I have recently started creating a basic game however i am having some trouble creating a time counter. Basically what i want is a counter which is a label displaying say "05:00" as in five minutes. Then when the level is started i want it to count down to zero and make my game over label visible.

I'm currently writing a countdown timer on vb 2005, with the following characteristics: When I press a button and the timer is running, it adds time to the counter, for example, if the time is 2:30 and I press a button, and the period to add is 1:10, the new time would be 4:40. The window is always on top of every other window, and is active even though it doesn't have focus. When the time's up and i press a key, in this case Esc, the application closes, otherwise, it just continues. [Code]

Basically to count up in seconds from 0 while that sub is executing. Would threading be the best way to do this or is there another way that I'm missing?

There excepion message I get is: The requested Performance Counter is not a custom counter, it has to be initialized as ReadOnly. I looked for a property to see if I can set it but couldn't find one.
Let's say I wanted to create 3 panels(Panel1, Panel2, Panel3) at runtime, and create a label(Panel1Label, Panel2Label, Panel3Label) inside each panel. This far I know how to do it.
The problem arises in that I don't know how to write a Sub for the event of clicking one of these run-time created Panels or Labels. When I try with

I'm reading about the WPF Navigation Services and I have a general question.At run-time I want to be able to parse an external XML file that has information about an UI (i.e. a series of screens) and then in the code-behind create a WPF Navigation service with multiple Pages. Is it possible to create a new WPF Page at run-time or do they have to be created in Visual Studio first?

View 11 RepliesI am creating a program for which will calculate the time taken for a user to make a number keystrokes. I want to start the timer running from the beginning of the first key stroke and end on the final keystroke. Each keystroke has been linked to a label which will change colour according to whether the key has been pressed. When the keystrokes have been finished I want to save this timespan in a field in a database. To test that the timer is running I have made a messagebox which will show the time taken however it is constantly showing zero and the label for the final keystroke is remaining in the keydown colour.

I've read numerous posts and threads about random number generation, but I havent' run across this.If I generate a bunch of random numbers, the results are radically different if I create a new Random generator for each number than if I use on Random generator for all the numbers. The results are much more consistent and evenly distributed if I use the same Random generator.I would have thought the opposite,because creating a new Random generator each time should reduce the number of random repetitions, if a different time slice is used to create the random number.[code]......

I'm trying to get a counter going for radiobutton 3 which will allow the user to add an extra child or adult for a set price any one know how I can do this.

In the following block of code always returns zero for the CPU usage. However, if I run it through Visual Studio in debugging mode, do a "Quick watch" on the variable "pcCPUCounter", add ".NextValue()" at the top, and tell it to reevaluate, that returns the varying percentage (eg, 5%, 71%, 16%, etc etc) as the processor utilization fluctuates.
Why would the code always print out zero, but the quick watch doesn't?

How to make my counter work. I keep feeling like I'm putting it, or maybe just part of it, in the wrong place so I've been moving it all over the place but haven't found anything that works yet. I'll paste my code below and it will be the code that seems to not stop when it reaches the end of my counter. Other ways I've tried it make it stop after one or two, depending on what I did to the code at them time.
