I'm trying to display the population of a city, as soon as it has been chosen in the combobox.I put it on my formload, and it will always read the index of -1 since it hasnt had a chance to be chosen, how would I bypass this without a button being clicked?

Lately iv been experimenting with XML and VB.net so far so good but not I tried to get it to work with a dataveiw and im confused becasue iv never used one before and wondering why it populates the wrong places like so...like those numbers are spose to go into the ID box and I am spose to get the names in the Name box but it isnt...?

I've got a pretty big datagridview that I have to populate, and it's already (with not loads of data) taking quite a long time to populate. I can't imagine it's possible in my situation to bind the datagridview to the data I want to populate, but here is the situation.
I want the column headers along the top to be a bunch of users, which I have in one data table. I want the row headers along the side to be skill names, whihc I have in another data table, and the data in the middle is the score of each user for each skill in data table 3. Some users don't have a score, some do.
The way I have achieved this at present is to create the columns first using data table 1, then for each skill (data table 2), create an array of rows from data table 3 that match the skill, find the matching user (ColumnIndex) for each of these rows, and fill in the score.

I have searched the forums for an answer to this problem and while I have found simalar issuses, I have not found a solution that works for me. I have created a dataset and populated it. I know that this is true because I can view the information in the dataset in other ways such as using labels or textboxes. However to display the data in a organized and usable way I would like to display the information in a DataGridView control. I DO NOT need to be able to modify or add anything to the datagridview, JUST view the information there. I am not using any wizards to complete this and so I need to be able to complete everything programmaticly. I have written the code involved to the best of my understanding. It is giving error at first statement inside for loop saying Column Code Does not belong to Table Info.If i write simple query without use of right function and use dtCodeList.Rows(i).Item("Code").substring() to ignore first 5 characters, it works well.

So I've gotten a lot of help from this forum for this incredibly large, incredibly pointless application I'm making right now.I need to be able to have people type in, say, the name of a city. Then it will display a table of Name / phone number.So I need a table that can change for each "city name", and can scroll down. I know I'll most likely have to save it to two variables for each "city", I'm already set up to do that. ( Variable Name, Variable Phone Number) What I don't know is how to... print the data into a table, or make two text boxes that will scroll simultaneously.If there is a way to attach a scroll-bar to two text boxes, that would be my preferred method. I am developing an application for an emergency services organisation using VB 2008 that will enable users to select a map zone of a city centre and plot icons onto it, then save/export the layered map with icons as an image.My problem at the moment is that I am struggling developing the point where the user imports in the icon (for example, a flame icon where a fire started) and drags it around the map within the picture box to the required area.I want them to be able to select their desired icon from a series of commandbuttons and for the icon to 'appear' on the picturebox and be enabled to be dragged around and dropped as required. The organisation already has such a thing working in Microsoft Word (!) and that uses the ActiveDocument.Shape.LoadImage function on a pushbutton to import the icon and then it is placed on the map as required, but this is really unreliable for them.I dont even know if you can layer images onto an existin picturebox within an application in this way and then export as a flat image.

So for capturing data from the ship we suggested to create a WCF services which will be deployed in Ship. And the Application Running on the Data center will call the service and get the data and upload it to the data centre . I have a problem in timers, I want to display 2 forms each one after 3 and 5, how to do that? I mean when the first form appears, after 3 seconds another one will appear, then after 5 seconds the second will appear. I still have problem when the message box stops, it displays all the forms together. All I want is when the message box stops, then it display the first form then stop to display the second then stop to display the last. The first form must stay for 3 seconds on the screen, then after 3 seconds the second appears then after 5 seconds the last appears.
