i have developed a small application and was working fine on developing machine but when i installed it on another computer and double click on it to start it starts and after splash screen it gives don't send error [an error occurred] and getting closed.
View 3 RepliesI got a serious problem. Though I have made my program newly it shows error. I have used 1280,1024 animation only for first form then used 1280,1024 image for every form. Today I was checking then it was showing me error message for 19th & 20th form. If I use On Error Resume Next then it shows error for another form ; if I use same code there in the menu item I mean so that I can get rid of error when I click to show a form it shows another error. First error message is "InvalidOperationException was unhandeled An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is parameter is not valid." and second error is "OutofMemoryException was unhandled Exception of type 'System.OutOfMemoryException' was thrown". I have noticed it that it doesnt show error message for those form which have few labels and text boxes. It shows error message for those forms which have 1 menu bar, 2 picture boxes(one is 1280,1024 & another is 250,456), 2 group boxes, 40 labels, 3 combo boxes, 38 text boxes & three buttons. Please help me I need to get rid of this problem. Does it mean that I cant use unlimited control there in my form?
View 2 RepliesI am really confused! My program doesn't work if I don't have Visual Studio here in my PC. To test it I have uninstalled Visual Studio. But my program doesn't work though Flash Player is present there (I have used Flash animation in the first form).
To be more sure about it I have installed Flash. But it's not working! That means the Flash animation file (.swf) is not making a problem! It needs support from Visual Studio to start. Doesn't it mean that some files are not attached with a setup file as a result it needs Visual Studio to run? Let me tell you how I create a setup file of my program.

I'm doing a simple calculator program calculating Pennies, Nickels, Dimes and Quarters. I made a Try-Catch statement so that if the user enters letters into the text boxes, they get an error message. However, if the user leaves one field blank, the error message still pops up. What's the code so that I can get Visual Basic to recognize that an empty field is the same as 0 so that that message doesn't pop up? [Code]. I don't care about monitor modes, screen-savers, hard-drive spindown, etc (in fact, I'd prefer to leave those alone; I like it that it shuts the monitor off after a time period).Basically, I have an industrial program that needs to continually monitor a PCI card it uses for IO; and this activity alone isn't enough to convince Windows not to go into Sleep mode. I have checked the settings on both computers (display settings, font settings, desktop settings) I've made both computers identical and still get the same result.

So my class was recently given an assignment to make a Tic Tac Toe program with options of playing against the computer, or another person. I was able to 2 player game work, but I have run into a problem with the two player game. Whenever I start debugging and click on one of my buttons (these represent the 9 spaces on a tic tac toe board), the gameplay form freezes, and becomes uncontrollable. The close button on the form doesn't even work, I have to go back to VB and click stop debugging to close the unresponsive form. I checked my original two player game, which has a similar code, but that works just fine. VB does not show any error messages or give any warning.

View 2 RepliesWhen I run a certain project from within the IDE and an error would come up (just any error, like dividing by 0), it won't jump into the IDE showing me the line where the error occured, but the program is simply ended and I am back in the IDE!.With any other project that is not the case. I cannot work further on this project with this problem. Of course I did a PC restart, but that didn't solve it.
I got Visual Studio Professional 2008 with SP1.
My program working fine during debug stage but somehow after create installer & install the program, the error prompt out..[code]The interop.dao.dll is auto include when add the project output.Not sure when create the installer, there's warning prompt as pic attachment will affect the result or not. View 2 RepliesI'm trying to develop a windows application where i can get connected to remote server and look for process state going in remote server.We have many remote servers where automatic installation of software going on. We have an xml file(installstatus.xml) where it tells us at what stage the installation is (Example : Inprogress , Completed, Failed.)
So our aim is to develop a windows application where i can get connected to that servers and look for their installation status(may be we can use installstatus.xml to look for installation status). Every time i connect to a server, the server information should get stored in XML file(i want to create a xml file where all the servers list i connect to should get stored)
The UI at left side should will have list of servers i can connect to. When i get connected to server, at right side of UI, i want to display the status of installation (In progress, failed , completed).
I just got Windows 7, so I re-installed VB 2008 Express and have been met with some weird issues. One of which is when my program is running it used to break on a line where an error was occurring and tell what it was and let me fix it and continue. So I can see the error in the Immediate window but why is it not breaking on the line? It just continues loading the program. Is there a setting I'm missing?

When ever an app is running on the local machine, it has a Public Variable called MyUserName, which has the name of the user currently running the app.Is there a way to have an app running on the server side that could reach out to all the currently connected computers and 1: see if the app is running and 2: if it is running, retrieve that Public Variable, MyUserName? if this cant be done in this manner, is there some other way i can detect if a computer is running my app and if so, get the varialbe?

I'm using VB 2008 Express edition and I only get the current value of the time at the moment the application starts but not running as a clock.Is there anyway to do this?
