in it that can be called from code inside the console component?
am writing the pgm using vb.net to get the file from reomte machine & store it on local machine using FTP . but am always getting an error like "remote machine returned an error :(550) file un avaliable (e.g , file not found, no access)
Dim reqFTP As FtpWebRequest Dim filepath As String Dim filename As String Dim filename1 As String
I wrote some code to share files throughout my network. The thing is that i don't understand how to determine how much the client has sent already and how much is left. I have posted my code below so you guys can see what I'm talking about.[code]...
I need to transfer files from one server to multiple cients (using the internet) in the fastest possible way in .NET . What are the different types of transfer protocols which can be used in .NET or VB.NET so that the files are sent in a very short time ? I have tried using FTP, but that is slow because it requires authentication, handshaking etc. What i want to know is the options which we have in .NET for sending files in the fastest possible way between a server and multiple clients.
I am writing a program in vb.net 2008 and need to be able to send and receive files using Zmodem through the a comport. I have search the net and have not found much to do with Zmodem in VB.net. I am already using the System.IO.Ports.SerialPort to send and receive commands through the comport but how to send or receive a file using the Zmodem protocol.
I want to transfer a file from one computer to another computer by giving the port number and IP address. There will be an other software waiting for the file to be received.
Basically I want to take My Client. Then for example Lets say in my client I have "A = 1" Then my 2nd file which has random data in it.So Client= My Client File = The File which I want in the end result
How could I Inject "A = TextBox1.Text" from Client to File.I heard it's called "End Of File" or something like that.
