End Of A Timer To Be Displayed Every 2 Seconds A Series Of Images?
Jan 11, 2012
I must have that at the end of a timer to be displayed every 2 seconds a series of images one after the other why using Threading.Thread.Sleep (2000)does not make me see the images and text on the label does not load?
Quick question - if I have a timer set to 5000 (5 seconds) and the code in the timer takes longer than 5 seconds to run because of sql stuff, will the timer wait until the code is done till it fires again?
I am using a stop watch to get the elapsed minutes and seconds which will then be displayed to user. How to I go about getting the elapsed time in the following format: 00:00
There is an IP web camera that I wrote a .NET class for sometime ago. It's basically a Timer implementation that pings a snapshot CGI script from the camera every five seconds. The camera itself is very rudamentary; it does not have any sort of API for me to work with, the only thing I can do programmatically (remotely) is invoke this script. The script returns a 640x480 JPEG image. Simple.
Now what I need to be able to do is take a days worth of these images, and create a "time lapse" AVI video stream out of it that will eventually be embedded into a web page. How can I do this with VB.NET?
I am using Visual Basic 2008 for a Windows Form application. I have a PictureBox on the form that I need to display a series of 12 JPG files, one every four seconds. For the life of me, I cannot seem to figure out how to get the Timer control and its Click event to work.
In pseudo code, I need something as simple as the following:
1. show JPG #1 in picture box
2. 4 second delay
3. show JPG #2 in picture box
4. 4 second delay
etc.
I have a Timer on the Form set with Interval = 4000. I have a PictureBox. I have all the images in the Project. I am embarrassed to say that I have spent 4-5 hours searching the Web for sample code or something helpful, but am still stuck.
All the elements are there. It's just a matter of understanding how to pause the image displayed in the picturebox for 4 seconds before moving onto the next image in the series.
I`m trying to figure out how to use a timer to do something for a couple of seconds. Let`s say i want to prompt a message for 5 sec and after to disappear it.Or On a button`s click to appear an image and after 3 sec to disappear it. How i`m i going to do it?
i have added a timer to my form but i have no idea at all on how to use it.[code]I need to add a timer or something betwwen the 2 sendkeys for 2 seconds..
I have used couple of images on various button and label controls. I imported them by "Add Resources" window from project properties window.Everything is quite well at design time. But at runtime, no image is shown on those controls. I tried it from properties window. Then also tried from runtime by using "Button1.image=My.Resources.ImageName". But all are in vein.I did not change that application directory.
I have successfully set up a timer in visual basic, see the code below. My timer uses case statements and at specific case/time it calls a function, 'ShuttleA'. 'ShuttleA' function, is a function that 'getskeystate', which inturn from the user interface tallies a response in a text box. My problem is that the program runs fine when calling the function at eg; at 10 seconds, case 10. But I want to be able to call the function e.g., at 8 seconds to 11 seconds. Or create a tolerance of e.g., 1 second either side of e.g., 10.

I am working on an application that ties into a SQL database on the back end. Currently the main form contains a series of combo boxes (Graph type, data format, location, and customer), two date pickers, and a button to launch the selections in a new form. Everything works just fine except there are a couple of things I can't seem to accomplish.
Example Data:
[CODE]...........
Case Select (with commented out lines for variations attempted):
[CODE]..........
1) I would like to be able to use some sort of case statement to color the bars in my chart based on value. I have tried approaching this in a couple of different ways but neither of the options seem to work. First, I tried this (the If Not is used because depending on what values are passed to the stored procedure in SQL, different columns will be returned):
[CODE]..........
Only one series is created with this method, so I can see how/why a Select Case would set all bars the same color. I have also tried creating a series for each row in the returned dataset but it results in 22 bars of different colors, for each of the rows (484 bars):
[CODE]..........
So is there any way to modify the second set of code there to only select the value from the "Percent TMHB" cell that corresponds with Row(i), rather than ALL values from the "Percent TMHB" column for EACH Row(i)?
2) Since I am drawing/creating these graphs in a new window, is there any way to also create a new timer on the "newFrm" and have the tick refresh the data? I've struggled with this but I feel like it should be easy. Say someone chooses a "TMHB", "Percentage", "Chicago", "All" (Graph type, data format, location, customer) and launches the graph, which opens in a new window, then they want to do "TMHB", "Percentage", "LA", "All" and have both windows up, refreshing automatically throughout the day. Can I somehow store the SelectCommand.Parameters values in the new form/timer so that it will query the database again every 5 minutes?
Example code for the StoredProcedure and creating the new form:
If combo_GraphType.SelectedItem = "TMHB" Then Dim newFrm As New Form Dim newChart As New Chart
I have the Timer set at 2 seconds for now. It pulls the data in fine, sets the text for the label fine. But it only shows the last row of data and does not rotate through the rows.

For a school project I need to make a timer with a bell sound that sounds every 60 seconds in VB, I cannot work out how to make the bell sound on the 60th second, I am not getting any errors in the VB console, so I assume that I am just using the wrong code or it is in the wrong place.
Public Class OSCETimerControl
Dim t As Integer Dim s As Integer Dim a As Integer
[CODE]..........
There are actually 3 text boxes (not yet coded the final one) one for minutes, one for seconds and the final one is for the bell sound which will not be visible.
I have got a serious problem and I cant solve it. Images on my form are not displayed during debugging. When I build the application, there is no problem. But in debug mode no images are displayed. What can I do about it?
I have been asked by a friend to make a basic timer that counts down from 3 mins and 1 mins intervals but at the end of it i have a Critical message box pop up with the sound to alert him that the time is up.i have set it so that once ok on the msg box is pressed the timer restarts..I am Just wondering if there is a way to just make sound for x seconds then the timer restarts without any button pressing?[code]
I am trying to make a program in visual basic 2010 where the user enters hours minutes and seconds into text boxes and then the program will count down from that until its equal to 0 when a msgbox appears and says its finished. I was converting hour entered, minutes entered, and seconds entered all into seconds and then having a timer subtract 1 from that until its equal to 0. But the problem I'm having is that I want to display the hours, minutes and seconds left in a label to the user in a format of: "hours: 0 minutes: 23 seconds :42" but how to display it in this format.
I have three sets of labels, lbl_seconds, lbl_minutes and lbl_hours. These labels have the default value of 00:00 and I want the timer to change that for each label. I have googled this but I cannot seem to find any good info on it. Do I need three separate timers? I have also noticed that the timers have their own tick event handler. I guess it's in this that I need to change the value of the label. But I cannot figure out how to do just that.
I have 4 textboxes Hours, Minutes,Seconds,Milliseconds. When textboxes values are set the count down begins. So far everything works except the milliseconds
Timer1.Tick Timer1.interval = 100 Private Sub Timer1_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Timer1.Tick Dim Vals3(3)
From this aspcode.net page at the bottom (under attachments) you can download the project. For some reason when I run it the Close Button and the Next and Previous Buttons don't work. Well I mean it does work but it does not show the actual images. Can anyone figure it out? It should be easy but I just cant get it to work.
I want to convert seconds such as 254565443 seconds to hours, minutes, and seconds and thought if I could remove the decimal and the numbers behind it and not change the number in front of the decimal then it would work.
