how can i draw a free-shape (it means no particular shape or sides) and fill it in with the colors chosen from colordialog?
e.g. im gonna draw a rounded rectangle and i want to fill its insides with color red.

i am working on a virtual make-up software and the only thing i lack to totally finish it is the lipstick part. is there a way that i can trace the edges of the lips of the picture that im editing and fill its insides with colors from a colordialog that will serve as if it applied a lipstick. just like what they have on jkiwi that users will jut trace the edges of the lips and then the color will automatically be filled out and it can be changed by choosing a color in a dialogbox.

I created an application in VS2005 that draws text with a custom font and color. The images look great from my XP machine. But from another machine running Windows Vista, the graphics are messed up. I have an image saved in a bitmap (bmp) as a result of some graphic manipulation. Part of it is transparent. And I can save it to a file in bmp, jpg, png, tif with no problem. This is trivial to do...BUT... i want to do it in my own class, so that I can instantiate it numerous times passing it unique coordinates for each instantiation.
How do I do it? Can a class have its own "timer control" in it independent from the form? How would I draw a shape from a class?

Im using a dataset to display data in a datagrid from a sql server DB. One of the colums I have in my datagrid is "Status" the table adapter sql statment selects certain items based on whether there open or closed e.g "where = Open ". I want to remove this row entirely and instead of displaying open or closed for status column, display the open/ closed results in colour on the datagrid. Im really not sure how to go about this whether i need to do it in the table adapter or some sort of property. I presume i need to write a sql statement and selct the identity of the row where x= open etc , is there a way of assigning a colour in sql statement so it displays on my vb form ?

View 2 RepliesI need some code to draw a resizable, draggable rectangular cursor (or selection box) on a picturebox. I found some excellent code (albeit rather old) that does just that, but on a form rather than a picturebox. I have tried converting the code - basically moving things to the picturebox events (Paint, MouseDown, MouseMove etc). It nearly works but leaves a trail behind it when you move or resize the cursor. In other words, the selection rectangle is not being erased before being drawn in the new position.
Is there some fundamental difference between drawing graphics on a form and drawing on a picturebox that would cause this behaviour? Something like, when you invalidate a form and cause a redraw it erases what you did last? If not, then I just need to dig a bit further and work out how the cursor is being erased from the previous position.

Say I have 3 Buttons, labelled: Unit 1, Unit 2 and Unit 3. When I click on any button I want a drawing of that unit to appear on screen at a pre-specified starting point. Thereafter when I press any other one of the buttons the unit drawings appear alongside each other in a line. So I could end up with:
