[VB2005] Rotateflip Image Is Eating More Memory Than Non Rotated Image ?
Sep 8, 2009 I'm writing a program that print images in full page. I.E, I print image on A4 paper, landscape. When I print an image without rotating it (the image IS landscape), the image uses all the space of the page, and is not cropped. it is OK. The print job is about 1.5 Mb. When I print an image WITH rotating it (the image IS PORTRAIT ), the image uses all the space of the page, and is not cropped. it is OK. The print job is about 28 Mb. The images are about 2000x3000 pixels, and stored in JPEG files (about 2.5 Mb each). I suppose that the 28 Mb should be the "uncompressed" size of the picture, and 1.5Mb, the compressed size...
By the way, When I look at the task manager, my application memory usage grows by job size, which seems to be OK. It grows either 1,5 Mb if no rotation is occured, and 25-30Mb when rotation occured.
Since I can print hundreds of image at once, my print queue will grow abnormaly if I need to rotate all

Apr 29, 2009I am attempting to write a routine that will accurately scale an image to the specified size while keeping the original aspect ratio of the source image.Most [if not all] of the images that the program will be working with will either be 4x3 or 3x4 ratio and normally will be output at 800x600 or 600x800The thing that has me stumped at the moment is what kind of formula I would need to use to resize at image that does not meet the 4x3 ratio. Something like say a 600x255 image or a 255x600 or some other oddball size.

I have been searching for info on the net but so far have not found a good solution for this.In this case the record will already exist in the database and I will need to insert the image into the existing record based on the recordid.Is there a simple way to do this perhaps with a stored procedure and an execute statement. I have very little experience with MySql and little with storing images in a database as well. Most often I will store the images as files and use a pointer in the db record but this user wants it in the db so here we are.

Jan 25, 2011Following my test project for making a map editor, I finally got the tile selection part covered.The application can already tell which tile(s) is selected.
So now we will work on "click the map and the tiles will be drawn" part.
When the user clicks the map, I need to "copy" a selected tiles in the tile selector, and "paste" them on the map. The process is a bit longer actually.Or is there a way to directly copy the selected tiles to the map image?

The problem imhaving is the image i want to replace is in use by the app and wont change.i use picturebox.dispose() to free up the image in memory but it doesnt seem to work.

What I would like to do is to drag those picture boxes on the court at run time but when I drag them inside the court the images should not be moved instead they should only be copy inside the court. how do I do it? However, when i try it, it tells me that the file could not be found.
System.IO.File.Copy(My.Resources.Image, PATH, False)That will turn up with an error telling me that the value of type Bitmap cannot be converted to string. So i figured i would try to put a .ToString behind it, and then i'll get the File Not Found error.

It is my job to create a program that will:
1. Allow another user to see the filenames on a form, chose which files need to be processed (either by typing them into two textboxes {ie. start and end filenames} or by clicking on a start and end filename on the form {from a databound SQL container maybe?}.
2. The program then must show the images in a picture box as it is copying them to the destination folder.
3. Then the software must somehow be able to regonize which documents were processed, and not include them in new searches.

May 12, 2012I am making a VB.NET application linked to a database. when you press the button 'generate' it is writes (fairly simple) webpages to a folder in your destkop. what I tried was adding a build-in uploader to my website, but my host didn't supported that. ok, not that big of a deal, and completely out of context but now let's get to the core of my problem;
I wanted to have an image in the resources (none made yet) and have it copied out the resources and placed along with the webpages (to use it as background image). I have tried a lot (clearly not everything or it would work) but I just don't manage to solve this. the problem is I need to be able to do this, since I want to have my .accdb in the resources to, so that it copies out when used an writes (an updated version) back to the resources and deletes the external file. but I never seem to manage to do this. I tried to read,write and other things it with IO and everything, just getting the message that it cannot be read. but I never seem to find how to copy/move it outside the program. the code I am using now looks like this:
