I've been using Shell() to launch an application, and Process.GetProcessById() to get the handle to that window, but I think I'm running into problems when passing the handle around to various functions. What is the best way to declare and pass windows handles so that they will be usable? After viewing the debug, it seems the Shell() and Process.GetProcessById() work fine. After I pass the handle off to the functions I need to use them in, the program starts spitting out garbage, and not doing what I want it to do. Short version of the proces
i want to know how to use vbscript to declare the function that handles the button onclick event or set a function that handles all button onlick event! both will do i.e) ihave a function
"sub xxx() end sub"
and i generate the buttons using vbscript. i can declare the button id, text without problem.
--dim obj as new button() obj.id="aaa" obj.text="ooo"
the above lines work just fine but when i write obj.onclick = "xxx", it doesn't work. by making settings on the function to handle all button onlick event is also acceptible for me!
I have some code designed to locate a specific process based off of its window text, gather the main handle, and then all of the child windows. However, I have run into one problem. I cannot seem to gather all the handles and their respective text. For example, when I test my program and do a handle count on the specific process, it tells me that there are more than 400 handles for this one process. How do I get the handle pointers for this process and also gather the text associated with these handles.I have included my source code for reference.
Code:Public Class Form1 Const GW_CHILD As Integer = 5 Const GW_HWNDNEXT As Integer = 2 Const WM_GETTEXT As Integer = &HD Const WM_GETTEXTLENGTH As Integer = &HE Const BM_SETSTATE As Integer = &HF3 Const WM_LBUTTONUP As Integer = &H202 Const WM_LBUTTONDOWN As Integer = &H201
I am trying to control an external application using visual basic. I have spy++ in order to get the windows handles of all the tool bars/buttons etc. Can someone refer me to some code/ tutorials on how i can control the application. I will need to perform mouse clicks (ex clicking file>open) and sending key strokes in that application.

I need to make program that gets handles of two opened windows that have Same Class and Title. Only difference between them is its positions. And, after I get handles I want to SetForegroundWindow to make windows active when I need to.
My problems are:
a How to get handles of thouse windows (is it possible to do it by WindowFromPoint, since I know positions)?
b How to make thouse handles global after they are determined or pass it to the next Sub?
I am making a TabStrip control to hold a number of tabs just like TabControl, but only with the tabs, no page. The control has a "Tabs Collection", which stores a list of "Tab" class. "Tab" is not inherited from Control, but each tab has its events. So when the user add a "Tab" in the "Tabs Collection", each "Tab" instance should have a (Name) identifier, which user can access it in the code, and with WithEvents keyword so users can add event handlers to each "Tab". The expected out come should similar to this:
Friend TabStrip1 As TabStrip Friend WithEvents t1 As Tab ... Me.TabStrip1.Tabs.Add(t1)
My problem is that is have 4 forms, 3 of these forms allow me to pass variables between them.. however one form the Booking form won't allow me to pass the txtTotal variable to the Confirmation Form.
All the other forms all me to do this, im not doing anything different i can see... im thinking that perhaps another part of the form is prohibiting me from passing that txtTotal to the Confirmatin form.[code]...

Can I pass parameters back and forth between a Windows Service and .NET program? For ex: I want to pass a compressed/encrypted byte paramater to the Windows Service, who then decompress/decrypt it and return back the decompressed/decrypted bytes.
FormA contain a textbox for user to enter their name and a button. When the user click the button, it will show the FormB which contain the CrystalReportViewer. I would like to to display the name which the user enter in the textbox on FormA on the CyrstalReportViewer.
The question is, how do I pass the textbox value to the Crystal Report Viewer The secondary question is how I am going to display the value on the Crystal Report Viewer. For you information, I am using VB.net.
I'm trying to program in a true object oriented manner and its causing me to re-learn a few things. Specifically, I'm having some trouble with error handling. I have all of my data access being performed by an adapter class in a seperate project. I can catch duplicate records without any problems, but I want to be able to send a message back to the user. Here's what I have so far:
I am creating a windows application which required Dynamic Connection String in the app starting (user need to provide db credentials through a form), After entering the connection credentials user redirected to new win form Everything is working fine but how can I pass my dynamic connection to another form.I tried to save it to App variable but I couldn't (I think its read only) Also I tried save it to registry but can't retrieve values. Is there any other option available ? like writing & retrieving ConString to a text file or XML.
Table2 should be updates from table based on the results... If all results is PASS then the table2 should be updated as pass... if any result is FAIL then the entire case_no should be updates a s fail..
I'm developing a web application that requires the user to log in using forms authentication. inside the webpage you need to download a desktop application that requires to login to the same system too. Is there a way to transfer the current logged credentials from the web application to the windows desktop application without need to login again?. Both applications shares a Login object from an vb.net interface.I tried to save the IP address in the Database but that don't work for me because the website needs to be accessed inside and/or outside of the company and the user cannot login twice in different machines.
