Filter Data On 1 Form From Selected Cell On Another Form?

I have one form with a datagrid that displays a list of 'contacts' with just the minimal basic info in the datagrid.I have another form that displays ALL the 'contacts' info.I want to double-click on any cell in the datagrid and have the other form load and show ONLY the data for that selected contact on the datagrid form.I have no idea where to start but I have at least already figured out how to show only a select set of contacts by setting a filter on the contactstableadapter to "statusid = 4" (An agent).

i have my database table in textbox i want to add a comment button when they click on that it should open a new form with another textbox from the same table.my problem is i cannot get it to load the selected rows comment colum.
My table is containing for example, username, password, name, surname and comment
on form1 i have username, password, name and surname with a button that should open form2 with comment with multilines.so if i have selected a username for example test and i click on comment i want to add data to the username test.

I'm new to Visual Basic 2010, I programmed in VB a long time ago. getting back into it. I have a SQL 2008 database and I want to use Visual Basic 2010. what I want to do is bring up a form with a group of products for my company. Based on the users selection they will put a check mark next to the product and then submit the query/data filter/ selection.passing that information to another screen with the details of all the sales for that item.

In my datagridview there are two dependent columns, one is category and the other is items. So I want to filter my item column list as per selected category. But the problem is that when I change the category wise data to datasource of items combobox, previous selected items names disappear because previous items is not in current datasource.

i would like to take a selected aircraft type from a previous form and put it into the form i am working on at the moment, but i want to edit the string so it only has 4 characters.I thought the above line would do it but apparently not. the error is to do with the length.An example:the model in 'the other' combobox is A330-200/-300 and i would like to put A330 into the new combobox cmbType in the above code.

I have a datagridView,which is filled with the Click of the Button.My Issue is i can see the data only when i select a row.When no row is selected by mouse then its just showing blank cell,whereas data is actually there in the datagridView.I know its something with the color setting from the DatagridView Properties.I have tried and corrected all the cell Style properties related with that DatagridView.And set the Cell Style properties exactly the same as of my other datagridview,which is working fine.

I am doing a project in window application (VB 2008) where I have 2 forms (form1 & form2) in form1 I place a empty DGV and a button, and in form2 i placed another DGV which i connects to MS access DB, in form2 DGV I add a checkbox column and i need to do is if i click the button in form1 it should show the form2 DGV (till this i got it) and when i checked the rows in form2 DGV the checked rows should shown in form1 DGV. and i also want to add the sum in bottom.

I have a table Called inventory, one of the columns is a checkbox based column called saved where it stores the checked state as the value 1 on the database. On a related form when i load it i want the datagridview to filter to only show the rows where saved has the value of 1.

I am currently developing a program that was first built within access using VBA.My program is a search form connected to an access database, which is itself linked to a dbf database.I managed the code from access to a new program, but I am stuck with one line of code;How can I open a form (which shows the filtered data) using a filter (a string built with the input boxes).
The code in vba is:
DoCmd.OpenForm "frm", , , Left(strWhere, lngLen), acFormReadOnly
where FRM = the form showing the data
strwhere = SQL string
lnglen = number of characters in strwhere.
How can I do the same in a Visual Studio 8 environment (Visual Basic -idontknowwhat-) ?

In a dialog form I've two date pickers, Date1 and Date2. At load I set the two dates to:
Me.Date1.Value = DateTime.Now.AddDays(-90)
Me.Date2.Value = DateTime.Today
And the sql filter is set to:
Where shipDate BETWEEN '" & Me.Date1.Value & "' and '" & Me.Date2.Value & "'
When I execute the project the two dates are shown fine but if I change Date1 to say 01/03/2010 (European format) and leave Date2 as per defect, the range of data returned is missing the information from 01/03/2010, meaning the data starts painting from 02/03/2010. If I select 28/02/2010 for Date1 then the returned data is from 01/03/2010 to Date2. Somehow, one day is subtracted from Date1. If I comment out Date1, then 01/03/2010 is recognized. What is wrong with Me.Date1.Value = DateTime.Now.AddDays(-90)?

