I am confused what will happen, when I disable a timer. Will it finish the process and then disable or will it immediately disable without completing process? for example

I want to run getMessage from somewhere else, so I need to disable timer during that time to be asured not to override anything and also before timer disable it should complete that function code.

I am working on vb.net 2.0 application which checks users credential against AD by sending LDAP configuration, user name, and password to DirectoryEntry method. LDAP is configured in web.config file. An AppScan result is showing that login request was not sent over SSL and recommends always using SSL and POST (body) parameters when sending sensitive information: DirectoryEntry("LDAPPath"), txtUserName, txtPassword)
How can I send this request against AD in a secure way?

Because I need to get all the characters of the alphabet OF AN ARBITRARY (variable) LANGUAGE, and that in the correct ordering sequence.
How can I do that without knowing the alphabet of every possible culture/language? System.Gobalization.Cultureinfo for example has information on date format, and a sorting method, and codepage info. But not info on the alphabet itselfs. Forthermore 'A' to 'Z' ordering iterating won't do, because German for example has characters such as ÄÖÜ, which are after 'Z' in the codepage numbering, but follow after aou when sorting.
Can I somehow use the codepages to get all the characters, and sort them somehow ? By 'all the characters' I mean all letters, including numbers, but not punctuation marks. And possibly only upper XOR lowercase.
I want to know how the code that suitable to draw the alphabet using a tracing..

View 2 Repliesvisual basic.net is case insensitive so it allows the coder to write without caring or remembering the casing of variables. it also relieves from the 'undeclared variable' errors if you use the variable in another case than the one used in declaration. The fact that its line termination is a line feed makes it even more readable unlike C# or c++ that need good care in the casing and contineous war with following up with the {}, matching them and figuring out which is for which.
my question is what are the advantages of c# over vb knowing that both get compiled to MSIL so there is almost no performance difference between the two languages?

I would like to click next to go to another image in a picturebox but I only have one picture box setup to have the new letter displayed in it. I have 26 images to display and need to know how to setup a loop to go through each image? It seems simple but I cannot figure out how to get to the third image, it only goes to the second image and stops. I also need to know how to setup the back button to display the prior image in a picture box.

Variable names in VB.NET are typically case insensitive. The GetProperty method on Type seems to be case sensitive when it comes to the property name. Is there a way to call this method "VB.NET style" and ignore case? Or am I SOL here and need to apply a C# mentality and worry about casing?