This code was working consistently, but now...This code works on the first pass. Then second pass it just hangs on Code:Dim tcpClient As TcpClient = tcpListener.AcceptTcpClient() for about 2 minutesThen the code will fork for another pass, then fail.....
Just started VB programming this week and have found a wealth of information about what I'm trying to do. Problem is, some of it is more complete than others. Here's what I'm trying to do:In Form1 (my main form), I want to instantiate a class that contains a couple of properties (speed setpoint and position setpoint). When I click a button, I want to pass this data to Form2 and populate two textboxes on Form2 with the properties of this object. I want to manipulate the property values on Form2 and click an OK button which closes the dialog and returns the manipulated data, updating the property values of the object. Here's the algorithm I'm following:1) On Form1, instantiate the class2) On Form1's "Pass Data" button click event handler, instantiate a Form2 object and invoke the ShowDialog method, passing the object as a parameter.
3) On Form2, overload the ShowDialog method to accept the object as a parameter and modify the method so that it returns the manipulated class data.4) On Form2, in the ShowDialog method, populate the textboxes with the class data that was passed in.Here's where I get stuck. If I press the OK button on Form2 (DialogResult.OK), it returns me to Form1, but what hook do I have in Form1 to receive the manipulated class data that the ShowDialog method is returning? Here's an example of what I'm thinking about:
Code: Public Class Form1 Dim clsController1 As New MotionController
[code].....
I'm sure it's probably a very elementary question, but every explanation I've found seems to be incomplete.
Protected Sub Menu1_MenuItemClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.MenuEventArgs) Handles Menu1.MenuItemClick End Sub
In VB.net, we have the Handles keyword, I'm wondering if C# has anything comparable. Or do you have to manually wire all the methods to each control's event (in ASP.NET especially)?
The short program below runs just fine when it is the only item on a form. However, when I put it into the ItemInsertTemplate of a ListView control, I get the following message:
Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types
Line 30: Protected Sub btnDate_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnDate.Click
The error message identifies Line 30 as the problem.I get the same message for Sub clnEvent_SelectionChanged How do I correct this?
<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="clnControl.aspx.vb" Inherits="clnControl" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">
I'm migrating some code from VB.NET to C# (3.5).I find structurs like:
Public Event DataLoaded(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Protected Sub Mag_Button_Load_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles Mag_Button_Load.Click [..]
[code]....
What is the most streight-forward to translate such behavour in C#?
I am making a webbrowser and I am now trying to make the XButton1 go back. I have that working but I can not get it to work when the WebBrowser is active. My cursor has to be over the form (Me.MouseDown) I can't use WebBrowser.MouseDown because there is no browser until the application is opened. It is a a tabbed browser. The first browser is created like this.
Try Dim Tab As New System.Windows.Forms.TabPage Dim Browser As New System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser Browser.Dock = System.Windows.Forms.DockStyle.Fill
Using Visual Studio 2008 I am trying to create two subs using the same handles:
Private Sub checkwin(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click, Button2.Click, Button3.Click, Button4.Click, Button5.Click, Button6.Click, Button7.Click, Button8.Click, Button9.Click
[Code].....
As these both use the same handles one sub overwrites the other...... Both subs contain If statements. Do I need to create two different handles... and how do I do this so that the handles use the same buttons?
I have a simple program that was written to access data from multiple access tables. I have everything running perfectly however I did encounter an error with the exit button. I have removed the control from the window and replaced it with a exit button on the form. However I am getting an error reading: "Handles clause requires a WithEvents variable defined in the containing type or one of its base types."I am a little confused because I have this exact same line of code in two other programs and it runs fine. I have read up on this and I know that I need a line of code that reads something like " Friend WithEvents Button1 AsSystem.Windows.Forms.Button" However I am not real clear on what friend means here and where exactly the With Events goes in my code?
Code for exit button Private Sub btnExit_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnExit.Click'The problem is with this line of code'
Is there a way to simply the Handles statement? What if i want this sub to handle 20 textboxes do I have to list each textbox there? I already have a loop in my script so i can cycle through my textboxes ("TextBox" & i.text). is there anyway to use a variable or a function after handles to get all the names of the text boxes?
Private Sub textChange(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyPressEventArgs) Handles TextBox1.KeyPress,TextBox2.KeyPress, TextBox3.KeyPress, TextBox4.KeyPress, TextBox5.KeyPress
If I have two instances of the same form open, and one is on top of the other and I want to go to the one on the bottom, I have to click the form to bring it to the front.. I changed this so that if i click the panel(which represents the forms background) I have it bring it to the front.. But now I am having the issue where I click a control in that panel it wont bring it to the front.. So i know how to do this.. I can make a procedure handle all the controls onclick events by typing each controls name.click event