I have 2 problem, on my "addnew" form i need to filter the datagridview using the datetimepicker(Date) and to sort the "EventDate" column ascending(that column is set as text on my MDB that's why it is sorted alphabetically not by month) and 1 problem on my "em" form when i click on the button("View this Event" ) or double click the selected row in the datagrid the "addnew" form will showup with the selected row in datagridview.
And lastly on the "home" form load when there is a event saved today a msgbox will appear(you have event saved today, do you want to view them) if yes "addnew" form will showup with the selected event in the datagridview.

how to turn off the filter that is on the Add Reference form ? Its on the .Net tab, and then it says "Filtered to: .Net Framework 4 Client Profile". So all my references are not filtered alphabetically. Really annoying.

how do you filter/search a numeric number from your form feilds in vb.net. i have filtered a feild with textbox containing names(first name) but this time i would like to search/find what is containing in a numeric textfiled which is phone number textfield.A phone number is numeric and it might contain both characters and numbers. for example, one can write +44 7961400000. In textfield for fname, i have the following:

I have a main form with datagridview containing a list of contacts:

After saving, I get the correct message ("Saved"), and the DataGridView in the first form gets updated in real time.
But... when I take look at the data (or close and reopen the forms) the data in the database (SQL server) have not changed! What happens!

How do i load the Main form of a WPF so that a seperate thread goes and gets data from the database while the form is in an apartmentstate? (drag-able / movable) I Know this is possible with opening a new window from your main form like this :

I've tried putting MyBase.ShowDialog() and .Show() and .9000+ other things The only benefit I've got out of using a seperate thread to load from the databse is i can see the screen right away (as oppose to it being a transparent box until it loads) but i cannot move it around or minimize it?is there any way to make it Movable while it loads?

I have a Windows form I would like to save the Ovals I created while running the form for use and review later I have been trying the SaveFileDialog but have not figured how to get my data out to the file that is created. I have read about using datatable but there again I'm working with that but need to find how to load all my Oval parameters into the table so I can recreate the current look of the form.

I was using 2 forms, the first one has general data capture and the second one is a calendar form. On Form1 I have mulitple windows controls. A Textb ox and beside a Calendar button. When I click on a Calendar Command button, it should open calendar form and once the user selects the date, the date should be placed in the text box on the form1. Identical to this on Form1 I need multiple textboxes that needs date to be captured.I cannot use a global variable for this as I need to validate mulitple text boxes. To explain this, I have a Transaction Date and Date Received. I need to validate whether Transaction date is prior Date Received or not? I dont want to use several global variables b'coz I might need multiple validations as above. Please help me on this.

Im new to VB programing and Im using VB 2008 Express. I have set up two forms (Main and Edit) and I have a datagrid set up on each form. I can make changes to he DB on the edit form, close it, and the main form is updated with the new info. All is well except that Im also trying to enter data directly into the cells on the DataGrid on the main form and I cant. I can select the cell and it highlights it but it wont accept any characters.

I am using this code at the last line of my form load. I want the position 5,5 to have the cursor set at it. It works when then datagrid is already open:[code]However, when I use it on the form load, you can see that it was selected on the datagrid, but the cursor is set at textbox1...which happens to have the first tab order on the form, even though I have acceptstabs off. Can anyone tell me why this would happen? Basically, it is setting the cursor at the cell I want, but after the form loads, it jumps to textbox1 and highlights the text.

I have a main form with a DataGridView populated from an Access Table.So far so good.When the user clicks on a row a small form pops up and the the user can enter/edit for 2 specific fields .After that hitting the save button an update query ensures that the data are written back.Because the base table is big i don't want to refresh the dataset (at least i don't want to have the user wait for a good amount of time for a simple change.......this is acceptable only when the application is starting) and i thought given the fact that the changed data are just a few words to "edit" the datagridview cell i want so that it displays the changes.BUT i can't do that.As soon as the 2nd form where the user enters the details the DGV from the main form is unaccessible.When i try to get access to it i have a nice message "Reference to a non-shared member requires an object reference."I tried to make a object reference but nothing ...

The form opens a simple form to accept a password if a name is selected from a dropdown. The form is opened modally from the validating event. If I select an item, fill in the password, close the modal form , it will not let the parent form close depending on how I exit the dropdown. When I look at the closing event cancel is set to true implying that the control still thinks it needs vaidating.
It works if i leave the dropdown cell in focus when I hit close.
If I click (even just once so the dropdown still is highlighted but just closed) on another cell in the grid the form will not close. It corrects itself if I repeats the first method.
Even worse if I press enter twice it crashes without going through any of my code when the grid tries to do its own commit edit on the editableControl but seems to have a wrong reference as it tries to use the DataGridViewComboBox as the editablecontrol and gets a cannot cast exception
Updated as I have found the cause.
The pop up password form is a home brewed modal form by disabling all open forms but leaves some menu items active.(mdi is used). It is the disable form that causes the issue. Without that it always works. So it seems the grid cant handle being disabled while changing cells.
A solution that works is to use ShowDialog but that changes the systems behaviour so I may not be allowed to do that.
