Now I want that all the rows should be columns and columns should be rows.I have 2 options: Either 1 I can directly convert grid to columns and display it, or 2 I can convert the GridView to html and then write loops to convert. View 1 RepliesFollowing is the code which gets xml data from web service and then dataset reads using ReadXml method. This Xml has ID and MyDate tags for each table row (so table(0) will have ID and MyDate columns) and this Xml data does not have schema associated with it. When page is loaded first time, it sorts by ID in asc order. It was working until ID was 999. When next ID came as 1000, even in ID asc, 1000 is showing before 999 in datagrid.
I wanted to confirm that when dataset is loaded using ReadXml, all the columns in its table are treated as string even they are numbers or dates and that's why in ID asc order 1000 is coming before 999.
Also, MyDate tag has date in format "01/31/2011" (mm/dd/yyyy) and it seems that sorting is wroking fine for date. Would sorting by date always work even when dataset table MyDate column is of type string (assuming that my above statement is correct)? Are my two above assumptions correct?

How can i do a workaround for this? I two databases(.sdf). Database A has table A1 Database B has table A2 Table A1 is an exact duplicate of A2 minus 3 columns My dataset(.xsd) is based off of tableA2 in Database B. I can fill all my tableadapters in Database A and all info in table A1 using the dataset. My problem lies when I do TableAdapter.Update() for Table A1(Since the dataset has the 3 missing fields) it tries to update table A1 with info that isn't there and I get an error. How can I update table A1 and ignore the 3 missing columns using the single dataset? Or is TableAdapter.Update() designed to Update the Database with all columns found in the dataset ?

View 5 RepliesI have a gridview where each columns have two template fields. One is ItemTemplate and another is EditItemTemplate. Now in EditItemTemplate it will show some textboxes where i can perform necessary editing. I can easily fetch data from each cell by using the following code-

But its getting the exception object reference is not set to an instance of object. This is probably happening because the above code should be used in a method like RowDataBound when a row is instantiated. I have multiple datasets that I would like to combine into one. There is a common ID field that can be associated to each row. Calling Merge on the dataset will add additional rows to the dataset, but I would like to combine the additional columns. There are too many fields to do this in one query and therefore would make it unmanageable. Each individual query would be able to handle ordering to ensure the data is placed in the correct row.
For Example lets say I have two queries resulting in two datasets:
SELECT ID, colA, colB
SELECT colC, colD
The resulting dataset would look like
ID colA colB colC colD
1 a b c d
2 e f g h

My problem is with the tickets table, I have listed the user that created the ticket, the tech who will solve the ticket and a user that over sees the ticket. All three users reference the users table. So how do I can I query the tickets table and get all three users that reference the same table storing the users?

I have a gallery which holds a large number of thumbnail images and I want to show 6 at a time.
I have this working using the code below, but I can not get the images to display as 2 rows of 3 - it shows as 6 rows of 1.
I can get the desired result by using a datalist but that stops the pageindex function from working.
I'm sure there's an easy solution but I can't figure it out.

Rather than running numerous queries in Access I am trying to write a front end for a DB2 database. The Access database is getting to a size that it is causing Access 2007 to have reliability issues and frequent compacting is required. I have created the Dataset, the Table Adaptors, and the Connection String already, but when I put in a bit of code in to fill the Table Adaptors the remote connection I have to work is going crazy (chewed up about 180MB before I realised it was pulling data from work).
Before I started the project I copied the .accdb to my local PC HDD and I pointed the connection string to it, but it still looks like it is trying to pull data from the work network. If it was a small database I wouldnt be concerned but it is pulling major data every time I run it. I have only 2 out of the 4 Table Adaptors running and it didnt fill them even after 10 minutes.
Here is the code I was trying to run... Server name has been substituted for Server for obvious work reasons.
Because the tables are so large I was looking for a way to pull only the columns I need to from the tables, I tried adding .SOFT_ID to the first line of code but the TA spat the dummy message below...
