The idea is to create a combobox that holds 2 columns - a primary key value and a unique value such as a [Company Name] or a [Student Name]. The user would then find the appropriate record within the combobox and the code behind the combobox control would then perform a .findfirst method that would NOT filter out all other records, but would rather use selectedvalue primary key column value to move to the selected record.
I am currently getting into VS 2010 & revisiting VB having been programing in ACCESS & VBA for years. In the Access/VBA environment it is very common to have to find a given record on a given form using this method, but it would appear to be poorly documented if in fact not commonly used in the VB.NET/VS community.

Every line in the text file ends with "a)" or with "g)".
Now I just want to make 3 radio buttons:

- one that will allow the download in the combobox of both (I already know how to do).
How can I do so?

Jun 17, 2011I am new to vb.net and I am using visual studio 2010. I have two comboboxes on a form, each combobox is set to DropDownList so that a list of items can show in the combobox, but no text is allowed to be entered.
For combobox A, if user chooses item 1, the list of combobox B should be updated accordingly. I think this is quite common on a lot of applications. But I do not know to implement it. I even do not know the keyword to search for the relevant property or event handler.

I have programatically added the list values for the box to match all the possible values that could be pulled from the DB. The user can update these values and update the db entry.I would like to be able to display any entries from the db, however, there is one value on the list that I don't want the user to be able to change the combobox's value to. I'm hoping there is some way to to 'hide' or '.visible=false' for just this one item when the list drops down so the user can't select that value.The box sits in a datagridview. I realize I could use the 'cellbeginedit' & 'cellendedit' events to prevent this action, but I consider that to be a last resort, as I think not showing it on dropdown is preferable code-wise.
