And it generates no output If I double click on the command file it generates output
how to get rid of this prompt for three files I'm executing through my VB code? Here is the code that is calling the three files to run after they've been copied locally to the workstation.[code]
the application plays a sound file from using a windows media player control on the form. it seems silly to me that you need to have a hidden visual control on a form rather than just using code, but that's another gripe.
previously, the code (in the form module) was :
Private Sub Something() Call PlayMusic("filepath/filename.mp3") End Sub
I am using Visual Basic 2008 and currently having a coding problems. I have coded a simple game in which I have energy that I can upgrade by 1 point on each click of a button. And so, when i start my program, it always loops this same coding without the need of another click on the button. It keeps looping until it gets to 999 then it stops sending the messagebox and lets me continue using my program. This is an (.exe) execution file programming.
Coding :
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Private Sub Button2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button2.Click Dim dir As New DirectoryInfo(txtDir.Text) Dim file() As FileInfo = dir.GetFiles("*.*")[code]......
I have seen some application which creates tabs in explorer like we have in browsers I wonder how they are able to make changes in programs like these. I am currently working on Windows 7 64 bit and I too want to learn how to modify explorer.exe according to my neeed.
I have the following problem: I have a client who will upload an Excel file online. This Excel file will need to be imported to a database table, which I can do using the openrowset command. Once it has been imported, I can display the data using a GridView.
Now, I have referred [URL], but in both of them, the upload folder (destination) is hardcoded. How can I change this to reflect the file's destination to be on the server? And, once this is done, how can I then use openrowset to extract the contents of the Excel fie?
Additionally, how can I emulate the entire process on my machine before it is deployed?
I am trying to build a simple project but I am about to lose my mind over it. The following is my code, I have tried to add the Microsoft Scripting Library more times than I can think but every time it shows FileSystemObject as undefined.[code]

I have a windows form app. project and when I start the debugger my form with datagridviews works fine, but when I publish the application the exe file does not work. When I double click the exe file, I get two small empty windows and the second one has a ok button on it, when I click it both windows disappear. I work with vista 64 bit and I have made another small editform which works fine.
I've read about revising the File Version (and Assembly Version) to ensure that an updated file does replace an older/previous file when a WI update installation is carried out, but I don't understand the four-part construction of the File Version ... and my re-versioned files sometimes refuse to transfer to the target computer.
For example, a .exe I have recently updated had it's File Version set to 1.0.0.0 (it is resident now in my Program Files (x86)/MyApplication folder) and File Date 23/03/2012, but even now with the File Version set to 2.0.0.10 and a File Date of 24/03/2012 when I use WI to install the new program over the original the 1.0.0.0 file remains in place and the new 2.0.0.10 file does not get installed instead.
I have a function that I use to copy files from one location to another.I want to incorporate a status bar to illustrate the progress of copy.I am assuming that I need to put additional logic after my File.Copy stmt below. [code]

Public Sub CopyFiles(ByVal sourcePath As String, ByVal DestinationPath As String, ByVal fName As String) If (Directory.Exists(sourcePath)) Then
Shell(Application.StartupPath & "myfile.txt", vbMaximized Focus)The code above shows the error that the file does not exist. But it exists. I tried the same code for an .exe file it works great.!
According to MSDN, the Icon.ExtractAssociatedIcon method cannot accept a UNC pathname, which I think is totally absurd. Does anyone know of a work-around to extract the icon of a file on a network?
For a school program, I was assigned to use a .dat file to store and edit information while using VB to be it's front end( to appear in a listbox). I was also given what field length to use per field. I never worked with .dat files, so I have a few questions (all the google-ing Ive done say the same thing: every .dat file is different so you can't play around with them):
I have a windows project completed and am using an MDI with a help menu.So now I'm working with a click once deployment. When the user clicks help, it should load an .HTM file, but instead, when installed on the client it gets a "page cannot be displayed error".
I created the file in word. Saved as an .HTM. along with it came the images folder. I placed it in the bin/debug folder. I've made sure all the images and the .HTM files are set to Build Action = content and Copy Always. These files are copied out to the deployment website. It shows as "required(auto)" under appication settings, publish. Everything else in the deployment works nicely, including Crystal Reports and Powerpacks. So what is going wrong with this? The help is a windows form with a browser control on it and the following code.Note that the Catch on the Try doesnt kick in either on the client.
