I have a fresh installed VB2010 and a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2.And I can't seem to connect my database to VS2010. I've been searching the net but I can't seem to find the solution to my problem.
I have attached my SQL Server Configuration and the error message I got in VS2010.
I want to create a setup which requires Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and .NET Framework 3.5. If this software isn't installed, the Setup should offer the user to install them now.
View 2 RepliesI am building a VB 2008 Express Edition application.I have built a database (with a single table) using SQL Server Compact 3.5 and have connected it to the project. I am able to view and edit the data using a DataGridView on a second form (tutorial made this very easy). I need to work with the data in the table within the application. how to easily load the entire table into an array or even read the table a row or cell at a time so that I can make all of the data available for manipulation within the application (the tutorials only seem to show how to display the data).

I am trying to deploy an application that uses SMO on a workstation without SQL Server installed on it. The instance the app is connecting to is SQL Server 2008. The application is failing with:Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication, Version 10.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=89845cdc8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.
The assembly in question is in the same path as my application as well as system32. I am running this on a Windows 7 64 bit box. I have run SQL Native Client, CLR, and SMO MSIs from the 2008 SMO redist download page.This app worked fine when connecting to SQL Server 2005.
I recently installed vb express 2008 and with that download i also installed Sql server 2008. Earlier i have been working in MS Access so i have no experience in SQL server. My first problem is how to start sql server. I can see only following:
Start>All Programmes>MS SQL server 2008>Configuration Tools, Import and Export Data(32 bit)>SQL server configuration Manager,SQL server Error and Usage Reporting,SQL server Installation Centre. Moreover in Programme Files i have two folders:

View 8 RepliesI am working on a legacy VB.NET application that uses Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word, with Office 2003 installed on the server. When I publish my site, even though my config file clearly shows v11: The site will crash saying v12 couldn't be found: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word, Version=12.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131040)
Note: I currently have Office 2003 & 2007 installed on my dev machine, also, when looking @ references I am given the option of selecting v11 or v12 (so v11 is def. there). Within a page on the site the page does an import statement for Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word. Is it possible to specify the version at this point, or any way to force it to use v11 without me uninstalling my v12?

View 6 RepliesI have created an application in VB.Net 2010 and am using an Access 2010 db. Connecting to this DB I use the Provider= Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 and it works fine on my machine. This was a recent update from using Jet as that provider was having issues on client Win64 computers that had Access 2007 or 2010 installed.Basically my issue is that I get the error that Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0 is not installed when I try to run the application on the client.
The problem however, is that I do not want ask the users to install Data Access Objects in addition to .Net 4.0. I want a simple install that they can run and upgrade to .net 4.0 if they need to. The above thread states a solution as "You can also consider to use ADO.NET object in System.Data.OleDb namespace to connect to the Access database instead of the Provider. In my opinion, this is the best choice since the ADO.NET provides you the powerful data access objects." This sounds like a great option, however I cannot find any way to install the ACE dll and get it to work on the client.what do I need to include in the client installer to get my application to run on systems without Access installed? Do I just include the ACEODB.dll or is there something else that needs to be done?
I have a software that writes data to Excel sheet. I'm using Microsoft Excel 11.0 Object Library for this. Everything is working fine so far, but apparently the drivers require Microsoft Office installed onto the computer.
Is there a way to write data to Excel format without having Microsoft Office installed?

But, I found out that in VB6 a function is called LinkTopic, LinkCode, LinkMode that I cant find in Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition . When I run the the application I am not getting the current information from the sql database until I hit the refresh button and enter the parameter. I would like the information to be up to date when first loading the application.
I've developed an application in VB2008 express and have installed it to another PC. The installation has put the mdf file in c:documents and settingsuserappsdata.I want to attach this with SQL Server Management studio but when I try to browse to the file in order to attach it, I find I can't browse further then C:documents and settingsuser.
