VS 2010 Audio Playback On Multiple Devices?
Jan 9, 2012What I need is an application that can have several audio files open up, which in turn can be routed to any of the audio output devices (e.g. external audio card channels). See the attached image for an illustration.

Which selects a random number 0 - 26 and selects the corresponding song.
And a straight play feature:

All of these activated by a button(separate for each)
When I click one, it makes the program stop responding. I'm pretty sure it is the .WaitToComplete mode, but I can't find a way to make it continuously play without it. If you can find my error. Also if you could tell me a way to make the shuffle never play the same song twice, that would be awesome as well.

Apr 21, 2011I used the code provided in the link below to implement the recognition of midi devices in my[URL]..I have an electronic keyboard, which is connected to a sound card from M-Audio (Fast Track Pro).This sound card is connected to the PC.By running the program, I have the option of selecting this sound card M-Audio for the audio device, and thus automatically have access to the keyboard that is connected to it.
Well, almost everything is working perfectly.The only error that is occurring is when I close my application.Actually my application ends up not actually closing, because it just hangs there in task manager.And it takes a long time (10 minutes), until the process ends.

Feb 6, 2009I have a small embedded web server and to setup its network parameters I use a serial port, however this is giving me a lot of trouble due to USB to serial adapters (in some computers work in other doesn't).
However the other day I saw that Buffalo has a little program to find their NAS boxes (or network drives) when you don't know their IP address or got the wrong one so I assume they do it by looking for mac addresses.Is there any way of doing this with VB 2005 or higher? Basically I don't know the IP of the embedded server so I need to find it on a network, how do I find it?
a) I could do a general IP scan assuming it is on the same subnet than the host computer
b) if it has a different subnet... a general IP scan is not going to work, is it?

Feb 1, 2011I've created an attribute, similar to the ToolboxBitmapAttribute, that allows you to associate an Icon or Image to a class.
To associate an image, the resource file base name, a type (to find the assembly), and the name of the resource are passed to the attribute constructor. I then use the ResourceManager to get access to the resource:
Dim rm = New ResourceManager(ResourceFileBaseName, passedType.Assembly)
Dim obj = rm.GetObject(resourceName)
This is fine except that I want the option to pass just the resource name in the constructor, and omit the resource file base name. Then I would pick up the resource from the default resource file. When I say default resource file, I mean the one when you start Visual Studio, open the property pages and click the Resources tab.
The problem is, when developing in VB.Net, the base name is 'RootNamespace.Resources', and when developing in C#, the base name is 'Rootnamespace.Properties.Resources'.
Where can I programatically find the name of the default resource file?

What I can do is get a list of all resource names:
t.Module.Assembly.GetManifestResourceNames
I can then look for a name that ends with Resources.resources and use that to build the resource file base name.

May 20, 2009I have a database application developed around Access with VBA,I have used the Speech SDK and developed an application that in conjunction with MSCOMM 6.0 library calls into a remote IVR system.It sends in the credentials and queries information in response to that IVR's verbal requests. All seems successfull except for one problem;I'm using a shared SR engine and its using the system microphone as its audio input, this in turn gets the sound from the speakers which are routed to the telephone line through the modem. Of course this has a number of disadvantages - noise added to the sound from the environment and sound quality degredation as well as speaker volume dependency.
I would like the SR engine to take its audio input from the modem in paralell with the sound that goes to the speakers (so we can listen in to the call as well). This means that I must route the system audio output to the SR engine audio input. It seems that I must use an InProc SR instance - however in VBA that type is not recognized - since the shared SR uses the microphone as input by default. there is some statement to the effect that it is difficult in Microsoft's Help file. I'm unable to set the SR audio input to the modem output stream in VBA.As needed I can accomplish the C++ interface using an ActiveX object or a DLL to expose the missing API to VBA?

Jul 22, 2011I used a StreamReader and StreamWriter with UTF-8 encoding to find and replace chars in files. Some of the chars were replaced with the Unicode default char of � OR �. I found that for this I should have used encoding 1252 so I'm set for future changes but how do I fix the files that have been cluttered with the default char? Is there a way to do this with StreamReader?

Aug 20, 2010I'm using Visual Studio 2008 writing a Windows Forms project and I'd like to know a way to step around 'default instances' of forms. I don't like default instances, they constantly get in my way, and working in a team it's causing some really annoying confusion about the object identity of which form is actual in focus at this moment. This means I need to go threw the entire project (big) and remove ALL references to any 'default instance' of a form. But this is difficult to do as there's no errors or anything, it basically requires me to search for every text of "MyFormType." and then checking if it's accessing a default instance and fix it like that.
It'd be nice if I could just turn it off or something so I could
1) easily find all erroneous lines of code
2) avoid the accidental use of it in the future by anyone on the team
