The bottom line on a dropped-down datetimepicker shows the date different then in the text-part.In my case, the text-part format was yyyy/mm/dd, but the bottom part of the dropped down part stated Today: dd/mm/yyyy, what is probably the format set in the regional settings.
I have wirttend a code in VB.NET 2005 where i fetch the data from DB and this data has date also. I read the date format of excel and the change the date format accordingly in my VB.NET code. I have set the date format in regional setting is dd/mm/yyyy and while reading the date fromat of excel in vb.net code there i find that the format same i.e. dd/mm/yyyy and then i change the date in this format accordingly. However the result which i dispalyed in Excel 2007, found that the date still shows in mm/dd/yyyy. I am surprise how it happening.
The reason this is being done is at this point we have no idea what the column contains. However, if the formatter is "{0:MM/dd/yyyy}" and the DataRow("ColumnINeed") is an integer containing 42, String.Format is returning: MM/dd/yyyy In this situation I need it to throw an exception instead of returning nonsense. Is there anyway to make String.Format throw an exception if the object does not match what the format string is expecting?
So I need a format string to pass to String.Format that would "move" the decimal point.I can't perform any math operations before doing the String.Format, so it has to work right off the bat.Basically I'm emulating a formatting string from a proprietary server. In it if I say:
"MR2"
for the value:
12345
The result is:
123.45
I'm close with this, but it's not spot on:
String.Format("{0:#0.##}", 12345)
an extra, but not necessary... there is also MR2Z, which moves the decimal 2 left, but if the value is 0 "" is returned.
I need to take a string formatted like '010711' (DDMMYY) and put it into format '01-Jul-11'. Ive thought about doing something like string.toArray and then having some conditionals that format from there but am looking for an easier way.
I've got a little program that puts some info from an sql database into some text boxes on my form. The text box i'm trying to change shows a date in the format such as "JAN12" and I just want to take off the last 2 characters (always 5 characters) and put them in a second text box.I tried this to take off those 2 characters but it doesn't seem to do anything:
Dim fixExpiry As String Dim chars1() As Char = {"1", "2", "3", "4", "5", "6", "7", "8", "9", "0"} fixExpiry = ST_ExpiryTextBox.Text fixExpiry.TrimEnd(chars1)
I also tried using something like remove(3,2) but it didn't do anything either.
I would like to do I have a textbox1.text = My Messagethis shows the directory files lenth then I have a label.text = messagecout here is what I don,t have is textbox.text= just the filenames that are being copied I,v tried to add a nother thread but not quite understanding all of this 'This will hold the reference to the client form
I have a field that I display via: String.Format({0:c},amount) This produces the string "$28.28" However, when I try to convert back to a decimal amount, I get an incorrect format exception: amount = Decimal.Parse(amount.Text, NumberStyles.Currency) I also tried it with NumberStyles.AllowCurrencySymbol with the same results. I verified that the value in amount.Text is "$28.28". Am I missing something? Shouldn't these two operations use the same currency symbol and formats?
I'm trying to create a print function with a corresponding print preview. For some reason, any string I create with String.Format will NOT show up on the print preview! Use the code snippet below as an example:
Dim strTemp As String strTemp = String.Format("{0, 210} {1, 75} {2, 51} {3, 200} ", "NAME", "PRICE", "QUANTITY", "DESCRIPTION")
rs2.Fields("Field29").Value has values like "YYYYMMDD" in a string.how can i convert a "YYYYMMDD" string to a needed date format like 'dd mmm yy' (or any format)
I am trying to use string.format on a url to pass several values into the string. It's probably a simple error but I cannot get the following code to work. It doesn't even build the string.
Public Sub getStockData() Dim client As New WebClient() Dim url As String
I'm working on a calculator application and one function is to find midpoints on a cartesian coordinate system. I have inputs for two x and two y coordinates , and the program calculates the midpoints of both and prints them in a text box as a new set of coordinates. The points are represented by doubles to allow decimal and negative points, but I want to round the final coordinates to 1 decimal place. e.g: (12.5, 9.8) Math.Round would work, except that it only seems to be able to round to a whole number. e.g: (12, 10)
Is there any way to specify how many decimal places Math.Round rounds to, or is there another function that could acheive this result?
Working on some UI stuff, but I am having a problem drawing 'Top rounded' rectangles when the two top corners are rounded. I have methods to draw all four corners rounded and bottom rounded rectangles and they render fine.
I have attempted the graphics methods in CreateTopRoundedRect() in a variety of different orders, drawing the other corner first, the bottom line first, the bottom line before the left line, etc. In this function you can see a diagonal line splitting the shape. If you were to switch the bottom and left lines only half of the shape would be filled.
I have two textboxes that will contain numbers.I convert those text boxes to integers and then want to multiply them by certain values and then show the new value in a different textbox. For example,100 gets converted to an integer and then multiplied by 1.75 and the value displayed in the other textbox is 200 instead of 175.How do I make it so the value isn't rounded to the nearest 100? Here is my code, compTotalPremium.Text and collTotalPremium.text are the boxes that are showing the rounded value.
Dim Comp As Integer = compDedPremium.Text Dim Coll As Integer = collDedPremium.Text Dim CompMulti As Integer = compDedMulti.Text[code]....
Every sample code I've ever found for drawing rounded rectangles using GDI+ goes something like this (lifted and slightly modified from BobPowell.net):
Private Sub Panel1_Paint(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As PaintEventArgs) Handles Panel1.Paint e.Graphics.Clear(SystemColors.Window) e.Graphics.SmoothingMode = SmoothingMode.None
[code]....
This produces a rounded rectangle where only the top left corner is accurate.AntiAliasing has to be turned off because it is going through a remote desktop connection, and I can't depend on it being available. Besides, I am looking for a crisp rounded rectangle.I've tried resizing the other corners and changing the pen alignments, but nothing seems to produce a simple, accurate rounded rectangle. Is there a way to draw a better rounded rectangle than this in good old winforms?
actually when I edit float value in datagridcell , I want only two numbers to be displayed after point(.)....i.e 2.35 instead 2.34567 more over am getting it but the actual thing is that value is not getting update in the dataset , but when I reload the form it shows like 2.34567 only instead i want 2.35...

I need some help importing data from Excel 2003 into VB10. My goal is to import the data and save it to a 2D array for later use within the application. The data is on sheet 1 of the workbook and goes from A1 to D1072 with a header row. I have done a lot of research on line to find a solution but have been unsuccessful. From what I have found I have put the following code together. When I complile and run the program I get the following errors.
1) I think while compiling it gives me this error: The source file is different from when the module was built.
2) While running the program it stops on the connect.Open() and has this error OleDbException not handled. Could not find installable ISAM.
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click ' Import float volume data from Excel
I have read about Round() and MidpointRounding.ToEven but I still could not figure how to use it to achieve what I want. I have numbers (usually from 5 digit decimal) such 125.36 , 125.10, 125.99. I want to make the 2 decimal point rounded to the nearest 20. Means, the 2 decimal point should be either .00 or .20 or 0.40 or .60 or 0.80 only. 125.36 should be 125.40 : 125.10 should be 125.00, 125.99 should be 126.00 125.54 should be 125.60 and so on Is there math function to make or I should parse the number as text and test the last 2 digit?
