Display The List Of The First Column From The Database

i have a windows form with controls that i have associated with a database. all controls display the correct value but i'm having problem with 1 of them. i have added a listbox (not even sure if that is the correct control for that) where i want to display the list of the first column from the database. i want the listbox to display all items so when i click on one item, the other controls will be updated with the information about that item. i know the connection to the DB works because all other controls have the values from the first item. only the listbox is empty.
I want to display distinct items from a column in a checked list box then make a selection or selections and perform commands based on info from a second column in that database the database is a small Access 2010 database in the application directory right now I added the data source and items dont display even though I selected that source in the checked list box properties
Dataset = MyDataSet1 CheckedListBox = MyListBox1
I tried it with a combo box and it shows items but includes duplicates, did I setup the datasource wrong?
I need to display an two-column editable grid not bound to a database. I took a look at ListView with Mode=Details, but it appears that only cells in the first column can be edited. I then took a look at DataGridView, and am having two issues:
1. When editing a cell, it adds a new row: [url] How can I prevent this?
2. I don't like the grey background and would like the grid to fill the whole space, right and below.
BTW, if you know of a good tutorial on using the DataGridView unbound, I'm interested. [Code]
Those who are looking for an example like this, might find it useful (or not). I know i was looking for one like this for over a week. Ok now, to make this codes work properly, you have to make a Database in Ms Access (I used MS Access 2007) . Create a table of two Columns, one name Debit and one name Credit. Both of the Columns Data Types must be Long Integers or you might get some conversion errors at run time. Now save the database in Access 2000-2003 Database format. And last of all, put the database in your projects DebugBin directory to avoid the database Connection Errors.
I have a database and I'm storing images in it along with a person's name, and other attributes. I've databound my listview with a stored procedure. I want to know how I can display an icon on a row depending on if the record for that row has a picture or not for the person...I'm not sure how to accomplish this however with the templates in asp.net

How to query a record in vb.net using combo or textbox via linq to sql like the search engine? Just like when you search in google or youtube, once you typed in the initial string on the textbox or combo box it will show a drop-down list. I tried to use it in my application using linq method but the problem is it would duplicate on the first string that you entered on the dropdown list if that record exist on your database after you press the space key. I used the code below which duplicates the records on the drop-down list when you type in your string after the space key.
I just want it to be like in any search engine that when you type in the string or your initial string, it will display on the drop-down list all the records from the database that contains the string you entered without duplication. In my case, I'm trying to query a name from my database. This is how it should work, For example, if you type an initial string in the textbox or combo box a named 'Mark', it should display all the names from the database containing 'Mark' into the drop-down list before it changes into its final string that you entered.

I'm currently working on a Capstone Point of Sales project. We're using a multi-column list box to pull up the item #, Item Name, Quantity(may be deleted) and Price. However, I haven't had much experience with a connect database in Visual Basic. how to pull and display the data from the database into the list box?
i am developing a software using microsoft visual studio basic 2010. I set up a connection string to my server and take the data from there. While looking in the dataset designer for a database table I am doing in visual basic 2008 I found a line for expressions under the property menu for a specific column. I need to know the code that I would put in this expression line so that this column adds up the numbers I input into three other columns and displays that number in the column. I have a label that is supposed to display a word for 5 seconds and then move down the list in a text file and display the next word.I'm oddly able to make it work in random mode, but not going down the list in order.. random would be ok if used words didn't come up again.

Ive created one database Sql Server Compact Edition 2005, with one table ("Cliente") I know that I can created my database good, but i have a problem saving information since three textbox, in my table(With columns "Nombre" "Apellido" "Cliente". In my form there is a button save ("Guardar"). When I do click in my button appear the next message : "The column cannot contain null values. [ Column name = Nombre,Table name = Cliente ] " and happen the same with apellido and Id_Cliente. And this happen becouse my code cant save the information....

Limited to using v2.0 of .Net framework (we use VB.net) due to environmental constraints on our servers.I've got an ASP.net webpage which pulls data from a webservice that performs checks on user accounts in active directory. Operators can check multiple accounts at one time using the web interface. The webservice returns a list(of AccountCheck) objects which themselves contain single properties like username, email address, and List(of AccountError) objects which contain multiple properties.[code]What I want to do is using some kind of repeater, create multiple panels or divs which contain labels showing the username, email etc, and a gridview which has the accounterror list bound to it to show all the errors. The users could be checking 2, 5, 7 accounts at once, and is dynamic.

I am using the following code for a combobox to display a series of codes depending upon the value entered in combobox1. This works fine except the column being displayed contains a 6 character field (A99999) and I would like to display only the last 5 numeric characters rather than the whole column. otherwise I shall have to add an additional field into the table which contains just the numeric part of the code.

I am making a combobox from my data source. Basically, This is a projects form and the user needs to select the the primary contact which is contrained by the customer id (GETbyCustomerID) set in another field. I have it working... mostly except the combobox only displays the contact ID which is completely useless to the user.