Private Sub Help_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load 'change mouse pointer to hourglass Cursor.Current = Cursors.WaitCursor
I've tried to run a program that requires the Flash.ocx file to write a registry. Without the file I get a database creation error and the program closes after I close the error. The suggestion [URl].. does not work as I have tried to do this twice now as the solution center suggests.
I am a newbie trying to make a application but i am having difficulties. No matter what i do i cannot get the open file dialog and the one fo saving to work. I just want them to open and save ones a web browser usually can do. I have tried so much but can't figure out what to change when i look at other people's stuff on this and other sites.
I am using Visual Basic .Net 2005. While using /win32icon as a compiler option, it gives an error that the icon file can't be found. I found out that it works in C# but gives error in VB.
I found that when group by multiple values does not work well with VB.NET, but it works well with C# ,here are my code, is there something wrong with my VB.NET Code? Here is my VB.NET code:
My app is designed to work on XP & Vista but I get an error on Vista but not XP When I want to kill/delete or move a file from an external drive I get an external error message System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path is denied.
full error text: ************** Exception Text ************** System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path is denied. at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError(Int32 errorCode, String maybeFullPath)
I have been able to use my.resources perfectly, no problems at all. all of a sudden, i try to use resource (i have done EVERYTHING EXACTLY the same as the way i have been using for the last 1 and a half years) and i get an error saying the file does not exist. its there, i only need to type my.resources.s and it already selected the resource i want. it says the file doesn't exist. why? also, the resource is called settings.dat. could that be the problem, don't think it is. i even tried a picture, but it still says the file doesn't exist.
It says: Could not find file 'C:Users[username removed]DocumentsVisual Studio 2008ProjectsdiskSaverdiskSaverinDebugSystem.Byte[]'.
I worked out a way around it (i worked out how to use my.settings in stead), but i haven't worked out why my.resources won't work.
I run the same exe file on another computer, but it gives error. The application works on my pc, but does not work on user's pc.I try to compile the app in other development machine and it is work well, the problem is my app doesn't work on user's pc.
Could not load file or assembly 'CrystalDecision.Shared, Version=10.5.3700.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=692fbea5521e1304' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I have built a recursive file system crawler that amasses file system data from a file share. I use the FileInfo object to get my metrics, however, I am finding that in especially deep file structs, that the ol' 260 character MAX_PATH MS bug crops up ':8-0:'. This puts me in my angry place, since I do not seem to be able to get around it no matter what kind of programmatic tom-foolery I try.
So far, I have tried:- converting to 8.3 format --> no good path + filename STILL is > 260 (believe it or not) - tried to go with a Straight low-level API approach
What I have found is some pretty Sketchy information regarding VB implementation of the kernel32 api's in this regard (just try & find a createfile port for vb.net, I couldnt)
Anyway, I guess I was hoping that someone else has run into this pain, and knows how to make a surefire way to get a file's information (size, dates esp), regardless of how long and painful the path may in fact be...
I have an application that requires data be entered, and after entering, a button is clicked to process that data. Clicking the button works just as it should--the data is processed properly. In constructing a test module, I provide a set of data values, followed by:
btnWhatever.PerformClick()
Nothing happens. I have used this syntax for years, and it has always worked flawlessly. I have triple checked everything else and isolated the problem to the failure of the PerformClick(). The PerformClick() is in a test subroutine that does nothing but fill textboxes and labels with default data, then calls the PerformClick() on the button to begin processing. Again, the button works fine, the data is entered as it should be, but the PerformClick() does not fire the click event.
I have a form that works on my local Machine I created into. I have Office 2007 on this machine. I created the Form with the Excel 12 Reference. I move the Entire conetence of the Project folder to my work computer. Which has Office 2003. Do I need to recreate the form with the Excel 11 reference. I could not get the form to work on work computer. IT has a com error. I am acessing the EXE for the debug folder w/in the Bin Folder.
